    This is EXACTLY what us learners need. Not just repetitions of words or quizzes to guess the word, but to have someone slowly read a story out with both the characters and pinyin. I can even practice some speaking for my tones with this. And the fact that the translations are optional is awesome. Thank you so much for this.
    Also, the fact that you point or try to express the meaning of the words with your hand/yourself is great.

      @@darija.studio only in text really as a lot of Japanese is based off the Chinese alphabet and so it remains some meaning but despite them having some similar characters, they are pronounced completely differently. That and the fact that Japanese adds a lot of really unnecessary grammar makes it next to incomprehensible to a native Chinese speaker I think but if it's text only, maybe they can understand each other mutually

    • @Emihasdreamstoo
      @Emihasdreamstoo 2 года назад

      @@darija.studio Nah, the grammar is too different, plus Japanese also has hiragana and katakana which are both different from Chinese characters and a native Chinese speaker who has not learned Japanese wouldn't understand anything other than some random kanji. Plus Japanese kanji's meanings differ from Chinese sometimes and are used differently. So there are similarities, but neither of them could understand the other completely if they haven't studied the other language
      Edit: Also I think this is kinda too obvious but Japanese is also pronounced differently. For example 猫 mao, a cat, is pronounced as neko in Japanese

    • @containternet9290
      @containternet9290 2 года назад

      Hiragana and Katakana are also of Chinese origins, they are basically cursive Chinese.
      Chinese native speakers can read some stuff in Japanese and vice versa, but written content.
      In the past, Korean, Japanese and the Vietnamese all could write and read Chinese.
