This was such an exciting race to watch, the visual style of the cars, the engine noise, watching the drivers's sawing at the steering wheel for control. This is what racing is supposed to feel like as a spectator. Ferraris, Mustangs, TVR, AC Cobras....these drivers are fearless....aren't some of these cars worth 7 figures??? I am amazed at the way they push these vehicles, I am a fan of the Goodwood races!
The most enjoyable, wheel to wheel racing I've seen in years, and the underdog TVR emerging victorious over the more famous marks. Pushing 50-year-old cars that hard, 1 minor excursion, and the Jag nicking the "wall" but just soldiering on. Simply marvelous!
That lead battle between the Cobra and the Griffith was unbelievable. I was cheering like a baby for that TVR when it came behind that red cobra, and it was unbelievable watching this tiny thing carve its way to the first place. More brilliant was watching the gt250 wrestling with the wheel for grip and those ferocious gear shifts !!! It was a Motorsport orgasmic thing to watch . Thanks Goodwood
My favorite race at Goodwood. I watched live when it happened and I'm watching it again. Seriously, is there anything more breathtaking than watching E-Types, Cobras and DB4's race each other! these are the most beautiful cars in the world doing what they were meant to do. Except the shunts. I hate the shunts! To see any of these cars get even a scratch will make me cry... Thanks Goodwood for this amazing spectacle!
It's really nice to hear all different types of cars with unique engine sounds fighting for dominance on this track. *REAL* racing at it's finest! You can see these guys really have to work to keep these things on the track when they're at speed! 😁👍
Just shows how motor racing lost it's way after the 60's. If motor sports in general want to bring back the crowds, they need to look at just what makes these 60s GT races at Goodwood so great. No wings or downforce schemes, no slicks, no earsplitting turbos, just production based street legal cars grouped by basic horsepower to weight ratio classes.
When cars get too fast and have too many electrical enhancements the racing goes out of the window. While cars have "improved" immensely over the years the fact is the drivers haven't they are still human and its just not possible to throw modern cars around in the same way with all the extra power and speed and in some cases aerodynamic turbulence. This is just proper racing that anyone with breath in their body can enjoy, they don't have to be petrol heads. Today's racing can still be interesting for those who are still into all the facts, figures and strategy, but it becomes ever less interesting to the vast majority of people, which as you say is how racing has lost its way, and its mass appeal.
Amazing, amazing racing! Being a Ford fan it was exciting to watch the Cobra's and Mustang GT350's racing. Gotta give a shout out to the Ford small block engine which all of the front runners (TVR included) were running. And to think the Cobra and GT350 both share basically the same engine. Awesome racing! Lol.
Great racing! From green to checkered flag! BRILLIANT RACING! So much better than modern cars, the cars move around more, they’re MUCH more interesting to look at and they make the best sounds. Fantastic!
Erik Bredt Yep... Same goes for Red Bull pylon racing... Take the wings off... ✅ Skinny tyres... ✅ And... Um... 🤔 Well, maybe not the wings... ❎ 🤨 And the tyres aren’t used until they land... ❎ 😠 Ok. Maybe it doesn’t apply to Red Bull pylon racing.... 🤦🏻♂️ I’ll... just get my coat... 🧥 👋😬
With all the glamorous cars in this race, it's easy to forget how fast and capable a TVR can be, I would never have seen it beating the Cobras. Great racing and great drivers.
Here's the formula. Looks like a real car - pre-1970. Stock block. 650 cfm carb. Street tires. original equipment wheels, Pump gas. No aero add-ons. Basic safety equipment. Go!
Everybody seems to hail the amazing driving, and the cars, and the track... But MAN! I've been mostly watching american historic racing up until now, and - not to splash gasoline into the 'murica vs britain fire' or anything... But their directors could really learn something from this extraordinary video. And I'm talking about how yours is staying with the battle for the lead instead of constantly getting distracted with backmarkers. They do that. Every. Single. TIME.
I was rooting for that TVR the whole way, he was just creeping up on the leaders every lap. Bloody fast car to be outpacing Cobras. What a great race, one of the best I've seen from Goodwood.
I saw the Cobra's race in San Diego, well there was other cars, but it was really a Cobra race. Shelby was a brilliant man. Ford builds incredible engines
@@Jabber-ig3iw actually if you don't know it Ford went to Shelby for performance Shelby basically stroked up the engines to get more horses out of them he even worked the suspensions for the mustang the GT350 would never have been the car it was if it wasn't for Shelby
Fabulous race. Very quick little TVR, not just nimble but some serious power too!...and not an aero appendage or driver aid between the lot of them. Need I say more?
puncture ??did the cobra lap at 1.25.The tvr did with wire wheels and number plates after hanging back and keeping out of trouble for most of the race.wonderful tactics ,the best driving in the greatest sports car ever!!!
I was stunned by the race performance of the TVR Griffith! Back in the late 1960s I worked as a mechanic for a BMC dealership that sold the early version of these cars equipped with a Ford 260 V8. The car sold for $4,000 and had a 0 to 60 mph of 3.8"!!!!!!!!! It was a very "interesting" car to drive however as it had a tendency to get away from you if you didn't pay very close attention. I used to delight in pulling up alongside Pontiac GTOs at 40 mph and then put the pedal down in 4th gear. The look on the other driver's face as I pulled away from them with both rear tires smoking was, as they say in the TV Ad, priceless! All this said does anyone know what year TVR Jordan's car is, and what does it have for an engine?
The other problem area with the original Griffith was overheating. The tiny frontal area required an equally tiny radiator and even after equipping it with two fans the car would overheat in traffic. Not sure if they ever found a solution to that?
Bloody brilliant racing. Not a micro-processor in sight, just the car, the driver and the road!
As it should be!
Absolutely.
This was such an exciting race to watch, the visual style of the cars, the engine noise, watching the drivers's sawing at the steering wheel for control. The Ferrari 250s are worth more than half the field combined at minimum
@@RMediaObelisk it's worth more than the track
Truly is the best racing.
I'm guessing that the whole field of cars on the track is worth arund 50 million .
@@justbe4481 The Ferrari 250s alone are well over 50m
Thanks for writing my comment for me🤙🤘
cars approaching a million if not over and these guys have a huge set of balls to race them. thank you for the upload
Not the best idea to start watching before bed, that was freaking brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant Racing. Thankyou Goodwood. Reminds me of why I do NOT watch modern F1.

I've rewatched this race about three times now, great show.
My favorite race at Goodwood. I watched live when it happened and I'm watching it again. This is the best racing I've seen in 2 decades. Amazing move by the TVR. All of these guys are really hanging it all out.
Power by FORD.
I love these vintage racers at Goodwood!
Even my buddy, a monster truck fan, is a big fan!
Now THAT is a race.
It's really nice to hear all different types of cars with unique engine sounds fighting for dominance on this track. *REAL* racing at it's finest! You can see these guys really have to work to keep these things on the track when they're at speed! 😁👍
Truly is the golden years of racing.
Absolutely racing at its peak .
No replacement for the drive or car if wrecked.
And driving like hell is on each of their heels.
Magnificent
The Meaden/Padborne Elan is keeping up amazingly with those cars that have several times the power... That TVR though, what a car, what a driver!
I've only in the last week been watching historic racing and I'm hooked, it's fantastic.
Just shows how motor racing lost it's way after the 60's. If motor sports in general want to bring back the crowds, they need to look at just what makes these 60s GT races at Goodwood so great. j0nj0nz , Agreed
even with nascrap this applies.
@j0nj0nz Right on. Classic racing was the best racing.
When cars get too fast and have too many electrical enhancements the racing goes out of the window. yamahonkawazuki “Nascrap” 😂 Yes, I agree with you, but NASCAR will never go out of fashion, because “what goes around, comes around.” 😉

It is so wonderful to see these classic beauty/beasts on the track!
A glorious race with a field full of cars from my era. Fantastic racing action.
Fantastic come back by the TVR . Thanks for filming these kind of races .
This is 1,000,000 x better than F1
Badass racing!

F1 is boring
F1 cars are just computers running around a circuit.
So nice to see those cars going flattout, and how owesome race that was!
With all the glamorous cars in this race, it's easy to forget how fast and capable a TVR can be, I would never have seen it beating the Cobras. Great racing and great drivers.
“Jaguar takes a line I wouldn’t recommend” ... LOL
Considering some of these beauties are worth more than people can fathom these guys drove them HARD. I love it!
I love those classic cars battle it out and the sound of those engines, very cool!

The low rumble of those engines in unison is beautiful.
Oh the beautiful sound of those growling pipes. Pure heaven. 😍
No buttons on steering wheels. Just a car. Great stuff.
real racing. PERIOD.

I am amazed any of the cars have brakes after one lap... these drivers are incredible!
Soo glad that these classics are out on the track (where they should be) and not rotting in some rich guy's warehouse
REAL gentlemen drivers ...
Amazing racing, the tvr was persistent and calculating. It paid off, great drive by the tvr team!
This was better than anything I've seen in F1 in years....M A D little TVR :-D
What a soundtrack as well as stunning cars. Every one so pretty.
Those Cobras are something special.
Every time I watch these races I have to fire up GT legends and run some laps. :)
These are great battles.

I love that taxi light on the roof of the Lotus.
I love this kind of race its really exciting
Great to see cars that were engineered and built to do exactly this kind of thing:))
Interesting to see Anglo-American hybrids (with Ford power to boot), dominate this race, just like they did when new.
Great racing!!!!!!!
its just beautifull to see this old beaut
ys hammering around the track
Amazing !
I have waited months for this race to be put up on u tube thank you
Hi Jason, the race was on March 19!

Great cars but would like to see a mighty Corvette battling it out with these as well.
Wow ! Real racing 👍🏻

those cobras look like such a handful to drive.
Brilliant!!!
That Was Great Racing Cheers.
we need more of this like an international race and they must add classic Japanese car like Datsuns and old toyota same in that period

Its a 1965 TVR Griffith 400 with the Ford "Cobra" 289 V8 engine. That car was actually raced at Goodwood in June 1965.
1964, 400. Ford 289, same as the AC Cobras.
The other problem area with the original Griffith was overheating. The tiny frontal area required an equally tiny radiator and even after equipping it with two fans the car would overheat in traffic. Not sure if they ever found a solution to that?
Muy buena carrera ..bien por los Cobra, el más bonito el Ferrari.. Salud2
That TVR is fast nice little car
You could give me a car half the weight with tires twice as wide and these guys would SMOKE me.
The best racing ever
Compared to this F1 is just as exiting as watching paint dry...👍 My respect for the men driving these monsters...👍👍
