Do worst sets, best minifigures, worst minifigures, best priced-set, worst-priced set, most underrated set, most overrated set and best non-ucs sets of each year
One thing Lego forgot about the drop ship with AT-OT was that the feet on the Walker had five toes on each instead of four, but I understand that ‘they didn’t discover a technique yet’.
I just had a thought about this the other day when I realized that it would be much cooler to get a rerelease of a set from each year to celebrate the 20th instead of the terrible overpriced wave we have gotten. About 25% of our choices are the same (I didn’t let myself choose UCS sets though) which I found surprising. I also realized that 2006-2014 was the LEGO SW golden age.
2013 Lego Star Wars was so much fun when I was younger, I had SO much fun with the AT-TE and Republic Gunship, 2 of my favorite sets ever. Many, many adventures were had...
The UCS Slave 1 really is amazing. I was never a fan of Bona Fett or Madalorians in general, and it was never my favourite ship, but the Lego model is just so perfect that I can't stop staring at it when I see it on my shelf. I would definitely regret if I didn't get it.
2007 was one of the best years for lego star wars. my personal favorite was the trade federation MTT. I saw it on the shelves in the toy store and I couldn't buy it at the time. but a lot of years later I ordered it and it was one of the best buys I ever did. I also like the limited edition republic cruiser.
I still can’t believe that they made such a good star destroyer in 2001 but then things like the guship and the play scale star destroyer with the hole in the control section
The Republic Dropship was also compatible with the AT-TE (sold separately). Though an honorable mention has to go out to the Death Star with 24 minigfigures. I always wanted that since the month of release, though I am not sure how much use I'd get out of it now as an adult.
Hi M&R I think it is a shame, that the UCS sets were included in this list, since they often will be much more interesting than any other sets from the same year. In my opinion it would have been more fun to only choose between the normal sets. I still enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work 🙂
I totally agree with u on cloud city. That one was long overdue, so iconic great design, great minifigures. Seriously after '03 why didn't they make a cloud city earlier.
The mini Tantive IV with the Star Destroyer then mini Star Destroyer with the Super Star Destroyer then the mini Super Star Destroyer with the Death Star is a beautiful display of scale.
For 2007 the motorized AT-AT has to be your nostalgia mistaking you. The walking feature isn't that great, while in that year we got what has to be the all-time best single-purchase army building lego set ever: the 2007 MTT. The amount of droids you got in that one let you have a standing army immediately, it had a very decent price and good playability. Despite being released at a lower price than the motorized AT-AT, its current prices are far higher than the current AT-AT prices.
We need a Lego Star Wars collectible minifigure series with some of these figures or all of them. Please feel free to add figures if you feel they would fit: - Commander Cody (Phase 2) - Stealth/Special Ops Clone Trooper (from Season 2 Episode 16) - Shriv from Battlefront 2 - Del (rebel) from Battlefront 2 - Iden (rebel) from Battlefront 2 - Darth Maul (printed robot legs) - Imperial Mudtrooper - Imperial Jumptrooper - Any ARC Trooper from The Clone Wars (Fives, Echo, Commander Colt, Commander Havoc) - Commander Wolffe (Phase 2/Clone Wars not Rebels). - Darth Revan (updated from the May the 4th figure) - Admiral Trench - Savage Opress - Gungi (The Wookie youngling in Clone Wars Season 5 Episode 6, the only cannon Wookie Jedi seen in tv/movies to my knowledge). - Clone Snowtrooper (As seen in Season 6 Episode 10) - Commander Karbin (from the Darth Vader comics) - Doctor Aphra (Darth Vader comics) - Any Clone Commandos, such as Gregor - Literally any of the following EU characters: Captain Fordo, Starkiller/Galen Marek, Juno Eclipse, General Rahm Kota, and many, MANY more.
I was a huge Lego fan as a kid through the 80s and 90s, but it was Star Wars and other licensed sets that were the reason that I lost interest. Looking back on the first few years of Lego Star Wars, I still don't think they're too great. I feel like it wasn't until the end of the 2000s that Lego Star Wars really started to come into its own in terms of really locking down the designs and quality of their sets, builds, and minifigures, and by 2012~2013, I feel like the Lego Star Wars series really hit its peak. That's around the time I started to notice how nicely designed the sets were and from then on I became a collector of the theme. Now in 2019, I feel like Star Wars is really one of the best current Lego themes, at least for adult collectors.
I have the Super Star Destroyer, and just a friendly word of advice if you still haven't built it: Buy a table to have it placed on. Seriously, that thing is massive.
I can’t remember what year it was but I think that the republic frigate should be on that list. It was detailed, great for play due to tons of cool features, and it fit really well into a clone army due to a few less common clone troopers and jedi
I got the UCS Slave 1 last year on my birthday and it is beautiful. I had no idea it was so close to retiring, I guess I was lucky I chose it for my birthday.
Too be honest, you should've added the Republic Gunship. I have this set and it is abslutely BANGER. It really should've out ranked the Star Destroyer.
Maybe consider redoing this list, but excluding UCS sets. They’re great, I even like the Hoth and Cloud City if I’m honest, but make a list for the regular sets! I think that’s what we all came here to watch.
i remember when i had to have eye drops for the first time, i was crying and refusing so much that my mum had to bribe me with one of the lego landspeeders, i think the one released around 2010 Edit: also i remember my nan buying me loads of expensive sets, let the Clone Wars Frigate (the one with Wolffe), the Malevolence, and the First Order AT-AT (though i would have preffered an imperial one) and i think the U-Wing. and the Falcon, as she bought me EVERY initial Force Awakens set (except Kylo Ren's Shuttle)
I enjoyed this video, seemed fresher than some of your recent stuff. Well done. I suggest you do a series on 20 best sets under 300 or 500 pieces. Would be cool to focus on smaller sets.
At least mention that the Dropship is compatible with the AT-TE and Turbo Tank. Both of them have little pop up pegs that can be grabbed by the dropshipt
The Tie Fighter & Y Wing and the AAT sets are the only ones on the list I got. You are right that 2001 wasn't that good a year for Lego Star Wars overall. There weren't too many sets released that year.
What should I do for a future episode of LEGO Star Wars 20 for 20? Did I get this list right?
