- The very first Tyrrell F1 car ever made driven back in 1970 by triple World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart. This car laid the base for the first title for Tyrrell as a constructor in Formula 1 in 1971 with Stewart. We see and hear it starting and warming up the 430hp Cosworth V8 and race at Zandvoort and Spa Francorchamps.

It never ceases to amaze me just how small that era of F1 car was. With 400-450 hp, these were simply go-karts on steroids.
Proper piece of mechanical engineering
Better looking sounding and not a microchip in sight
TYRRELL RACING, a mom and pop shop that won 3 world championships. Ken Tyrrell was a wonderful man working in his shop that was located in the backyard. Can't do that today. Notice the 3 pedals, bring back the manual gearbox, let us see who actually is the better driver.
Three pedals and a 12 grand tach. Now, that's a proper racecar!
Automotive work of art!, powered by Duckworths masterpiece.
The sound of 70's Grande Prix.
I have an old programme from Brands Hatch for a race that I went to in 1971 which was supposed to celebrate Jackie Stewart's and Tyrrell's winning the world championship. Tragically Seppi Siffert was killed at the race. In the programme there is a list of the whole Tyrrell team. There are SIXTEEN people including Ken's wife, Norah. Nowadays there are hundreds of team members and the show isn't anything like as good. Something went wrong........
Real cars for real drivers.
Tyrrell was a verry successful Team from 1971 to 1973 with Stewart and Cevert. The dead of Cevert in Watkins Glen 1973 changed the times for Tyrrell!
Yes, Tyrell was a phenomenon. And Cevert. On his way to greatness. Cut off too soon.
What a glorious machine!
F1 used to be SO BEAUTIFUL.....
There sure were! In addition, F1 cars of that era, and earlier, had distinctive character about themselves, where a person could differentiate between a Brabham, Ferrari, Lotus, BRM, Matra, Cooper, McLaren, Eagle, and other makes.
still is...
It sounds and looks great!
A masterpeace of mechanical era on F1...
Thanks!
Now that’s a piece of F-1 history any F-1 fan would love to own!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
BEAUTIFUL...
That coke-bottle Tyrrell must be one of the sexiest, most beautiful racing cars ever made. Brings back good memories of a carefree boyhood
Les F1 étaient magnifiques a l'époque...
Very nice, thanks for sharing👍🏼
Thank you! No problem!
70s,80s groundeffect cars seem to be the fastest among historics.
margus kiis Yes for sure, but also the best drivers.
I’m amazed at how high the front wing sets above the ground. Back then I thought it was cutting edge. 😎
Ford dark blue is only color for me !!!! Historic and beautiful
These cars are far more interesting than today's car's. There's so much mechanical diversity from car to car. Now it's " one size fits all" just to many restrictions in today's F-1.
Than stop watching 🤡
It is called “formula” 1 after all
Safety in those days was two words.
Don't crash.
Funny, this 1970 Tyrrell must have known the last 1970 GP on the old Spa 14km course. The driver can feel it at the Combes, where the car has a tendency to take to the left and follow the old course, but then reluctantly obeys her master and veers to the right. The same must be true with the old 1970 Zandvoort. Wonderful car!
This is on a small list of cars I dream of owning.
I love how the driver sits inside of a fuel tank...
I love love love this race car but they were all coffins looking for a place to happen. But I was 10 in 70 watching Jackie Stewart cool as ice hot girlfriend long hair driving this.
And George Harrison's buddy.
It explains why Stewart suffered with ulcers. Watching friends die on a regular basis does that to a person.
Love the Tyrell’s
The size and weight of the cars back then !! one person to push it into the garage
BEAUTY!!!!!
Back when F1 was sexy.
Built like a go kart on steroids 😬💪
i had the same thought when i saw it without the bodywork in place
This car appears to have a spacious cockpit.
Tyrrell corporation is real
Masterpiece need I say more
No more questions your honour!
1ST race Mont tremblant North of Montreal
Cars with no clutches are the same as a man without balls
No weakness.
Good thing literally all cars that aren’t either a cvt or a full auto have a clutch
Love the Tyrrell Cosworth, but I must ask if anyone knows what that black road car is sitting next to it??
Aston Martin DB2 I believe.
@@Volante79 Thank you!
There were no slicks in F1 in 1970 tho, sadly it's not age correct tires
Two oil pressure gauges?
No. The upper quarter is oil pressure lb/square inch. The lowerquarter is the oil temperature.
I saw that but look at both gauges upper part they both have lb/in
@@jackkallemdjian3945 I think that the gauge on the left indicates oil pressure and the gauge ont the right gasoline pressure...
@@jackkallemdjian3945 the engine has no carburettors but injection...so it needs a lot of pressure.
The pressure on the left is very steady...not erratic..It's good for oil
Ok
In case anyone doesn’t know just where these cars were made, you have to check out contemporary video of Tyrell’s crappy old barn, then look at the modern F1 constructors’ medically sterile palaces. ruclips.net/video/bot4R6yL5cQ/видео.html
How do you heel-toe with the steering shaft in the way?!
Size 7 foot!
It wasn’t in the way for heal and toe??
