I am in my 8th month , started in December of 2023. My doctor had no trouble ordering the tests I wanted done. She has stated that my labs are the best they have been going back to 2008 when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I lost 53 pounds, and I have reversed type 2 diabetes. I went from an A1C of 7.8 to 6.0 in 8 months. I am off both metformin and insulin injection. I am eating Grass fed Beef, Fish(wild caught only) Rabbit, eggs and butter. I drink water and black coffee. My average blood sugar is still about 124. but way down from last December. My fasting insulin was center of normal in July.
Are you counting calories or fasting on carnivore? I have a theory that the liver produces blood sugar if you fast, which may explain why your glucose is still a tiny bit high. Some people on carnivore had rising A1C and blood glucose and it is not clear why.
Admin Note: Testing must be done in the United States and "Own Your Labs" cannot process orders from NY, NJ, RI, MA, or MD at this time. Worry not. There are other companies that can do this in these few states.
@frankfromupstateny3796 Hi there! I’m in NY (mid-state) and have been searching for a lab since my doc refuses most of my requests. What are the labs that allow self-testing in NY…..please?
Thank you for sharing this, I also had pernicious anemia, and nothing budged it but going carnivore! Keep on, some ofnus simply need if feom diet, love your channel ❤
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing the difference in a month from the adding sardines each day! Would also love to see a comparison in the future of if you ate a small serving of beef liver every day, compared to eating none.
Brilliant video! Thank you for sharing. I do keto and I got my bloods done in February after 8 months on keto. They were great. I’m getting more done on Monday. I do take quite a few supplements including B complex & Omega 3 oil. 🎉❤
I recently discovered Salmon Roe at the fishmonger near me. It’s delicious and worth the price. Getting some hardcore omega 3 and other nutrients. But damn, it’s good too.
I really appreciate that you're not quick to add supplements and that you're first choosing to alter your diet with a daily can of sardines. Keep up the great work, Jenny! Yours is the best N of 1 channel.

Besides she is putting out banger content so why aren't you subscribed already? - To Jenny; You deserve some sort of an award for how methodically you are following through with this and all the many naysayers you are putting to rest about the myths and taboos of the carnivore diet. Like I have said before, you are by far my number one resource for putting real life lab numbers to the idea of carnivore diet as I evangelize the diet far and wide, and I can say that your content has been the extra persuasive nudge needed by many who were skeptical of starting the carnivore diet. Keep up the good work.
0.5375 is an incredibly good triglyceride to HDL ratio. ( 43/80) Great range is 1-2. 2-4 is concerning and anything over 6 is really concerning. Well done! 🥩
Hi Jenny, I too have a genetic problem where my body does not absorb B6 and B12 very well. Taking a B vitamin orally will not help too much, but taking a B6/B12 sublingually (under the tongue will) will help. Christiane from Flemington, NJ
@@JennyMitichI have this also and am just starting to take it seriously. I am so overloaded with info it's kinda confusing to know what actually to take.
I have insanely good numbers. Even at my fattest before I switched to carnivore it was laughable how good my numbers are. I truly believe it has more to do with genetics than anything.
You may want to wait 4 months to retest the Omega index because it takes 4 months to turn over the red blood cells. Omega index measures the amount of omega 3 fats in the cell membranes of the red blood cells.
Hey Jenny. Thanks a ton for the super helpful vid. Those CAC scores are such a blessing! Did you ever have any plaque build up ever before you started the diet? Was just wondering if 18 months of carnivore diet actually helped clear up any minor arterial plaque build up. Planning to get my mom who is 68 and dad who is 72 to start the diet along with me and my wife. Fingers crossed it goes well.
Hello! No, I am only 40 so it's pretty standard that I have a zero CAC. But, I do believe that you can repair some plaquing once you get inflammation and blood sugar under control. The human body is an amazing thing and once the damage is no longer occurring in the arteries, there is not more reason for plaque accumulation. But, that has yet to be proven, just a theory. I have talked to some cardiologists that say they have reversed plaquing.
@@JennyMitich Yep it sounds very promising. Well wish us the best. Hope I can heal my family as well with this diet. Thanks for the quick response Jenny and wish you and your family the best! 🙏
I'm happy to live in Italy, we pay max 36 euro for 8 blood or urine tests per gp prescription. And being registered as a diabetic most tests are free of charge for me.
Do these tests include ranges so we know how to interpret? I don't have a doctor and i don't want one lol. I really suspect i have thyroid problems and I'm hoping i can interpret my results without the help of a doctor that i don't have...Thanks!
Hello! The problem with some reference ranges is they are based on a sick population. So it could say "normal" and not be. Please stay tuned for my video with the thyroid expert coming next week :)
Its amazing all the so called experts calling you out for not eating the correct type of beef, not their grass fed only. I cannot afford grass fed or most meat, even chicken prices are crazy. Ii eat tuna, sardines and low cost meat when its on sale. Im retired and food is $$$$$ Its probably the same folks that consider cow farts the leading cause of air pollution 😂😂😂
Hello! I think a lot of these people are confused. Grass fed beef is only marginally better nutritionally than grain fed. Get what you can afford and you will do great :)
@@JennyMitich Ruminate animals have one stomach with four compartments: the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasums, unlike white meat animals such as pigs and poultry, as a result what ruminate animals eat is more filtered and refined. This results in their being very negligible difference between grass-fed and feed based cows, unlike with pigs which can be more effected by bad diet. Folks who think cow's fart methane is bad are the same people ignorant of mono cropping, regenerative farming for sustainability, and the idea of humans producing more methane gas by eating diets high in fiber, while at the same time most spoiled foods rotting in trash dumps are majorly plant based, and adding significant methane to the atmosphere as they decompose. If one has the resources to help promote and sustain regenerative farming to help improve our climate, that's great! But in the end we need to choose what we can afford in order to be healthy, keeping yourself healthy and strong should be a higher priority then adding your 0.0001% to saving the world.
Hey Jen, thanks for the vid. The reason your Omega6 could be so high is eating grain/soy finished beef, pork or chicken. As well as increasing omega three suggest you only eat grass fed if possible. Seems like a high number on carnivore. Thanks.
Yep, came to say the same thing - grass fed beef (consumed daily) has as much omega 3 as the recommendation to have oily fish once a week and I much prefer beef to fish. And you're also right, lower grain fed meat to lower omega6 too.
Perhaps! I prefer conventional beef for the most part. I am going to try to increase my Omega 3s first before switching to grass fed beef for everything. I just dont like the taste as much.
@@JennyMitich conventional beef is fed corn and soy, you already know how damaging that is for any animal and you've stopped eating it directly but think it's ok to feed to the cows that you are then going to eat and are surprised that your food isn't supplying you the required nutrition? Make it make sense please.
@@georgemoonman2830 hello! Yes, of course. But, if I raise my omega 3s, that will counteract the 6s. My omega 6s aren’t that bad, but my 3s low. I prefer conventional beef, and I think just adding a bit of fish will get me where I want to be 😀we shall see! I may switch to exclusively grass fed grass finished if I think I need to.
@@JennyMitich it's not just the omegas, conventional beef is also more likely to come with a side order of hormones and antibiotics, and you responded to another comment to say how environmentally friendly carnivore is because of grass fed beef, but youre not even eating grass fed, you're eating monocrop gmo fed beef, which isn't environmentally friendly at all so that's a bit hypocritical
omg. I have always thought that bloodwork lab are expensive and so I wait the once a year doctor visit, then eagerly reviewing my latest bloodwork from the labs. Thank you for this own your lab link. Very affordable, dare say cheap. 🙂
One serving of oily fish contains something like 1000-2000mg of omega3 and this is recommended once a week. If you eat grass fed beef every day (for me around 1lb per day), this is 325mg of omega 3 per day or 2275mg per week - the same or more as that 1 serving of oily fish per week. I hate oily fish.
Thank you so much for that tip. So if I can manage to get one can of sardines in a week I should be doing pretty good. I’ve never tried them before but I’m about to. Thanks again. 😊
I suspect youre speaking of MTHFR which i have. Once a week I take Pure Encapsulations Pure Genomics Multi...I've never had my blood tested but this is my just in case catered to MTHFR.

With your glucose averages, I would expect your A1C to be 4.9 or 5.0%. My A1C is 5.0 and my morning glucose is around 95, while the average should certainly be over 85 because I am not on carnivore or keto, more like a standard diet with reduced junk food, sugar, and fruits. It doesn't make sense your A1C to be higher than mine when you have lower average glucose.
Hello! A1c isnt super accurate unfortunately. There are some theories as to why some Carnivores have higher A1cs, one is that the red blood cell is living longer. But I double check my CGM with finger sticks and they are the same.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience, I am on carnivore for 55 days, lost weight about 5kgs and I still have diarrhea most of the time, it is very exhausting and don't know what to do? is that normal? please help.. doctors do not believe in carnivore and not helping at all.

Redid my bloodwork a month later since starting Carnivore a couple months since I did not fast long enough the first time. But after I got my tests, still wonderinf why mt Trygs still high. So my Trygs from 167 down to 130, HDL from 71 up to 85, LDL shows above 350. I did fast at least 14 hours and did not excercise that morning. The tech mentioned maybe I didn't drink enough water during the fast. Idk. Though my Tryg/HDL ratio is 1.5, I thought I would see it lower. Maybe I need to give it more time?
Thanks Jenny, i am diabetic, my A-1c is 6.7, i take no insulin, metformin, glipicide, my cholesterol level is very high, drs want me on statins, i will not. 8:33 im not carnivore or low carb but ive been trying to eat fatty fish at least 5 times a week to boost my omega 3 intake. Once you get a grip of it, it becomes a habit. @JennyMitich thanks for that. It seems likely I do not need to worry as I'm in New Zealand everything is grass fed and I eat wild venison which has an excellent ratio. Glad to know yours isn't too high and will be great to see how you go with the sardines.

With a high arachidonic acid level, wouldn't it be a good idea to take a fish oil supplement? Since, fish oil is Omega 3, and a high AA level is too high of Omega 6's . Just wondering.
I think a fish oil could work too, I would just need to find a high quality one. I am going to try the sardines first, and then probably do a washout period and test a fish oil supplement :)

It doesn´t matter if your LDL levels are higher than a normal person. It depends wht kind of LDL you have. If you have inflammation, insuline resistance or t2d, then your LDL is damaged becouse it ges oxodized. Well in helthy keto or carnivore without seed oils and carbs, you wont get that problem. My doctor wanted to put me on statins for high levels of LDL. He didn´t had a clue how the cholesterol works. I said to him that i am not in the risk group to get oxodized LDLs at all. So there is no reason that i would harm my body with statins just to lower the numbers down. I also told him the fact that every human cell needs cholesterol and protein and if i start to take statins those well prevent all the healing and recovering from workouts. Also when you are getting better, your redcells doesn´t die as quick as in carb based diet that will also raise the numbers of LDL in your blood. So deffenetly you shouldn´t worry about it. I wish that i had made thyroid tests way before. I was diagnosed hypothyrodism and it made alot of damage in my body. Hypothyrodism raises your cholesterol at sky high and i got a mild heart attack becouse for the early symptoms for that i hat 5,5 years. My total cholesterol after that mild heart attack were 1469.45 mg/dL (38 mmol/L) and last time after i got medication for it, it was dropped to 197.22 mg/dL (5.1 mmol/L). So the drop is quite huge after that. None of the doctors or nurses in the heart hospital had ever seen as high cholesterol number in them life. So i propably made Finnish national record with that. There might be lots of issues in health if you have hypothyrodism. Harder to breathe and that caused changes in my voice and sleep apnea. Both are cured now. Hair loss, always cold and no sweating, weight gain, fatigue, dry skin... The list is long. But after the medicaton everything has gone better. Most of those had got better becouse i were already been 12 months on ketogenic diet. Now i´ve been over 17 months on keto and all the blood work are fine. I have also lost 99,2 lbs (45 kg) and my BMI has dropped from 36,1 to 22,2. Just keep on going in your path to healthier life!
I've had hypothyroidism since i was 13, I'm 36, my current dose is around150MCG. Even after losing 185 pounds, my dosage has only gone up since before I went ketovore by 40MCG. I still have obstructive sleep apnea, but not nearly as badly as i used to. Currently eating 0-5grams of carbs, 150grams of protein, and 250grams of fat a day. This is mostly red meat, and some heavy cream for coffee. My ac1 is a 4.5 and i feel great with so many alleviated conditions, and do a lot of exercise, i hit a new record of cycling 80 miles continuously in 3 1/2 hours a month ago. Do you think my hypothyroidism has any chance to be reversed, hearing you have had such luck, gives me some hope, but hypothyroidism has always sucked.
@@EricAnimeFreak Well hard to say is there cure for it. My dose is 125 mcg for day. My next control is next summer and i am planing to try to drop thyroxin off 2 weeks before (unless i get some symtoms back) and check ih there has been improvement of my thyroid. I have heard that some people have cured hypothyrodism at keto or carnivore, but it propably depends how bad the sickness is and what condition your thyroid is. My mother has hypothyrodism too. She got diagnosed it at late 80´s. But she has always had bad diet even that she eats whole foods. She even have t2d, but she is so stubborn that she wont start keto to fix the problem. Not even that she knows that i reversed my insuline resistance. Keto would give her so much better and healthier life. My sleep apnea were really bad before the medication. I had 47 cuts of breathing in hour when they measured it at the first time. Nurse called me four days ago and now i have only 1,3 per hour. So we came to this conclution that i can return cpap machine back to the hospital. No need for that anymore. I hope that you´ll get better too and can ditch the machine h*ll out of your life. I just hated to use that. I stopped to using it early july becouse it started to interrupt my sleep and i had to have enough sleep that i could do my job.
Way to go Mama Mitch! Ya know would like to see how you and your bloodwork respond to a vigorous weight training and sprinting regimen. There are reference ranges on the sheet so you can look at those, but sometimes the reference ranges arent appropriate for someone following a low carb diet. That is why I make these videos, to help explain them a bit. You can also take your results to your doc.
I may have missed it but have you ever measured Lp(a)? That would explain your high cholesterol. CAC of 0 is impressive considering total cholesterol is so high. I'm guessing you don't have Lp(a).

When you finally get to your CHOLESTEROL data, the numbers for Total and LDL cholesterol show quite HIGH, it says "high" next to the numbers. You then disregard this and state that your numbers are in "your normal range". The misleading word is "normal". Your cholesterol numbers are, in fact, normally "high." 1st - This is because you are eating animal carcasses. Those animals ate plants. Plants contain NO CHOLESTEROL. The animal produces its own cholesterol, therefore not having HIGH cholesterol. We humans also produce cholesterol - as much as we require in balanced quantity. When we eat vegetation (no cholesterol), this amount stays in balance. When we eat animal carcasses, the amount of cholesterol goes into imbalance, by increasing greatly. 2nd - Vegetation contains all the "Essential" amino acids. This means all the amino acids we CANNOT produce ourselves. We eat vegetation, get the essential amino acids, then produce the rest to make our own COMPLETE HUMAN PROTEIN. The animals YOU eat also do this process. All the excessive amino acids you DO NOT require, end up in your bloodstream, destroying the epithelial lining in your veins and arteries. 3rd - This "One, Two punch" to our circulatory system is the main contributing factor to heart disease, leading to heart attacks, triple bypass surgeries, etc.. There are hundreds of studies to support this fact. The numbers don't lie - your current "normal" is not healthy. Try "experimenting" a while on a well-planned and balanced, Organic, whole food Vegan diet. Do that for the same amount of time as your carnivore trial. It would be interesting to see the results of your bloodwork, then! Best of Skill! 🌎✌🌱
well, as usual. When your blood results come back good, you say it is good. When results are shockingly bad, you say it is good in your case (no matter you told how fatique you are) funny nonfluencer
Hello! I guess it depends on what you think "shockingly bad" is. If you are referring to my LDL-C, I would recommend checking out Nick Norwitz and Dave Feldman's work on lean mass hyper responders. High LDL-C when your TG, HDL-C, and all other biomarkers are good is not a "shockingly bad" thing.

I’m all for this diet but how do people afford it for one? Secondly if every single person did it would there be enough meat to go around and what would the environmental impacts be? I am lucky enough to have my own cattle and have a freezer full of meat. Probably the only benefit of a highly processed diet is the price, it allows even the poorest people to survive. I feel carnivore is unattainable for a lot of people especially currently with the prices of meat and eggs, especially when buying quality products.
Hello! Carnivore is the best decision you can make for the environment as ruminant animals grazing on grass is a carbon sink. It is not expensive, I was able to feed 1 person for 1 month for $100, I have several videos on my channel explaining how.
@@JennyMitich that's true for regeneratively farmed beef, factory farmed is a net producer of carbon/methane because the cows are kept on too small an area of land that decimates the grass and then kept in feed lots with brought in corn and soy shipped hundreds of miles. I drink water and black coffee. My average blood sugar is still about 124. but way down from last December. My fasting insulin was center of normal in July.
Wow, great work! Still a bit of work to go on the blood sugar, but that will continue to regulate with time. Keep it up!
Absolute BS that a State will restrict your ability to check your own blood work. This is just a monopoly to the medical system and big pharma

You may want to wait 4 months to retest the Omega index because it takes 4 months to turn over the red blood cells. Omega index measures the amount of omega 3 fats in the cell membranes of the red blood cells.
Thanks for the tip!

One serving of oily fish contains something like 1000-2000mg of omega3 and this is recommended once a week.
He has tons of information over there on what that is and how that works. Sounds like that is not your situation but it’s very interesting science👍🏻
As much as you test they should give you a bigger discount 😅
Hello! Yea, that would be great LOL. But I am friends and colleagues with the owners and I believe in the research they are doing, so I am very happy with the 10% discount :)
Did you test lipoprotein(a)?
Not this time around, I think Ive tested it once and it was normal
My labs got out of whack after 1 1/2 month. 😂. I got scared and quit. But I’m back on like a ketovore now and I’m hoping that things don’t get worse messed up this time. Last time so was over fasting and under eating though.
what do you mean your labs got out of whack?
Over fasting?
1 month isn't a good time frame to be measuring blood work. It was likely out of whack to begin with.
I'm 6 weeks Carnivore and can't get outta bed...I have ZERO energy...wtf?!
Are you a female by chance?? Where are you in your cycle?? I’ve been carnivore for a few months now and only feel like that when I’m in the luteal phase.
@@challisaine10 thank you but not female
I'm 6 weeks Carnivore and the diarrhea don't stop..
look up Hemechromotosis symptoms.
@@mariohernandez7380 I feel for you bro. I had that bad for the first 3 weeks. It cleared up on it's own. Hope it does for you too
Dang… awesome trig:HDL ratio. Great job. :)
Thank you! Im happy with it :)
Why don't you just take a fish oil from a reputable source?
Hello! I like to try food first :)
@@JennyMitich Fish oil is food. Even the capsule may be made of gelatin. It's just so much easier than having to deal with eating so much fish.
@@supercal333 I’m eating less than 3 oz of fish. It’s not that much🤷🏼♀️
You do it
You know why they don't subscrib your channel. Too much ads!
Hello! One sponsored ad per video is pretty standard in this field.
Good job . You finally incorporated vegetables 😂 I heard you say eat with some vegetables on the video where you went to hospital to visit your relative. At least grow your youtube for sometime and you will finally say it openly lol
Hello! I have said many times that I have a keto cheat meal once a month. I dont think that is a secret LOL
I don't get, I've been on carnivore for 11 weeks and my allergies are not getting better 😢
Hello! Carnivore isnt a magic bullet, it isnt going to solve everything. It may be a root cause issue besides diet. What version of carnivore are you eating?
@@junehodgins4311 it took me around a year to notice my hayfever had gone, but then I also started carnivore in August right near the end of hayfever season anyway, but this year I've had no hayfever - some things take time, you will notice health improvements, some straight away but others take 3-6-12 months to kick in
I can not eat seafood so I take omega 3 fatty acids.
Nice!
👍🏿
There you go another person ignoring LDL concerns with these diets. 250 is very high!
Normal LDL is under a 100... my last test was 85 and I eat normally a good deal of carbs. I'm extremely fit at the age of 44 years old.
Hello! I listed a few references in this video, please go check them out.
There’s a reason she’s ignoring ldl. Just like I am ignoring ldl. Glad you’re healthy, but folks with high ldl can be healthy as well, depending on other markers. High ldl is not a disease.
@@wallhagens2001 agreed! And I don’t think I’m ignoring the LDL cholesterol. It’s just not a marker of concern for me when all of my other markers are excellent. I’ve done the NMR Lipo profile and my cholesterol particles are healthy. My blood sugar numbers are very good. I have very low levels of inflammation. I have virtually no visceral fat. All my other bio markers are excellent. So within the context of all of that, it’s just not something that I’m concerned about. There’s a lot of really good evidence that having low LDL cholesterol is what you want to avoid😀😀😀
Well only time will tell, but I rather know I'm hitting all the markers and find a proper way to balance handling carbs into my life.
Carbs are not evil.
@@danieldelillo Ive never said that carbs are evil. I don’t believe that carnivore is the only healthy way to eat. I’m glad you have found a way of eating that works for you!
Hey jenny I saw in one of your Shorts you had made a casserole for breakfast, but can't seem to find a recipe or video covering it. Can you give me a quick rundown? Looked dlike obviously eggs, bacon or ham and maybe sausage, but not sure. I've also never made one either lol, thanks
Hello! Here is a link to the video where I show the recipe: ruclips.net/video/MiRsK8VdbDE/видео.html
@@JennyMitich awesome, thanks

When you finally get to your CHOLESTEROL data, the numbers for Total and LDL cholesterol show quite HIGH, it says "high" next to the numbers. You then disregard this and state that your numbers are in "your normal range". The misleading word is "normal". Your cholesterol numbers are, in fact, normally "high."
1st - This is because you are eating animal carcasses.
🌎✌🌱
Hello! Please check out the information I referenced, you are desperately wrong on all of your points.
What is it about cholesterol you fear so much?
This is completely useless if you eat right.
Blood work is useless if you eat right? I disagree.
well, as usual. When your blood results come back good, you say it is good. When results are shockingly bad, you say it is good in your case (no matter you told how fatique you are)
funny nonfluencer
@@JennyMitich cmon, higg cholesterol + low triglycerides is probably most copied lie on the internet. Nobody have even energy to explain how funny lie it is anymore. It is like tell how glue goin thru pipe is harmless if you play guitar during that.
i understand you want to trust it, but you were happy to soon with this lame explaination how high chol is cool until you have low inflamation. In your world cholesterol is not sticky when inflamation is not in your veins.
but it is sticky further, muhehehe 😈
@@Pavel_Franta if you took a look at all my other bloodwork videos, there’s lots of great info and references linked. Have a great day!
@@JennyMitich thank you. Both of us know official study doesnt exist. Only overhyped expectations by carnivore fans.
Until know nobody knows anything for sure so how carnivores could know.
Only i see is how saladino and tons of others quit and today eat fruits, honey, broccoli because they started to be tired and their liver test started to be worse. If you are honest to yourself you noticed it happens. All started to quit after 2-4 years.
@@Pavel_Franta again, check out Dave’s channel, there is actual data.
Dr Ken Berry on RUclips has good suggestions on this topic.
Our purchasing decisions go a long way to encouraging farmers to act responsibly.
@@georgemoonman2830 I totally agree. It would also be helpful if the government encouraged regenerative agriculture instead of subsidizing factory farming.
I heard Joe Rogan say that he got kind of sardine poisoning from eating too many cans of sardines. I don't know if that's a thing.
Sardines have high mercury levels how about 1 can a week
Hello! Only larger fish that live longer have time to accumulate high levels of mercury. Sardines are safe.
You are a bit obsessive with labs and high tech measurement. These things are not needed for good health, and amount to micromanagement when you are generally in good health.
Hello! I share all of my data on RUclips for educational purposes, so that is why I am like this. If I wasnt sharing, I probably wouldnt test as often.
Heart attack and stroke risk.
Hello! That is a common misconception. Please watch the 6 month blood work video on my channel for a deep dive on that topic :)
Why would you think this diet has a stroke risk?
You're probably a vegan. That's something Vegans would say.
Eating excessive sugar is what causes heart attacks and strokes.
