WHAT A GREAT EPISODE!!!! You and your momma are a joy to watch. I am 66 yrs old so I am at the age to refect back to the 70's/80's when I was in the hayday of stitching. We had cross stitch shops all over the area. Now, one shop, one hour away, that I actually went to today after watching your flosstube. ANYWAY, your momma needs to make more appearances. She is great. Now we know where you get your humor from. By the way, Angie, beautiful stitching. I can't believe what all you have completed in a year. Mindboggling!

That was absolutely lovely to meet your mom 😊 I am from her generation and stitched in the 80’s & 90’s, had a 10 yr hiatus and came back to stitching in April 3020 when I discovered Floss Tube.
I am self taught from magazines and one little coiled book by Pat Carson on how to stitch on linen.
    Most incredible changes:
    1) hand dyed fabric
    2) learning how to use floss drops and pull out one strand of floss
    3) Learning the pin stitch
    4) discovering the world of full coverage like HAED’s and trying to decipher the strategy behind how to stitch them.
Cross Stitch is definitely where my heart lives 💚
Stephanie, you are in my top 5 of favourite designers. Thanks for posting episodes, I look forward to watching every time 🙋‍♀️

I loved this! You two ladies have the same beautiful smile, and all of your Mom's projects were beautiful! Those Margaret Sherry cats....even the fabric she picked for the hangings was perfect. And all of the amazing changes to the patterns she's doing? The Lollipop Guild was everything. I love all things Wizard of Oz. I hope she comes back and shares more! I want to see her anniversary project finished.

Lovely to meet your mom. I also started in the 80's and here in the Netherlands there was only Lanarte and sometimes a pattern in the womens magazines. About 8 years ago I found a magazine called Cross Stitch Collection with a pattern by Joan Elliott 1920's the Flapper and then there was Facebook with all those cross stitch groups and I fell down the rabbithole 😂😂😂

Love the interaction between the two of you. Thanks for all the smiles. :-) Your mom and I have lots in common--cross stitched in the 80s and 90s, retired last year, have picked up stitching again. Same hairstyle, always hot, giving away stitching. :-) Her advice to those returning to cross stitch is spot-on. I was one of those people who went a little crazy buying all the charts during the pandemic, and then I was hit by the fact that I am simply not going to have the time to stitch it all. I've slowed up with the buying. :-) Since returning I have begun to stitch on linen, have bought several full-coverage charts, and discovered evenweave. Still like Aida, but I'm branching out. Thanks for such a great video. :-) Best wishes to you both.

What a fun video! I also began stitching in the 80s and while I've gone through up and down periods, I never stopped stitching. My first piece was a kit, a small Christmas ornament, that I bought at Walmart. It wasn't too long before I had a subscription to Cross Stitch and Country Craft magazine and was attending Creative Circle parties. Those are the only Tupperware-style home parties I actually liked and I really miss Creative Circle. One thing I miss about the 80s and 90s is how easy it was to find a brick and mortar LNS. There are none near me now. The closest is over an hour away (the one in Laporte - I've never been there.) So glad to have found flosstube and happy to know there are still plenty of stitchers out there!

I learned to cross stitch when I was a child and didnt do it again until my 20s in the 80s and 90s. Like you Angie, I did a lot of 14/16 ct because it was what was available. I also made a lot of Precious Moments wedding gifts/ring bearer pillows. One year I cross stitch 25 sweat shirts as Christmas gifts and had a baby nine days before Christmas! I took two of the shirts to the hospital to finish lol. I didn't stitch much after the mid 90s and picked it up again when I lost my constant companion (my doxie Margarita) in 2019. I also crochet. knit. beadwork and scrapbook. I enjoyed seeing you and all your stitching.

Like your mom, I am a returning stitched and I also felt a little overwhelmed when I got back into it. One of the things I love best today is the use of variegated colors instead of having to make a million color changes. Thanks for sharing your mom and her wonderful finishes with us! She’s inspirational, wise, and has a great sense of humor..I hope she visits with you again soon☺️💕

Loved this! I started cross stitching in the 70’s and quit in the early 90’s and came back to it in the past year. I stitched on linen and even weave fabric back in the 80’s, did beading and specialty stitches-but I worked at a craft store so maybe I had more access to products. I 1000% agree with your mom about keeping stash small. Cross stitching takes time and it is quite probable that you won’t like the same patterns in a couple of years. Great episode!!

I recently took a beautiful gift cross stitch out of the frame (stitched for me by my BFF in 1991). I soaked it first until the water was clear and then gently washed it in quilt wash soap- continued to make sure she rinsed until clear again. I put it back in the original frame. DMC is very colorfast. I think your mom could leave her framed bathroom pieces in the plastic frames (yeah, plastic won’t bleed) and soak, gently swishing in soap, rinse and air dry. That is, if the dirty look isn’t her jam, lol!

It was so fun watching you and your mom. I'm going to be 70 in Dec., so I did a lot of cross-stitch in the 80's and 90's. Then I did some model stitching for a local shop in the late 90's. I stopped for awhile and then picked it up full time when Covid hit. Your mother's advise of not going too crazy buying things that you think are cute is excellent. I'm loving the stitching, but I will never finish all the things I have bought in the last couple of years. I tell myself that they are my collection. You are both adorable. Thanks for the fun!!!

Loved seeing your Mom's stitching. I was married in 1980 and started stitching in 1987. I too made a lot of gifts (and never took pictures of them!). I got into quilting in 1997 but never actually quit cross stitching. However, Flosstube really opened my eyes to a whole new universe of patterns and fabric. I love seeing other people's stash and WIPs but I do agree with Angela's advice about being selective in what you purchase. I try to take into account that I am 65 years old and although my eyes are great currently, that might not always be the case. Having said that, I just made my biggest order ever of patterns from 123stitch yesterday!

A most delightful video! I laughed along with you.
I am 88 years old and stitched back in the 80’s as you did, Angela. Quilting took over for a long time but when grandbabies came along, I would do birth announcements, or wedding samplers all through the intervening years. But over this past crazy year, I have really gone back to xstitching big time. Your advice to newbies about being practical about purchases hit home because I am finding stash from the 80’s which will never get used. And I will admit that I grid everything and only stitch on Aida. My eyes, although pretty good for an old lady, just can’t handle linen. But I am thinking about experimenting on evenweave. Wish me luck.

Your mother is delightful and it was great hearing her perspective and suggestions of a stitcher that stitched "back in the day" and now is experiencing the new generation of designs, fabrics, threads and how to start stitching again...I am probably very close to your mom's age and can relate to what she showed that she has stitched. Thank you for the amazing Christmas pattern & thank you for sharing your Maw! 😍 I smiled the whole time watching y’all! When you said the Precious Moments have magical powers 🤣🤣🤣. Also WOW- Angie…the changes you have made like the super cute pumpkin pie & your Wizard of Oz- that’s such a gift, I think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Please come back next year (or sooner 😉).

I am actually your Mother’s age and returned to cross stitch this year. I have found floss tube and just love it. I have readily adapted to the new patterns and have started journaling with my cross stitching like I do with my quilting. I must admit, I have a lot of patterns but I do a lot of stitching. My daughter is also starting to cross stitch so most of my stash is suppling both of us. I share very well. Have s Happy Thanksgiving!

Loved it!! Your mom was great. It's so fun to hear about what cross stitch used to be like. I loved seeing her past projects and her wips. It's so nice that you both can share in the same craft. Thanks for sharing 🌳🐿

Loved today’s video!! Now I want to come hang out with you and your mom. I also stitched in the 80’s and 90’s,(yes I stitched Precious Moments), took a 20+ year hiatus, retired in 2018 and rediscovered my love of cross stitch in 2019.

I loved your show and listening to your Mom tell about the things that she has done and is doing. I want to be her friend because I too have come back into cross stitching as a senior citizen the past year. Her suggestions for those heading back to cross stitching was great. The reason I got back is that I was a quilter and all of the quilt stores, guilds, small groups all went away with COVID. I fell in love with floss tube videos and became quickly addicted. Now I have so many projects going that I know I will never get them finished in my lifetime. I hope that at least one of my daughters will take up the things that I have. Thank you again. I love your show.
