When the going gets tough, "Sam" gets going. Good luck in life Sam. Your true character is tested not when the sea is calm, but when the storm arrives.
It all makes sense now. As an observer of ASU games, I saw the transfer coming before it even happened. I know he's a freshman, but I saw a lot of bad body language from this kid. It seemed like whenever he didn't get touches or whenever he was taken out of a game, his head hung and he just looked pissed off. I understand he's trying to make it to the NBA, but all I heard in this video was ME, ME, ME. You have to be a team guy in college, especially at a top tier program such as Kansas. Very interested to see how his plays out because the Big 12 is a whole other animal and Bill Self ain't putting up with any of these antics. Hope Sam figures it out.
I met him on a plane ride yesterday and he seemed to have a good attitude on playing for his coach. The only thing he said was that his coach was very intense. But we will see.
My first thought was he should have stuck out the season and did what he could even playing out of position to help his team but once you take a step back and realize that the kid's window to make the NBA is about 4 years give or take so why shouldn't he be happy and pursue his dream the way he wants. In the end, he only has to answer to himself as to the choices he made so good for him for making a decision quickly and moving in another direction.
So he left because he wanted to play a certain position? or Wanted more media coverage? I think Harden was the 3rd pick from ASU I don't get it but goodluck at Kansas
Rock Chalk! Welcome Mr. Cunliffe! It is great that he will get to practice immediately and join the backcourt next year of: Devonte Graham (assuming he stays), Malik Newman, Marcus Garrett, and Legerald Vick! I believe Svi Mykhailiuk turns pro (he tested the combine last year) and Sam takes over his role as a sharpshooting dynamite scorer! Either way, that is a deep backcourt for next season. With Udoka Azubuike returning, Mitch Lightfoot (Sam's friend), Dwight Coleby, and adding PF Billy Preston, KU will be very strong in the paint next year as well! This is a great pickup for Kansas.
He's an excellent jumper. Very explosive. I think his sister is also like the fastest female sprinter in the world. Pretty crazy. I have questions about his mindset. He went to a bunch of different highschools. He transferred at the first sign of adversity. That's not a good sign at all. And he went to Kansas...usually guys transfer because of playing time or shots. He started at ASU. Does he think he's gonna get a bigger role at Kansas??? I hope he's got some good people in his corner who tell him like it is....and not some yes men.
He'll get plenty of minutes at KU. He's got a great skill set and tools. Handles the ball like a savage for a 6'6" guy, very soft shot and accurate from 3. Uber athletic. If he can play D, he can be all-big 12 in 2 years. Self has been playing a 1 in 4-out lineup recently. Sam has skills to play the 3 or a Big 2. He'll be a great asset to KU.
RondoStyle9, oh yeah he well listen to Bill Self!! Coach Self will fix him up! You can't mess with Bill Self!! Sam will be fine for sure! It just up to Sam if he willing to listen! Bill Self is a President lol!!
Fa real, over here on the west coast(cali) been watchin the sam i am videos, even been showing my lil nephew the videos, and i am a lil curious why he transfered...
35% from 2fg and 62% from FT - may want to stop over coaching his shot. Way to many changes at that point in the preseason. I wonder how much the ASU coaches like this kid working with an outside person during their season? IMO, Trainer needs to step away. Let him grow up and figure some stuff out on his own.
They just want to win just like that, young cats nowadays don't realize success comes when you work hard and stick it out instead of jumping another boat thats ready to ship.
He just made it final, he will be eligible to play for Kansas in the Spring semester of 2018 (1 year from now). I've heard no deep insight of why he is transferring. At the end of that video, he vaguely said something about not "fitting" right at ASU. Who knows? His father stated that Sam wants to be on a team that competes for a National Championship. I don't remember his original offers from recruitment. But I know he had his choice of any Pac-12 school he wanted bascially. It definitely wasn't playing time that he was upset about.
Kinda lame wasn't winning or playing his way so he bolts. You effect the team with your attitude and play on the court. Bunch of guys play out of position for their team because they're skilled enough to do it and because it helps team win. Similar to how NBA works you fill a role for a team!
Grant Anderson, exactly couldn't agree more with you. look at ucla they were horrible last year and eventhough TJ Leaf has a huge role on the turnaround, Lonzo was the one that change the way they play and they're only 8 deep team, this dood is just a little prima donna imho.
these video series on youtube are great, I love them..but I think they have increased effect on how these kids view themselves. Get big headed, think they're all destined NBA superstars. A lot of these web series guy have struggled at next level. Trevor Dunbar, Ryan Harrow, Aquille Carr, Kiwi Gardner..etc
Welcome to Kansas Basketball buddy. Coach Self and his staff WILL get you where you need to be, but u gonna have to work hard to get there. Rock Chalk Jayhawk 💙❤️💙
Kid straight up lacks maturity. 3 high schools in 4 years. Transfer after one semester of college. Grow up. Basketball is a team sport. It's not all about you. He's not going to make it until he actually believe in this and his play reflects it.
Been waiting for this 💯
Giannis Antetokounpo .. seen dude hooping? WHAT
Giannis Antetokounpo Kansas good choice

Didnt he transfer to like 4 high schools? why is anyone surprised now?
Mike Zeillmann Exactly. Go Devils!
Mike Zeillmann you probably never hopped a day in your life at this level stop
Mike Zeillmann *hooped
Yea, I only hooped with Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill and the back to back national championship teams during summers growing up.
Finally it came!
Been waiting on this
these are tthe best al!
can't wait for next episode 44
So he left because he wanted to play a certain position? or Wanted more media coverage? I think Harden was the 3rd pick from ASU I don't get it but goodluck at Kansas
Rampart D. He transferred because he said he was homesick. But I'm pretty sure ASU is closer to Washington than Kansas is.🤔😒
Go Devils!
+Teedog 84 the NCAA told him he couldn't transfer to a PAC 12 team
If you transfer you can't transfer to a school in the same conference
Rampart D. It's cuz Hurley was fucking him.. he was playing like a 4 and had hella mismatches on D he's a guard not a post
Sam, Trae Young, Malik newman and Preston to go along with Vick is gonna be crazy
Don't forget about big Dok.
Dok and Marcus Garrett too..... Team is going to be ridiculous to watch!
TRAE YOUNG? LMFAOOOOOO
Meh, T Young was a luxury. Devote Graham is a top-10 player in the NCAA ... much better on this team that T Young.
Trae Young is at Oklahoma
Finally🔥
This dude is the most loyal person I have ever seen
JK!!! Kansas is farther from Washington than ASU dummy
waiting on this

Mike Zeillmann Yup!

His favorite dunk would be throwing it off the backboard .
He thought he was going to play with Thon Maker... like everybody did.
so why exactly did he transfer?
stevenjm12 That's what I'm wondering. He won't play nearly as much at Kansas as he did at AZ
I dont understand the decision at all. He was doing well at ASU.
Andrew Allen when did he transfer?
He just made it final, he will be eligible to play for Kansas in the Spring semester of 2018 (1 year from now). I've heard no deep insight of why he is transferring. rock chalk

Most players in the nba today played out of position. He should have just sucked it up and stayed.
Why do they use such a crappy ball when training?
ampworkz22 grip control as far as dribbling shooting etc. so he ready game time
