When I didn't have money for racing a flying games, I used my steering wheel for it. It was a Logitech MOMO. I used the wheel to roll and the sequential shifter to pitch up and down.
Before that, I had the opposite thing going. Back in early 2000's I played NFS Porsche Unleashed with a yoke controller for flight sims. Simple setup. Press in to give gas, pull back to brake, and twist to steer. It was a sight but I made it work.
