I was born by the river, in a little tent. And just like the river, I've been running ever since. It's been a long, long, long time coming but, I know a change is gonna come. It's been too hard living, but I am afraid to die. You see, I don't know what's up there, beyond the sky. It's been a long, long, long time coming but I know a change is gonna come. Well I go to movies, and I go around town. Everybody keeps asking me, why do you hang around? It's been a long, long, long time coming but I know a change gonna come. Oh yes it will. Then I go, I go to my brother. And I say brother could you help me please? Well he just winds up, knocking me, back down, back down on my knees. Sometimes I thought, I wouldn't last for long.
