Ronny Johnsen and Solskjaer won a treble the following season with United for example, JJ Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West, Finidi George, Rigobert Song, Samuel Etoo, Mustafa Hadji, Nouredine Naybet, Lucas Radebe , Benni McCarthy, Marcelo Salas, Ivan Zamorano, Hidetoshi Nakata, Shinji Ono, Kawaguchi, Ali Daei, Jaap Stam etc...I could still go on.
it was the best sports event I have ever seen in my life. so many legendary things in one tournament. what I remember: - Roberto Baggio scoring a penalty after missing one in WC 94 - Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Bebeto in one team at the same time - headers from the king of headers Bierhoff - Batistuta hat-trick - 18 y.o. Owen goal against Argentina - Mihajlovic classic free kick goal - Nigeria number 1 in their group - Backham classic free kick goal (his first goal for England) - beginning of shining stars for Vieri, Henry, etc. - old generation of superstars like Laudrup, Klinsmann, etc. - Bergkamp state-of-the-art goals - Salas showing his strong side - Cocu, Kluivert etc. at their prime - Thuram scoring his only two goals with France, both in one game - Davor Suker as top scorer - the best France national team in the history captained by Didier Deschamps - probably the most famous referee in football history, Pierluigi Collina
Ronaldo, suker, vieri, inzaghi, batistuta, salas, zamorano, owen, shearer, trezeguet, bierhoff, kluivert, even tore andre flo. The times when pure strikers were common and scoring goals for fun. Pure strikers are so rare today. I can only think of haaland and lewandowski right now.

People over here saying that this was the best WC (dont get me wrong , it was) but at the same time arent talking about how this WC was rigged so that France and Brazil wouldnt meet until the Final. If you dont believe me, look it up. Plantini hinself admitted it as well
have you just noticed that the organizer chooses his half of the table and generally avoids the supposed biggest team? do you think it was different now? russia in 2018 was in part 2 of the table with spain and england while in part 1 you had france, belgium, argentina, brazil and portugal
@@genzalarboa3110 Have you noticed how France was placed in group C instead of group A? Host nations are normally placed in group A because they arent placed within the selection pods. Platini admitted that he pressured the organizers to change the group draws purposely so that France and Brazil wouldnt be able to face each other until the Final. The “dream Final” he called it. Basically it the final match up that he thought everyone at the time had most hoped for. Russia was the only seed in the 2018 WC who knew their spot in the draw, so there really wasnt much controversy there. Like I said, if you dont believe me, look it up.
@@genzalarboa3110 And no, they choose half the table. Besides the host/hosts, the remaining teams are placed in to draw pots based on their rankings, and the draw is done from there. As well, nations from certain confederations cannot be placed into the same group, as a result are placed into the next group.
@@RanaltheBeetle t's good to be gullible! in 2014, ask what was the final dreamed by the brazilians, they will all answer you an argentinian brazilian final which, coincidentally, was in different tables and if spain champion in 2010 had finished first of its group instead of to be eliminated, she would have been in the table of argentina in 2006 in germany, against whom did germany dream of winning? against brazil who had beaten them in the final of the 2002 world cup and by chance the two teams were in different tables in 1990 in italy, the reigning world champion is argentina who is placed in a fairly easy group (cameroon, romania, ussr) which normally should have sent her team to the part of the table where italy was not but as they just qualified as best 3rd they ended up in the italy draw whenever a country could potentially win the world cup, the reigning world champion and/or their biggest rival are always in the other table, so you can believe it's coincidence or admit it's chance is sometimes directed
@@genzalarboa3110 Lmao stop trying to sound smart. There is evidence of Germany wanting to play Brazil in 2006. Brazil were one of the favorites among other nations (Germany, Argentina, etc.). When you “by chance” that doesnt automatically mean rigging. As I said before, the host nation/nations are usually given their own seed, then the remaining teams are seeded based on their world ranking. Brazil and Germany couldve met in the final regardless because they were on opposite sides of the playoff bracket, but Brazil ended up losing to France in the quarter finals, while Germany lost to Italy in the semifinals. There was no rigging at all, so I dont know why you brought this up as a relevant defense. You call me gullible, yet you’re the one pointing out alleged rigging/corruption when there was none. Lol just stop while you’re ahead.
Just realised that Bergkamp’s goal against Argentina has two different bits of commentary from Barry Davies. Other videos on RUclips have him saying different lines so assume he’s commentated again over the highlights later.

@@RanaltheBeetle t's good to be gullible! in 2014, ask what was the final dreamed by the brazilians, they will all answer you an argentinian brazilian final which, coincidentally, was in different tables and if spain champion in 2010 had finished first of its group instead of to be eliminated, she would have been in the table of argentina
in 2006 in germany, against whom did germany dream of winning? against brazil who had beaten them in the final of the 2002 world cup and by chance the two teams were in different tables
in 1990 in italy, the reigning world champion is argentina who is placed in a fairly easy group (cameroon, romania, ussr) which normally should have sent her team to the part of the table where italy was not but as they just qualified as best 3rd they ended up in the italy draw
whenever a country could potentially win the world cup, the reigning world champion and/or their biggest rival are always in the other table, so you can believe it's coincidence or admit it's chance is sometimes directed
Amazing 😍😍😍❤❤❤
I was 9 in this wc and i fell in love with the sport
My childhood 😢
Was only 11, went on a family holiday to south of France in frejus after the Denmark 4-1 Nigeria game, was in the pub with my dad when we went out to Argentina.
How many world class n9 and n10!! If every national team from 2022 were to play their 98 counterpart i think they d get destroyed...
The best world cup by far even I just was 12 years old.

Pertandingan WORLD CUP 98 mengingat kan saya waktu masih baru bocah
Best Era. Best football. Best World cup.
I remember watching the opener after we sneaked a wee telly into work. We had to use a wire coat hanger as an aerial!
Great stuff
I still remember the commentator word during goal
min 7:34 .. this penal kick was a gift of the FIFA to Italy
Issa Best finisher
Zamorano 🚁
My first world cup ever....❤️❤️❤️
La mejor copa del mundo que me a tocado ver.
From a Frenchman who was in Paris at age 20 that 12th of July 1998: it is not possible to describe this event and all the emotions that it provoked accurately, you had to be there, and I was lucky enough to be. Also, Davor Suker is a fucking legend, this goal he scored against us is one of my favorites.
Como pode se orgulhar de um título roubado?
Best version for FIFA world cup ever without song
this world cup may be perfect
The lack of advertisement compared to the last WC is crazy!!
Piala dunia pertama Yg gw tonton, umur 8 thn, masih terngiang2 lagu nya ricky martin😊
37:32 "He's living up for what's required for those who wear the number 10 shirt for Argentina."
... and couple years later, Messi arrived :D
I love .....Yugoslavia last tournament.
we'll never have class players like that ever again. The guys could've taken any team in the world when they were motivated, even Brazil
so many goals from distance, nowadays everyone wants to run with ball straight to the gate
morocco 😍 what a beuatiful team they deserved to be qualified
i was 4 when this world cup took place and the memory about it is bassirs first goal on scottland because they showed it a lot on tv and then i had the panini album containing a lot of photos and i have also 2 mcdonald toys of this world cup
Croatia is really good
Excelente compilação , foi uma copa do caralho apesar de o Brasil ter vendido a copa para a Franga 😊
Unfortunatelly not all the goals. For example in group D there were only the first and third games of the group.
