Exactly...I actually loved the slowness of the movie not only because it showed the depth of each character and scene but also because this allowed me too enjoy even the beautiful artistic surroundings and props presented to give the feel of that era

Audiences are mediocre fools. There's no patience in them. They don't wanna see the character development, all they want is baseless entertainment and fast paced scenes which make no sense.

Look at the confrontation scenes between them everyone is going gaga over Shahid in the comments. Truth is anyone could have shined in Ranveer's role. But not everyone can pull of a subtle role!!

It was just like how the performance of Christian Bale got overshadowed by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Even though Bale is the best actor out there in hollywood. Guess everyone just loves a psychotic villain who is unpredictable over a hero.
I could definitely say Aditi Rao Hayadri and Shahid were no lesser then Deepika and ran veer in padmavati.. As far as acting is concerned but didn't receive the same acclamation :(

The boiling anger in the eyes while saying chittorh main attithi ko hum bhagwan maante hai @ 3:45 , that passionate dialogue delivery & the heaviness in the voice left me speechless & a die hard fan of shahid kapoor.
You can see how scared and cautious Alaudin Khilji was to confront Ratan Singh although he was pretending to be friendly whereas Ratan Singh was calm and composed, excellent acting portrayal of characters by Shahid and Ranvir and an awesome sequence made by Bhansali
