I told everyone that the Supreme Court ruling was 'much ado about nothing" ( many others knew the same which is why there was no real public pushback via protests etc ) That being said colleges continuing to consider race., gender... and religion, region, and field of interest along with other factors is great as it makes for a better campus and learning environment. This desire for diversity is also why I believe some schools are going back to making tests mandatory.
If I were an admission officer and I have to choose between two students who are similar in stats and activities, I will choose the one who is in the least admitted group. For example I would choose the female over the male; brown over white, black over brown ( Asians) , and native over every one.”, especially in STEM fields, and in particular pre-med.
The question then becomes, "how similar are the students?" Is it 1 point on the ACT or 5? Makes a huge difference. If the differences between students are actually small (1 ACT point), I am inclined to agree with you.
You neglected to mention the most important fact: extreme right wing Supreme Court majority was installed by just 2 presidents, Bush and Trump, who BOTH LOST THE POPULAR vote. This is deeply undemocratic, to be governed by minority opinions. Therefore universities have a right and obligation to serve the majority opinions of society and the greater good, by rightly continuing to consider race and underrepresented minorities in admissions. As one medical school admissions officer told me: “who will be a Doctor at the Reservation if we don’t consider race and make sure we admit Native Americans?”
@@matrixhousewife4779 hate to tell you this but you needed to spend more time in US history class and understand the rationale behind the Founding Fathers’ decision for why the President is selected this way.
@@edmundlee4087 I did, and I learned that it was because elites can rule over the majority. Maybe you should have spent more time in history class thinking critically instead of accepting the insane idea that Democracy is when majority will of the people is overturned by “special” elitist electors. It is sad how people would be so indoctrinated at school so as not to understand this basic idea.
Temple is doing it big time. Stanford and Harvard look like they still are.

Women outnumber men in terms of application numbers by a large margin, especially at most very selective schools.

So you’re saying the Constitution which says the president is not elected by popular vote but rather electoral votes is undemocratic?
@@edmundlee4087of course it is , minority rule is not democracy.
The definition of Democracy is MAJORITY rules.

Thanks for that uninformed opinion.
