Is genuinely heartbreaking to watch. I was pretty pumped watching this part of the original video but, the way you portrayed it made my stomach drop
I watch that scene all that time and I would call it the darkest comedy in the show (next to fighting adults in gas station parking lots and notes about him being literally resistant to fire) and the fact that the imagination of black tears of the student’s loved ones and him trying to escape, the family reaching out to grab him and his corpse pulling him back is disturbing. But is funnier after hearing Evan saying “for prestige?!?!” It added a layer of how dark that shit would be.
Wow, and almost 4 minute long incredibly detailed animatic? I LOVE the character designs, the gestures are captured so beautifully, and number of frames with so much time put into the hatching and shading and little details that contribute to the setting. It's an interesting take. The way I imagine it is that the kid sees MONTHS, maybe even years of what happens because of his death. Days later, his parents bursting into tears when something reminds them of him. Fights, maybe a sibling gets in trouble at school because somebody said something mean about their dead brother, a happy moment ruined years later because somebody accidentally brought up his name...
You really captured the chilly, haunting dread that the kid would have experienced, and managed to make Evan’s speech even more ominous with his shadow swinging around like that.

The depiction of Dream's wand in their mouth. Perfecto.
its rare to see an animatic on youtube that really feels like an ACTUAL animatic, ie the storyboards for film/animation played in sequence with the audio track. this is seriously well done.
no joke, i could easily see this being made into legitimate animation, but that would definitely be more manpower and especially free time than what the average college student has. clip of this length, that be like 2640 individual drawings for 24fps animated on 2s. my hand hurts just thinking about it.
Man, that whole funeral scene was dope as hell. You killed that!
Every now and then I come back and just check out this masterpiece of an animatic and it's always just as awesome as the first time.
SO GLAD YOU GOT TO GET THIS FULLY ANIMATED!!! love this animatic so much

That was incredible!! Every. Single. Expression. Was pure gold! So much emotion and character. I loved the details like Evan's shadow moving to cover the other guy. And the funeral dream sequence was so creative!!! One of the best animatics I've seen in a while!
elevated to an official D20 animated!!! GET IT!
Just saw that this got put on D20 animated! Congrats. It certainly does this haunting scene justice.
The way he takes off his coat in the beginning is realistic as fuck because i do that when im about to open a can of whoopass on someone.
"oh good, you speak English" truely is an underated moment in this scene
Translation: there's a chance I can end this without.... well... therapy for EVERYONE.
Instead it's just the opponent

Oh my god... that was beautiful. Amazing art, especially showing the part at the funeral. All the pure black eyes, bleeding black and jumping on him and stuff? Hoo, good stuff.
Omg i just saw you got featured by d20 apparently a month ago, happy for you!, Definitely the best animation for this scene out there
Congratulations on making one of the best D20 animatics into one of the best official D20 animations, Avi. Hats off to you and your incredible hand drawings.

Holy shit it’s so, so cool to see this on the ACTUAL CHANNEL HOLY SHIT
this animation might be one of my favorite things on the internet
Congratulations on collaborating with Dimension 20 to animate & color this! Loved watching this when it first came out, love the new version! Such an exciting moment! 💞
Love the artsyle. It's a gpod mix of appealing and just a little imperfect that makes it great for the setting.
Congratulations on getting your full animation on the Dim20 channel! I love the sketchy keyframes of this one but you did a huge job getting all the rest of it too
YO you got to put it on dropout! Congrats! This animatic got me to watch misfits and magic ❤
I JUST saw this animated and colored on Dropout! I gotta say, I'm sad the ending was cut a little but I'm so glad you got to showcase your work on the official channel!! It's SO good and you did such an incredible job with this piece. So happy they commissioned your work. Well done!!
"NEED I SAY GOAT HOUSE?!?!"
Just coming here after the animated dropped to congratulate you! Well done!!
It’s such an insane moment anyway, but I always struggled to visualize it. This elevates it so well into the visual realm!! There’s so much work put in, and damn your dedication to a whole ass background!! Wow!!
And yeah the hands are like 👌🏻 chef’s kiss. They made it so good and improved the expressiveness of everything!!
Gosh that underworld scene was HAUNTING!
animatics that make you watch an entire series
I just saw the version on dropout, and I gotta say, great job
BRO I don't even know anything about dimension 20 but this animatic, the sheer quality and HUMOR right here, has GOT ME BY THE THROAT! Whoever Evan Kelmp is, I love this dude and his tired eyes and his funky friends
I know nothing of this show but now I'm definitely going to listen to it
To from such a "Get the horns" attitude and then to be all somber and go "What do you want me to tell your family" is just such a stark contrast, and then to go back to his friends and continue being all energized about how he won against someone who just LOST THEIR SPELLCASTING
