They used to have a ski patrol show and I think it was on court tv back in the early 2000s like 2005 2006 something like that it was called ski patrol Crystal mountain or something
Ski patrol is respectable... the best ski jobs are the ones that start when the lifts close. The dishwashers, cooks, waiters, etc., who work from 4pm to 11 are skiing way more pow and terrain on their own time. Ski patrollers spend a lot of time on skis but very little of that time is spent making turns the way they want... I’ve never seen a ‘troller hucking cat tracks or maching super g turns down an open bowl. They don’t really let you do that on the clock.
the ski patrol in British Columbia is much more chill and won't yell at you for stupid stuff unless there is real danger. I was skiing in the woods on an east coast mountain like I do in BC every day and they got super mad at me lol
It's a very practical style: You've got to have a strong base all the time. Carrying gear or dragging a sled, you can't get surprised or be off-kilter, ice to powder.
Most patrollers don’t make a career out of patrolling. A few, like myself, patrol 10 or 15 years, but many others only do it for a few years. Being at 10,000 feet elevation is hard on your body especially for the amount of exercise a patroller gets daily.
Ive worked at ski resorts and the best job is a janitor... Everyone gets a free season pass...not everyone gets to smoke weed and eat food and get paid almost the same as everyone else for an easier job! hahaha suckers
They really need to make a ski patrol tv show like where they respond to all the accidents. Kind of like bondi rescue

Did a couple of sessions ski patrolling, plenty of digging, de-icing, running rigs - episode skiing, not so much.
Patrollers sure do have a unique skiing style. Different than racers and ski instructors.

Not sure why, but Mosley will always remind me of Andy Mill :)

I mean i'd do the same if it meant i could go powder skiing for free
"People think it's about safety, but really it's about fun" I get what she's saying but it just doesn't sound right.
