Dean Ward can clearly fight but he was severely outgunned in this instance. He was surrounded by his family and his cousin was the referee. Incidentally the same cousin supposedly had serious money on him to win; if so a draw would have prevented serious financial loss.
A completely fair fight would have been a neutral location - ideally a gym rather than a traveller's yard - and the referee shouldn't be related to one of the fighters. I only know they're related because Ward did a call out video one one guy for a dispute with a third party. It sounded like he wasn't really involved at all.
He was posing in his Mercedes and mentioned about 30 times that he was Dougie Joyce's cousin and name-dropped other people. At one point he said "I'm Dougie Joyce's cousin..." mentioned a date and then "...I'm Dougie Joyce's cousin". The camera flipped at the end and Dougie Joyce - apparently they're cousins - was filming and smiling.
Like I said, he can clearly fight and would have me any day of the week but he was obviously outclassed here. His overconfidence before, during and after the fight suggests to me he doesn't have many fights behind him and he's trying to make a name for himself, but using other names for clout. I'm guessing this is why Decca went easy on him. In any other fight with such a mismatch Ward would have died in the ring.

Absolutely. Paul must be at least 30 stone. Looks so frail. I can't believe he's only a year older than me. Facially he doesn't look bad at all but he walks like an 85 year old man.
