You're like me simple when it comes to hair care routine. I never purchased a co_wash, detangler product, a bar shampoo. I own a steamer and barely use it, maybe 3 times a year. All these extra product is a waste of 🤑 for me and my hair.

Yes indeed. Because I know how I style my hair the majority of the year there is no point in getting soo many products that will expire in the back of the bathroom cupboard. Maybe if I do my wash and go styles in the summer I'll get some new items. But not gonna purchase unless I know I'll use it.

My goodness, my beginning natural hair days, I was the poster child for product junkie! My bathroom closet looked like a hair store. I had everything you could think of. Tried everything you could think of lol Now my hair routine is so minimal. I have maybe 5-10 staple products that I rotate. That's it. I do like to try a new product here and there but for the most part, I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be. A lot of these products nowadays, are redundant. Like you said, instead of buying a detangler, a great conditioner you already own would suffice. I will say though, when I first went natural about 13 yrs ago, before RUclips was really a thing, stores have come a longgggg way. The Walmart and pharmacy stores in my area barely had a small section for black hair, now there's a whole isle dedicated to our hair care products alone.

When I 1st went natural as well, I was tempted to buy everything in Walmart that I could possibly find that might make my hair look good which usually was just whatever smelt good on the shelf and it was years before I found my staples. And I was stuck falling back into using pink lotion for a very long time. I thought everybody had to have a large collection because that's what our hair would eventually require. But I'm pretty good now at making a product last without feeling like I'm not using it to the way I desire. Some of the walmarts in our local area carry nothing i could use so I have to drive or just order online. Lol. This summer I will definitely try a few new products but I will do it very carefully.

I'd never just use a co-wash on it's own. For me, I sometimes use it as a pre-poo or detangler when I've had braids in and I need some slip to take them out.. I ALWAYS follow up with a real shampoo. I never understood naturals who only co-wash. Especially if you use so many gels, creams, custards, etc. Just a co-wash is not washing that out properly.

Exactly.my hair is never clean from just using water or just using one shampoo wash so I can imagine how heavy it would still feel just from using a co wash and then thinking that is cleaning my hair. Like you said I think it would be best to use it in conjunction with other shampoos and cleansers.
