  • 3dconnexion recently sent me their new product for a review: The Keyboard Pro with Numpad. A big THANK YOU to the 3dconnexion marketing department! In this video I show you what’s in the box and how to set up and install the device. SPOILER ALERT: it’s a solid product with some minor flaws you need to know before buying. Watch the whole video as I share my personal opinion at the very end!

    @3D Gladiator. Thanks for the review! Would've liked a review on the actual keys as well. How do they feel and sound, etc.

      Thanks for watching. The keys have a soft feel, not a lot of resistance and are pretty silent. All in all, I would say they are ok but really nothing special. Best, Ben

    Good review, and this may seem like a silly question, but is the keyboard wireless or just the numpad? IF they keyboard is not wireless, does it have a receiver inside it that the numpad can connect to, or does it only connect via BT or a DIFFERENT wireless receiver, such as one used with the cadmouse pro (assuming you don't already use BT for the cadmouse)? Don't know if you'll get a chance to reply, but Thanks!

    Can you use the function keys to control music (pause, foward...)?... I see it has sound/speaker control on it but not the others like on most keyboards. Thanks

      Yes, as far as I'm aware, this should work.

    Thanks for the review! They missed the mark with me on this one. First off, I’m a huge SM Enterprise fan, have two of em on my system (yep, with some input from 3D Connexion I’m running two on one system). Currently using a Logitech G Pro programmable BACKLIT, somewhat IBM Selectrish style keyboard (yeah, I’m a dinosaur); a Logitech Trackball on right side and a BACKLIT separate numpad usually to top right of trackball. This setup is duplicated under my Cintiq 27 and under my Dell 3819 in an L shape desk. I will not be buying this Connexion keyboard setup because of size, both keyboard and numpad are too deep and also NO BACKLIGHTING. Night owl here requires backlights on his keyboards! Also, not sure how the keys on feel? If not a “Brownish+” slightly positive click feel, need some feedback, that would be a negative. So while still hoping for a Connexion Trackball (Ala Logitech thumb ball) this keyboard/keypad ain’t for me.

      Thanks for watching and your comment Jesse. Your setup sounds very impressive, would be cool to see a picture of it. Have a great weekend. Best, Ben

      @@3DGladiator Chuckle, I’ve thought about doing a short video. But then I’d have to clean up my desk and workspace!!! That’s a daunting task ;-). I’ll see if I can find your email contact, if so I’ll do a “quick” clean and drop you a pic. I was talking w the Fusion guys during Autodesk University and agreed to send em some feature examples/requirements; so as soon as I’m done with that I’ll see about “tidying” (dusting keyboard and moving empty coffee cups) to take a pic. On a side note regarding “design tools”. I’m on a Japanese mechanical pencil/eraser kick at the moment, so don’t be surprised if you see a “few” in the pic. May have solved the lights on on the SM Enterprises. Got a short USB 3.0 cables with built in on/off switches, need to test if any undesired “features” pop up. Cleaning up is a good excuse to put those and the 2nd powered hub for the 2nd SM in.

    When in Chrome the 12 buttons are programmed to open certain websites, and unfortunately it is not possible to change this to your own websites, at least I haven't found out how so far.

      I rewatched the last three minutes of your video and still don't know if your recommendation is "yes" or "no" to buy this keyboard. If you watch 3Dtech review ruclips.net/video/gOCAI9pyiWg/видео.html you will definitely know what his recommendation was: A BIG NO.

      @@schwinn434 I got it for free, but it's still boxed on stored on a shelf in my basement. Maybe this answers your question. 😁 Best, Ben

    I like the structured way you are doing it. BUT: You mention that you miss a backlight... It is in my eyes as unimportant as can be. Hardly anyone will work in the dark or am I the only one using daylight? USBs attached to my keyboard? In my eyes not really a must have. Actually the more I think about it the less I would want it. What I would have liked to know though, in a review of a keyboard is the main thing that I am missing here: The keyboard itself, Type of keys, mechanics, ergonomics etc. How you use a driver is a "nice to know" but a common thing hardly worth mentioning. But: How is the feel of typing, you do not say anything about it. I use two products of 3d Connexion (Mobile & Desktopwise) and the quality is beyond doubt but here my questions remain open and unanswered.

      Thanks for watching and your comment. This is a valid point. The mechanics feel like every other random $50 dollar keyboard.

    Really nice keyboard, unless you're not spilling anything on the keyboard. Small amount of liquid, and is is gone, partly glued, partly screwed and mostly welded, nearly no possibility to repair. Planned product obsolescence? In 2021 H hope for developments that at least try to have an impact instead of producing additional garbage.

    • @Xayok
      @Xayok 2 года назад

      @@3DGladiator yes, it did, after not even 4 weeks. If was unfortunate, I disconnected the keyboard and got in contact with support.
      They said there is no option for repair, it is no warranty case and no offer for a crash replacement. Just garbage. Would I have known, of the keyboard is actually build, I would not have bought it. Welded and glued. Nice haptics until you look beneath the surface.
      I'm cured, heavy pricetag for a non reparable product. I could provide pictures.
