    Hi Rane, I just had my stomach removed Monday February 4th. I was so disappointed that they didn't give me any ice cream. I was really looking forward was too it. 😁 It's actually listed as a food that's less tolerable according to the nutritionists in Canada. I stumbled across your videos a couple of weeks before my surgery and it really helped to see someone who had been through it and is living a positive life without looking like they are half dead. So thank you for sharing. It's always been a dream of mine to go to Australia so maybe we can meet up and have a stomachless lunch one day. Cheers,
    Paul

    Rane, your video gives me encouragement because you look healthy and strong, as compared to other folks that have lost a lot of weight and appear gaunt. For many years I've had precancerous cells in my stomach, I do get semi regular scopes to keep things under observation. My biggest problem is that I had been on prescribed acid blockers for decades and these had destroyed my stomachs ability to create its own acids, I'm no longer on any such medication, but the acid has not been reactivated and so I MUST take betaine hcl with pepsin and also apple cider vinegar. Yes, this does help, though my stomach remains VERY sensitive and the last few days I have eaten chocolate and am experiencing great discomfort! In general, my stomach very much impacts the quality of my life and ability to work. I soon will see my gastroenterologist for scoping and discussion regarding the possibly of having my stomach removed if healing is not to be secured. Thanks again for the informative and promising message!

      Thanks Vincent, I'm beginning to feel improvements since starting betaine hcl with pepsin and getting on some good quality digestive enzymes. I've also found green tea to be very soothing for my stomach! I'm now doing my best to avoid things that irritate such a coffee, chocolate, spicy and fried foods, alcohol and a lengthy list of other things. I will follow your recommendation of celery juice taken on an empty stomach, I've been reading good things about it ... thanks again Vincent!

    I'm 2 years in, and I think my problem at the moment is not general diet (on good days I can eat whatever I want), but the high frequency of "bad days" when nothing will stay down.
    Does anyone else get those?

    Currently, I'm at 28 days post-op.
    My nutritionists said i need to drink 200ml nutrition-densed liquid 5 times a day to fullfill my daily calories needs.
    How do you drink that much water without stressing out the intestine?
    Because I tried 3 spoon liquid for every 15 minutes (which took a long time to finish 200ml), and my intestine are rumbling and producing gas.
    Thanks.

    Did you have to have a esophagus built? My total Gastrectomy was in mid 2018. My stomach, partial intestine, partial esophagus plus other organs removed. I was in a feeding tube and PICC line giving me TPN.m since late 2015 when my stomach perforated.
    Three months after my gastrectomy I had a partial esophagus built to reach directly into my intestines. I went in every 3 weeks to build it, and then every 3 months to dilate it. It's now the size of a boba straw. Unfortunately when I was at my sickest, I was severely malnourished and dehydrated. My perfect teeth began to crumble like chalk! I had to get them all removed. So not only has my entire digestive system been removed, I cannot chew food. It is medically necessary for me to have a full mouth restoration with implants, but insurance doesn't cover it and I cannot afford the $28k!
    I was told my lifespan is 5-10 years.

    Trade ya! I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 20, at 21 my large intestine ruptured, killing me for 3 minutes, they revived me, and long story short…they also found intestinal cancer, have 4 relapses, had 37 surgeries in total, leaving me with less the 5% of my GI tract, now my internal organs are dying because I don’t have enough intestine to absorb nutrients and liquids, when they from 220lbs, to 130lbs in one year, and cannot gain weight no matter what I eat. Now my kidneys failed because of lack of fluids and nutrients reaching my internal organs, forcing me to go on daily IV infusions at home forever, to keep my internal organs for shutting down. I’m 53, but can only eat less then a cup full of food at a time, as I have zero room inside. My life span has been reduced by 20 years at least, and my body is dependent on IV nutrients and fluids to survive, but it’s barely enough, I’m damaged internally beyond repair. True, I’m lucky to have survived, as I was suppose to die 4 times already, but it’s definitely NOT easy, so I know exactly how it feels! I’d kill to be healthy and be able to eat whatever I want…I’m gutless, literally, but still alive, I plan on prooving my doctors wrong regarding my life span!

    • @GIguy
      @GIguy 2 года назад

      @@RaneBowen thank you so much, but there’s one thing I never understand, is what you said, that I’m so brave. I always thought I was a total wimp, I was afraid of my own shadow when I was a kid, I don’t think it’s a matter of bravery, for me it’s the fact that I’m very stubborn, I’ll do anything to survive, because despite how sick I am, I’m still the only caregiver for my elderly parents, who can’t live without my help. I still go to their house many times a week and do everything I can for them so they can stay in their own home. They refuse to go to a nursing home, and I don’t blame them, they’re both 90, I’m lucky to still have both my parents at this age, so it’s not bravery, it’s stubbornness, and the need to stay alive and functioning as long as I can because I’m no good to anyone if I die, and my parents need me desperately. It’s definitely not easy, I play it down, they don’t know how sick I truly am, and that’s the way it stays because I refuse to add to the stress. My mother God love her worries constantly about me because she does know I’ve been through cancer and all those operations, so right or wrong I lie to her and tell her that I’m feeling wonderful even on the days I feel like I’m about to die. I think most people of my situation, and there is a lot of us, all react similarly, we didn’t want to be stuck with this situation but we are so all we can do is make the best of it. If it wasn’t for the love and support of my family I don’t think I would be here, so now it’s my turn to do the same, and while I’ve had to actually call for outside help to care for them because I can’t do it all myself anymore, they don’t know that, as long as they are safe and happy, that’s the only thing that matters to me, and I will do everything I can until my dying day, to make sure it stays that way. What I’ve been through has been absolutely agonizing, I won’t lie about that, but what hurts even more is seeing the people I love most hurting because of me. I can’t allow that to happen, and in a strange way, it’s a good thing because it keeps me going, it gives me a reason to get up in the morning, if I didn’t have them, I don’t really see a reason to keep fighting, but because I do have that reason, I try to remain as positive as I can, and I cherish every second I get to spend with my parents. Luckily longevity runs in the family, we have countless people on both sides living well into their hundreds, unfortunately I’m adopted so I don’t share their genetic strength, but it gives me hope to know that I’ll always have a reason to get up and keep fighting. If I can’t help people, especially people I love that much, then I don’t see a reason to live, because for me, helping others is the main reason to keep fighting for survival. Thanks again, hope you had a wonderful holiday season and have a great New Year’s!
