For anyone who needs extra info for comparison: I was referred to The Laurels GIC Nov 2015, got my first appointment March 2017. I'm now on a waiting list to see one of their doctors to assess me for T and was told an estimated wait of 1 year (looking towards March/April 2018).
Make sure you make a Dr Seal appointment asap. When I made my appointment with Dr L in March (the actual appointment with him was 5 months after), it was more like a year waiting list for Dr S (for most people that's there 2nd appointment) . Also, Gendercare have taken up to 3 weeks to reply to one of my emails before, but sometimes it's been only 1 week.

I've had replies & am booking with Dr. Lenihan, simply because Lorimer is currently booked up for a long time & she was suggested. I don't care exactly what doctor I see, so long as I get to see someone and can get this over with faster than the NHS clinic. :)

Oh, ok. I thought Dr Seal was their only endocrinologist, so you'd need an appointment with him eventually (even if that's after getting a bridging perscription). I'm not an expert though, I'm sure you've talked to them and have it all worked out :)
Oh, my bad, I thought you were recommending a doctor. I may need to, I'm not entirely sure, I've exchanged some emails with Dr Lenihan about the wait times and payments. I did try to get a phone consultation with her to discuss things but she doesn't do phone calls. I'm sure it'll all work out once I get there. :)
So much yes to this video. I really hope it goes well - one of my friends had private T appointments, and got T so quickly compared to the GIC process.
I've been on GIC waiting lists for 17 months, and I know I won't be able to get T for a lot lot longer, if ever.
Are you planning to try to transfer to a GP after getting the prescription (like bridging prescriptions from NHS til GIC involvement)?
Yeah, I am, I'm gonna ring them Tuesday (because bank holiday) to try to get a phone call with my doctor to discuss the shared care agreement thing and for her to expect that.
Not really sure how to go about it though, so if your friend did that and you could link me to them so I could talk to them about the process, that would be great of you.🙂

Hi Jay so very proud of you for sharing this video and well done on getting a hold of gendercare for your transition. I hope the next few months go in faster for you mate. It won;t be long in goig in ad you can start to feel some relief from starting T.

Going private is expensive but def worth it!

it's so different in my country. Here there are 2 genderhospitals. The waiting list is like 11 months. Then you will get an intake. then you have to wait another 2/3 months till you start the actually talks with the psych. You need at least 6 appoinments which are every months. then you have to wait till all the other psych gives you green light to start hormones. and then you have to wait another few months till you can start testosterone. But most of the stuff are covered by insurance.
I went to a different genderteam which gave me 3 apointments and now i'm on testosterone. I'm very lucky tho. Because most of the people get more than 6 anyways.

Good luck dude! :D the GIC I was referred to has just put their waiting list up from 2 years (when I was referred in January) to 3 years now, when I’ve just received the referral letter. I think I’ll definitely end up going private 😂
I didn’t end up going private because I had to leave my job & couldn’t afford it. Now having issues with the NHS route because my GP refused to prescribe, long story but hopefully it’ll be sorted soon. Once it is I’ll be back at videos & will make an update video.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Probably because it's more relaxed in terms of funding and times and things, plus you're paying them so they're gonna wanna do more I guess?🤷🏼♂️
Imma be taking a notepad and pen to write down what they say so I can make a video about it for other people thinking of going so they know a little of what to expect.👍🏼
I’m 22. Same shit here but I’ll be working all summer to get private for hormone
I didn’t end up being able to go in the end, because of health problems I had to leave my job after only 1month & haven’t been able to get one since. Really wish I could’ve cause I’m now fighting trying to sort out who’s gonna write a prescription with the NHS.

Hello Jay! My name’s Reigen, I’m 18, and I have been on the Charing Cross GIC waiting list for 10 months.. I’ve finally given in, and I want to go on private treatment but I don’t know where to start! Should I talk to my GP about it, or call the clinic? :(
Your GP won't know because they're NHS so nothing to do with private treatment information. Do some research on here & online about private gender clinics / what options there are, I didn't end up going private because I didn't have a stable job and couldn't have afforded it unfortunately, there are a lot of videos from guys talking about their experiences & how it works, though.☺️

I didn't end up going private, stayed with the NHS, because I couldn't afford it. I had to leave my job because of health problems & I only work part time now.
Took me 6 months to save for a £500 phone & £130 of that was Christmas money.😅

Then that's probably enough for 1 appointment, travel expenses and a bit towards the 2nd depending on how far away you are.
But you should really look further into how it works, how much exactly it is & if your GP will agree to do shared care through the NHS so you don't have to pay for prescriptions forever.
