I just received my Green Reign I bought on Reverb - got beat up a little bit during shipping - so I need some work done but Reverb credited me $300. Which is very fair. Thanks again Jake for the great video, the teardown, playing, everything! Hope everything is going well for you.
One other thing I wanted to bring up on the Floyd this model will last a long time. People seem to be under the impression that you have to crank down on the screws for the nut and the strings and that’s simply not the case. Just tighten it enough to hold everything in place and this thing will last forever. It’s not like your tightening the wheels down on your car.
Great review Jake, I've watched this several times. I wound up not being able to make a decision so I bought all 3 lol (Green Reign, Blue Reign, Red Reign). It's actually a wrap over mahogany wood then polycoated. Extremely well done I might add! Between the Sustaniac in the neck and the Floyd Rose Hot Rod trem it's actually difficult to put it down. I have other guitars but when I pick one of the three up it winds up turning into hours and hours of playing.
Thanks for the review I just picked one of these up and I love it. I didn’t know you could adjust the sistaniact and that’s great because I wasn’t digging the harmonic setting because it squeals like a pig. But thanks to you I now know I can adjust it. 👍
Ive got a SSVSS in matte black and its definitely my go-to daily player. It does everything. Couple of things tho: if you get the matte black, your arm grease will stain it. No biggie but be aware. The saddles were definitely cranked down too hard by the previous owner, the high E has a notch in the saddle and switching to a lighter gauge string has caused it to slip a few times. I had to get creative in the way that I screw her down. THE NUT WILL SLICE THE FUCK OUT OF YOU- dude I dont know why they made that locking nut like a blade at the 1st fret but its too sharp. I dont want to file it down and have bare metal exposed on the black poweder coat, so I run a string dampner permanently sitting on the nut. Seeing yours without it, it looks naked lol. Love this guitar. Love it love it. Best value for quality on the market IMO.
Really insightful video. I am a bit confused, I am planning to get one of this, and my another option is Ibanez JS240ps premium Indonesian made, can you please suggest one one will be better in terms of tuning stability?
So just to confirm, that 3-way blade pickup selector does absolutely nothing right? That particular EMG doesn't have a split-coil function and that Sustaniac only has the two mini coils for the sustainer. The second single coil is a dummy coil, there is nothing in there. So...position three on the blade switch is for the EMG, position two is still the EMG, and position one is dead. Right?
So the when the sustainiac is on it bypasses the switch so only the bridge is engaged no matter where the switch is on, when it off the down is bridge the up position is the sustaniac but as a single coil and in the middle it’s both
The one thing eating at my mind is the single coil Sustaniac is made to look like a humbucker. It's like fake vents on a car. If you look at the Ibanez JS240PS, it's the same pickup, but in a single coil form factor. I know the Ibanez is more expensive, but the more expensive Schecters have the same cheap faux humbucker look. Small nitpick I know. ANd honestly not a dealbreaker.
Large flat fretboard does not mean able to play fast. I have small-medium hands and these profile necks are not comfortable. They only favor those with large long fingers. Companies need to offer both this and traditional neck profiles. Example: my fender player II strat is very comfortable. Does not hurt or cramp my hand when playing up high. I noticed this on my last charvel so-cal i owned. I dumped it. I think this is a bad move on the part of Companies doing this. If this Schector had a traditional neck radius I'd be all over it!
Good to hear this!! I'm buy this same guitar next week.

Epic demo , nice style
I get my Schecter after the weekend, I'll come back in a year and see if I had to replace the saddles lol
a year? you have to replace the saddles each year? that sounds weird! damn!
