Loved this convo at the end. I've never really traveled solo extensively, but the times I've ventured alone, eye-opening. I see the attraction. And the growth is unmatched.
This is perfect, thank you; I'm planning my first Camino this fall, beginning in Porto! Looking forward to more vlogs/"complete videos" and your 2024 travels -- maybe Antarctica (plus South Georgia, please, for king penguins🐧!) at the end of the year?? And yes, solo travel can be lonely sometimes -- especially since I'm older than the both of you -- I still go! :)
So excited for my upcoming trip to Japan & South Korea. Added Busan & Fukuoka because of your videos. Thanks for sharing all your travels. Love your content!! Cheers to more fabulous adventures for all of us in 2024!
First of all, happy new year! So glad you're back...I always look forward to this. Ok though here's a question, I'm in the same camp as Ben and usually just hoard a bunch of Chase points and book via the portal because I get overwhelmed. We need to get from Seoul to Montpellier at the end of April for a wedding and I spent a bunch of time this morning trying lots of options (Barcelona + train, Paris + train or low cost, even Amsterdam + train-- but only because I got sidetracked by squeezing in celebrating King's Day, arguably the best holiday ever.) ANYWAY....I found a decent flight on Emirates (ICN to BCN via a reasonable layover in Dubai) but went to look at the points and...it was a better deal on the portal? What gives? How do I find the magic $1,000 savings?
There you go. A goal for this year, each of you take a nearby country or different city within the same country for a few weeks apart then get back together for a question & answer session between each other on Travel Support Thursday. Of course, filming your adventures apart from each other.
Great video as always thankyou, ok top experiences 2023 number (1) Angkor Wat temple area Siem Reap Cambodia (just stunning) Number (2) Huang Mua peak Ninh Binh Vietnam (standing on top of the dragon, and cycling through the Ninh Binh area) Number (3) 1000 year tea Miyajima island Japan and the view from the top (thanks to you for recomending, we stayed on the island for 3 nights was incredible) number (4) Koyto Japan (so many amazing experiences, Temples, Bamboo forest, Monkeys, Fushimi Inari Tori gates etc) Number (5) Nikko Japan (Onsens, Waterfalls White water rafting, Incredible temples) Hoping to bump into you somwhere so i can buy you a beer, this year heading to Hong Kong, Langkawi, Chaingmai and hopefully Nepal.
Longtime listener, first time commenter. I wanted to thank you both for sharing your travel experiences in such an open and sincere way. You've been an inspiration to me to travel more often. I had quite a few memorable travels in 2023 (Costa Rica, Mexico, Portugal, Iceland, Italy and Spain). To kick off 2024's circuit , I will be flying to Japan this weekend! I'm super pumped to explore the country and eat ALL of the ramen. All of it. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the infamous Kyoto sumo wrestler :) Keep up the travel tips in the podcast. Because you recommended Airalo e-sims in one of your videos, I tried it out and have now successfully used it in 4 countries. I'll try it out in Japan, although you mentioned that Ubigi might be better over there. We'll see... I love the travel tips so much, that I decided to take a crack at starting my own RUclips channel to share some tips that have helped me. It's a bit of a learning curve but I hope to bring some value to others in the same way I've received value from you two. Keep up the good work. Onward and upward!
Enjoyed both your Camino videos. I am off to do a portion of the Portuguese Camino (110km) myself at the end of May this year. Plan on keeping my backpack down to 20lbs or less. I begin my Slow Travel when I retire in Feb 2026. As always, I enjoy what you two put out. Have a great week & year.
I love a Josh tech nerd out moment. I am curious though which wins in a battle royal. #1 laptop tech what to buy decision? #2 nested data backup processes? Or #3 epic rewards points use on a flight to somewhere amazing.
All the best for your year ahead! As a Kiwi it warmed my heart that you loved NZ! 🥰 This year I had the amazing experience of being able to go to Portugal to visit my partners family for the first time...but I am dreading having to fly 30 hours again back home in another two weeks 😅 I was wondering if you both have any tips for surviving long flights?
I loved this video so much! Our trip to New Zealand in January was amazing! We hit the South Island in the camper van, we fondly named Billybob was life changing. It was truly beautiful in every way! Can’t wait to go back! Next Spring Korea and Japan, Let’s go!!!
Hi. Love your work and really look forward to this each week. My question- I live in New Zealand and it’s super expensive and time consuming to travel anywhere. I have been looking at all the travel hacking options but can’t work out how to make most of it work from here. If you lived in nz what travel hacks would you look to use or suggest for us. Thanks for any ideas you can provide.
Question unrelated to the video but curious about travel related vaccines. What did you guys get? Did your views on this change throughout the years? Would you have skipped some or got others sooner?
Travel ThurrrrrsDAY. Travel ThurrrrsDAY!

Or 3 days in the same city but staying at different places without having spoken to the other. I wonder what you would each choose to do.

My Thursday is complete, with another Travel Support Thursday episode.

Hi guys! Would you ever make Hawaii your home base?

If you’re still in SoCal, would you up for a group meet up??
I cant wait for your Vietnam video, esp. Regarding the visa issue. Im currently in the Philippines and will be making my way back towards the US.
Good episode!

Where is “back here” (home, that is)?
