The one EA and Dice have been bitching about that because they didn't do well with the recent battlefield game they blamed it on another company that succeeded because they had a game that beat them apparently. I never said anything about BF3 in general I meant the last modern ones BF4 and BF2040whatever the fuck the recent game they canned hard on. BF3 had it all the online and story and they could have continued 4 with the surviving main character and add what BF4 had then add it to the recent one instead it was nothing more than a game you had to pay just to play the rest of it with another extra $100 or more just for the online to work. BF3 never had that only needed to have good connections and gold. Now games these days you have to pay just to get specific parts of the game working that's not even completed.

@codmw2dylan My problem (and I suspect many peoples problem) with this singleplayer was just that it didn't feel like a battlefield game in the gameplay department. Compared to Modern Combat & the Bad Company games It had bad scripting, extreme linearity (by Battlefield standards) & the characters weren't as memorable as those from the Bad Company games. I especially missed the hot-swap feature from Modern Combat (criminally underated). Also for lots of people the world ending stakes story that was popular around this time felt to some played out (COD: MW3 which came out the same year felt the same to some). But I'd still give this singleplayer a 7.5/10, it's by no means bad, but felt like a downgrade compared to the previous Battlefield singleplayers.
They ended up just finally burning bakhmut with phosphorus because they couldn’t capture it. Wouldn’t give their guys the ammo they needed. What a joke.

The campaign gameplay, the story, the atmosphere and the sound design is better than most first person shooter games nowadays
BF2042 is much more better now, but still feeling so... arcade. This is 10000 times more realistic
Story was unoriginal, even for its time. Gameplay and atmosphere are top notch, though.
