Freddie milons, A.C. Carter, Santonio Beard, Andrew Zow, Galloway, Saleem Rasheed. Loved all those guys when I was a kid. So fun to look back and see them again.
True story. I lived in Auburn for a brief period during 00/01 however, Im a lifelong Bama guy. I was down from Birmingham setting up a new account for my company which took about a year. I began dating an AU grad student and we were about 7 months in to the relationship. On game day, she started the party at 6 am in anticipation of the game. Mad shittalk all day. Obviously, when AU lost she wasn't talking shit anymore, but I was. That, my friends, was not acceptable. Suffice to say, we were not dating by the end of the day. I also got kicked out of Buffalo's that night. Seems the Barn is not fond of you talking smack in their bar. Whoda thunk it? Roll Tide.
Some really good players for Bama and Auburn this season. Santonio Beard had a huge game. You had Galloway,Beard, Zow, Carter, Watts, Milons, Ellington,Mcaddley, and so on. Auburn had Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Jason Campbell. I mean there was alot of good players here.
RIP Ahmaad Galloway. Andrew Zow is one of those players man. He didn't have a great arm. He wasn't athletic. But he had ice in his veins. That dude played well the moment they put him in as a freshman. It's really a shame that the football department was in shambles at the time because this group was solid. They should have won an SEC title.
Zow was ultra sharp this game. The game plan was executed perfectly. I remember the whole week before this game Fran wouldn't say if Watts was going to play or not. We found out later Watts had no chance of playing due to his injury. Auburn prepared for Watts and the option almost exclusively, and Bama used quick throws and spread AU out to hit them with the run up the middle.
Too bad Zow didn't have a good game against Florida in '98. Bama had a chance late in the 4th quarter to win and Zow panicked and threw the game ending interception that sealed it for Florida.
+12106445 yea but he was a true freshman who wasn't even the starter that game and hadn't even taken any snaps before he came in during the 2nd quarter
I WAS HAPPY BAMA WON. U GUYS HELPED LSU THAT DAY AND 2 WEEKS LATER LSU AVENGED THOSE CIGAR SMOKING AUBIES 27 --14. JOSH REED TORE AUBURN UP. JOSH REED WHIPPED EVERY SECONDARY THAT YEAR.
I was at that game. Zow had moments where I’d have compared his arm strength and releases to Marino. He was on fire that day. His passing opened the run and AU was toast. Honestly there was something in the air. The majority of crowd noise was us, the Bama fans. Electric for an away game. The score on the first play of the 4th, sent 50,000 AU fans home. It was great 😂
Man, this was probably one of the poorest performances by an Auburn team ever with a lot on the line. Coach Tuberville could win some big games as underdogs, but also post performances like these. You never knew what you were going to get.
So I swear I'm not crazy, but for some reason I distinctly remember some sort of trick play in this game where Andrew Zow caught a pass down in the red zone. I've never seen a full replay of the game since I watched it live though. Only highlights, and it's never in the actual highlights. Which makes me think it's some sort of false memory or something haha. Can anyone confirm that this happened?
Coach Fran left Bama for Texas A&M and had no success at all. It's all good because things might not have eventually led to Nick becoming coach if Fran had hung around.
I agree and I don’t understand it either. He gets hurt and Tyler Watts has a decent day vs Southern Miss in 1999 and all of the sudden, it’s like DuBose kept trying to force Watts in as a starter. When Watts got hurt in 2000, Zow had some good games, but that team was a disaster. Then, Fran comes in and brings the option back. Watts was a good fit for that offense, but Bama was 3-5 when Watts gets hurt again. Zow leads Bama to 4 straight wins. It was clear to me that Zow was the better player.
Alabama wasn't good years. Probation killed Bama and that cousin, family, employees, Alumni getting scholarships hurt Alabama. So many athletes got passed over for small school athletes.

Rest In Peace, Santonio Beard. 🙏🏽 Monster game.

I was at this game sitting in the upper deck surrounded by Auburn fans. It was fun doing Rammer Jammer in the 4th quarter.
I was 14 and sitting in the student section with my cousin. We were very quiet the whole game. After we sang Rammer Jammer very loud.
@@BoogerBrains1987I was 14 also!

Can we use clips from this for an Ahmaad Galloway tribute?

RIP Galloway and Beard 🙏
This was a great game
The instant Carnell Williams went out with the dislocated shoulder GAME OVER.

This was an incredible game for Bama! Andrew Zow had his best game! Roll Tide!
I agree

And then he absolutely shredded Florida in The Swamp in 1999.

NOBODY expected this. Nobody expected what happened the following year either.
A rout! From which no honor could be salvaged. RTR!
Fran, thanks, good bye.
Runaway Fran 😂 Thank You
If someone only watched this game from the 2001 season, they would never believe that Alabama was so God-awful that year
Long live Santonio Beard
Iron Bowl before the 2001 Survivor Series PPV in Greensboro, North Carolina U.S.A.
Andrew Zow went 3-1 in Iron Bowls

Sweet!!! Fear the thumb, Ppppffftt...smart ass...
Why wasn't this game nationally televised?

Andy Sommers kinda like “ Ole Gussy”!

It was a trick play where the pass was thrown to Zow but he was hit at the goalline as soon as the ball got to him and he dropped it
@@clintwilliams2685 Well shit. I wanna see it. Only seen it the one time live.
If I remember correctly, the pass was thrown with to much air under it. If it was a straight line throw, it would have been a touchdown
Back when I actually rooted for Bama to win Iron Bowls....
I think we would have been ok if Franchione had of stayed. He left into the abyss. Never to be heard of again
It's DO or DIE for Alabama, If they don't win over Auburn, they're won't going to a bowl game
This was a good game plan by Nick Saban.
Me Goofy nick Saban wasn’t even hired then dumb fuck
Whoever this is trolls other videos when Saban was not the Coach and makes other comments as well.
Yes it was, but remember Bear Bryant recruited these players..
U GOOFY ALLRIGHT. BAMA HELPED SABAN IN THAT GAME. SABAN WAS EMPLOYED IN BATON ROUGE AND BAMA WINNING OPENED THE DOOR FOR LSU TO WIN THE SEC THAT YEAR.
Coach Fran left Bama for Texas A&M and had no success at all. It's all good because things might not have eventually led to Nick becoming coach if Fran had hung around.
Alabama messed over Zow.
007 Lanski they really did BAD!!!
