1300 Bus Routes: Golden Arrow in Cape Town

Golden Arrow is the other company providing bus service in Cape Town. They operate 1046 buses and 1300 routes in the city, a confusing system for visitors. I did not ride but of course filmed their buses. Here are just a few of their operations in Cape Town.

I used to absolutely love that place when I was younger. I used to hang around there photographing when it was all Leyland buses in the 1980’s and 1990’s before the MAN stuff arrived

#2601... *HOLY SH%T!* You need to find a way to get a ride on that beast. And 1,300 bus routes is just insane. It's hard to keep track of 150+ routes.

2601 is now used on a route to "Caboose" where the drivers and conductors would be picked up from their houses before the first busses and would be dropped off back home after the last bus had returned to the shed. I guess it also goes to Strand now, but I am not too sure on that one.

The do, the destination is on the sign. No route numbers or letters.

South Africa transit sucks. No bus route maps,schedules show too few buses running usually every 30 minutes in major cities plus the service stops at 10 or 11 PM.
