This is chapter 3 of NCERT History Class 6 Textbook titled IN THE EARLIEST CITIES. In this video we have discussed the importance of old buildings and whether they should be protected or not. Then we have discussed how accidentally engineers discovered the site of Harappa while building railway lines in Pakistan. Then around 1920 formally work started on these sites by archaeologists and different harappan sites like Lothal, Kalibangan, Mohenjodaro etc. were analysed. There were many common elements in these sites and many unique elements also for eg. In Mohenjodaro The Great Bath was discovered. How the houses, drains and streets in these cities were designed has also been discussed. Their crafts and arts have also been explained. Watch the video for more details.
