I’ve heard Kempys story quite abit on other podcasts and he speaks about it here and there on his own but this is the best I think he’s ever spoken about his life especially about the dark times.. great podcast as always lads 🔥
It's good to see Denan recognized for his "Locker Room" channel, which I think was one of the first to offer in-depth interviews rather than the two-minute chats we usually got at the time. His very first interview (with Beau Ryan) came up on my RUclips feed, and I thought it was well done. The one with Brad Fittler was excellent. I was very moved by his interview with James Segeyaro, and also the one with Kenny Edwards. As he says, everyone has a story to tell.
Kempy's match winning try vs the Cowboys was hectic! Was at Suncorp Stadium row 26 top tier directly behind him flying down the sideline for the try 😆 the noise in the stadium in that moment was unforgettable!👌
Beak had such a unique entrance into Rugby League. I've always wondered how he would have gone if he was raised in a Rugby League household and played Rugby League as a junior. Was just a natural.
A decade from now I hope people recognise Matty and Denan have been absolute trailblazers, paving the way for life after football in so many ways. The perfect blend of success, humility and imagination. I tip my hat to them
Something i appreciate with Kempy, is he is just a good bloke. Hearing that story about him not releasing an interview because he's worried the kid is gonna catch a tonne of flack is a good representation of the kinda guy he is.
I loved this. How raw and honest. Interestingly, the Ivan Cleary of Denan's lived experience is others lived experience. It wasn't you Denan - he goes through life unaccountable. Just got a ghost writer to write his book before others could. Make sure you have ways to release pressure valves naturally, avoid burn-out. I wish you incredibly well and I'm sure therapy in any form (from yoga for breathing to business advice) with some creative accounting, is deductible.
Yeh I've heard Beak talk about his story a few times, its good stuff. I'm glad he made it. I wonder who the young bloke was who bragged about the fighting that he didn't release.
Yktr was one of the earlier podcasts. Had some drama when these release the Cheese podcast before he moved to the Roosters. They were also apparently managing his PR. They have since shut and some like Scope have gone onto successful podcast without the BS
Coaches get too much credit when there teams win and too much credit when there teams lose. Ivans win rate is average overall... Boosted by the last 5 or 6 years.. he is coaching hes son, a future immortal, supported by the greatest juniors system ever assembled pumping out an nrl team worth of talent every one or two years. So the conditions are perfect and as good as it gets for any nrl coach. But if you parachute ivan into most other bottom 8 nrl clubs he would be found out. A really good coach but not great.. Parachute bellyache or bennet in ANY other side and they are pushing for top four. Ivan will never be in that elite class of coach in my opinion
Are you going to now make the same argument that bellyache coached maybe 3 immortals and they carried his coaching career? Or you just picking and choosing?
He took the Warriors of all teams to a gf and had the Tigers of all teams competing for a top 8 spot. He was also one of the main factors in setting up that junior system at Penrith and went on to make 5 gfs in a row, winning 4 of them and had the youngest squad in the NRL for a couple of those winning seasons. Maybe just giving Ivan the credit he deserves would be a good start.
Kempy is the reason I’m listening to all these podcasts around league.
💯💯

best one yet fellas. super fluid, felt like a really quick watch. great viewing!
Great interview boys. Well done on the success after adversity Denan, great to hear a bit of your story. 🙏

Great chat, loved hearing about the grind Beak went through to end up where he is today. Inspirational and deserves everything he has achieved.
Cracking interview. Beak is a legend
Idk who this guy is but I wouldn’t underestimate his underhooks in a street fight 😮
?😂

Kempy is truly an inspiration 🥺🥺
If there is not another episode with ridgey, there must be a riot
GOAT off rugbah leg content BEAK
An hr podcast & Matty hasn't had one sip of coffee ☕😂
Beak may have popularized “goosey” but we always called it a goosey growing up in Townsville 90’s/2000s
Ivan has passed Bellamy this year. He’s now 4-1 vs Bellamy in finals games.
Definitely a zoomer.
Bellamy has been coaching a consistently top level side for 2 decades now, Ivan has done it for what, 5 seasons?
@@jaredbrady5566agree. His stint with the tigers also stains his legacy too
You guys are fucking ridiculous lmao

Anyone know what podcast they’re talking about at 55:00?
Yktr?

Its funny he said 2021 when the podcast took off cause thats when i found him
And also it was covid times lol
Fun fact: More beer is being consumed in the Northern Territory than the rest of Australia combined
That was cool.
What a bloke
Im hear for matty exclusively referring to kempy as "Beak"
It's called soft (regarding young beer drinkers )
👍👍👍
Who was his manager that stuffed him around ?
Beak is bias to islander players word
Haha " how do U deal with a young kid who has come from the Broncos"
Someone get Cooper a jumper or some better posture 😆 he looks so awkward sat in that chair arms folded like he’s freezing
Because hes not the coach of Easts, Souths, Parra and other protected species
Interesting how people that are " athletes " look down on real jobs . Poor mindset.

Yeah but he took a avg warriors team to a gf and tigers were in the 8 before he left

Lol Bennett and Bellamy never had superstars in their teams I guess 😅
