A big part of the reason you may not have heard of Fire Emblem much is that, for a long time, Fire Emblem was one of Nintendo's lower-performing series, especially in the west. In fact, Nintendo told the developers that Fire Emblem Awakening (which came out in 2012 in Japan, 2013 everywhere else) would be the last of the series if it failed to break 250,000 sales. It sold more than 450,000 units within its first couple of months, and ultimately went on to sell 1.9 million copies worldwide. Suffice it to say the series was *not* cancelled, and the game this is from, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, sold more than three million copies worldwide.
The combined version is basically how you would experience it playing the game. So it kinda replicates the experience of how you would hear it for the first time. Also only listening to the map version or only the combat version wouldn't get everything the track has to offer, so the combined version sort of gets the job done for that.
The track you listened to was a combination of two. The standard map and the combat version (sometimes referred to as the Ablaze version) For context: this track plays in one ending out of four against the resurrected corpse of a man believed by many to be a god king. The music has a tendency to feel all over the place at times as a reflection of the narrative surrounding the final boss in contrast to what actually happened during his life. Primarily the track fluctuates between a proper variant of classical music that's more befitting of an ancient hero king but there are sections of it that throw that into question as it shifts into something that would be more closely attributed to someone of lower standing, someone who, funnily enough, lacks an understanding of traditional classical music and themes as a result of them perhaps not being what they have been believed to be. In reality, the man was no king. This is the theme of a thief and a murderer. Additionally, this track can be used to highlight the romanticism of war as the more classical sections are used for a top down view of the boss map while the more chaotic and disorganized sections are reserved for actual combat. If you had only listened to the map version, you might remember it better and that's by design. The tracks together are constructed in a way as if they're supposed to screw with your memory. As if history itself were rewritten
For reference, the version names in FE:TH are Rain (for map) and Thunder (for Combat). To my knowledge each game that separates them has unique version titles.
It's always fun to see people react to this one! The lyrics for the song were revealed in a booklet for the game's OST. Here: Arise, you who do not fear death. Take up arms with your heads held high. Dwell not on the corpses of our comrades. Warriors, rally under this flag. This, our icon of resistance and liberation. To reclaim our pride from the so-called God. Warriors, howl! Follow me through this wasteland. In this strife of rebellion. Follow the trembling of your body and soul Like the wind that blows through all Fodlan. Like the dawn that paints the great Oghma Mountains. Stomp your feet, raise your voice, as fierce as a lion. Our cries ride the wind across the dried land. Let this roar reach the desert of the Fell Star. Revere me, the liberator of all. O mystifying relic, pierce the heavens. For I am rage incarnate. For I am the God Shattering Star.
Jesse as a heads up for if you ever do more Fire Emblem: Three Houses songs in the future, all of the songs which play during a chapter in the game (which is most of the songs) have two versions. There is a rain version and a thunder version. The rain version is the normal version and is what you hear when your observing the battlefield. The thunder version is usually higher paced and more intense, often having more percussion, and is what plays when there is a battle between two units. In game these versions will transition seamlessly at different times, just whenever a battle is initiated or ends. However when listening outside of the game, it is best to listen to the versions separately to fully experience how you most likely would be hearing the song. What you listened to today was an odd mashup of the Rain and Thunder versions of the song, which is part of why it sounds a bit odd. I would recommend giving this song a relisten as the two parts seperately.
I'm so excited. God Shattering Star is one of the best final boss OSTs in FE in my honest opinion. The strings, the amazing orchestral hits, the powerful vocals, the motif, and the sounds of Byleth yelling "HERE'S SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN!!" tops it all off. What a masterpiece.
God shattering star and Twilight of the Gods fighting for the title of best final boss theme. With maybe Apex of the World being the third due to the use of the main theme
Honestly I prefer Funeral of Flowers. This is really cool but FoF mixes tragedy and epic battle music and uses the motifs from the Song of the Nabateans _and_ the Edge of Dawn. FoF is (I believe) one of the rare cases of a returning motif on this OST, which makes me appreciate it more. It’s also way more fitting the overall tone and theme of the game with how sad yet epic it is.
As a percussionist, this song is amazing. Not only is there heavy usage of percussion instruments in a more "classical" manner, but the song itself does some cool rythmatic stuff with the other instruments that is usually more prominent in percussion. The syncopated stuff in particular is so cool, especially how they make it fit in the normal on beat stuff. It's nice to see the whole song do that, rather than just one or two instruments.
Also, the grand feeling matches really well. Since in fire emblem, thematically, you are controlling more of an army, and less of a party of characters. Most battles are seen as large-scale conflicts, and the main character is like the commanding general.
The best part of this song is that the level prior uses a dubstep soundtrack, which is _weird_ for a fantasy series. Then the final boss level starts and _THIS_ kicks on. It’s such an insane whiplash, going from normal orchestral, to dubstep, to _opera_ (in a game that almost never uses vocals). That said, my favorite song from this game will always be Funeral of Flowers. Which is, of course, the most underrated theme of them all.
I’m so happy to see your reaction! I absolutely love Fire Emblem TH’s music, so seeing this request come through was very exciting. This song is a masterpiece through and through. Now, it IS a combination of two different variants which was probably what makes it so chaotic. That and it is the final canon boss’s theme so chaotic wouldn’t be too far off. 😂 Also… Black Eagle House ftw babyyyyyy
Fire emblem in general has amazing soundtracks, its final boss ones never disappoint, if you are interested in more, ID purpose, End to all and Twilight of the Gods are all amazing tracks.
Joe zeija the voice of Claude sung this song before on RUclips he is a cool guy. I would totally recommend A Funeral For Flowers. It's not as popular as God Shattering Star but, it hit me emotionally as it was the final route I played.
-If you want another epic FE final boss theme, check out Twilight of the Gods from Shadows of Valentia. It was the last 3DS Fire Emblem and is unironically one of the best in the series for many reasons including the music.- Aight, nvm, got that song's reaction recommended shortly after, hot damn.
I've only recently gotten into the Fire Emblem series by playing Awakening. Which for a handheld game, I wasn't expecting such amazing music - but damn for this they went really crazy. This is fantastic and I can't wait to get a Switch to play it
This song plays on the final map of one of Three House's multiple routes, and I have to say I was not expecting a song with this much energy to play so when I clicked the ready button after doing my setup and the first note played I shit my pants right then and there, and my whole body got chills and was covered in goosebumps. I'll never forget this song or what the map in the game looked like, and I'll never forgive Nintendo for not putting this song into Smash Bros >:(
You said "please tell me there's a live version of this." Well, I got you, man. FamilyJules did a version of it featuring the VA of one of the characters in the game for the vocals, which was absolutely amazing, found here: ruclips.net/video/fhWhTbe3MWk/видео.html&ab_channel=FamilyJules
And fittingly enough, the VA for the character is the one who gets to jam out to the song while attempting to strike down an ancient king from bygone days. And somehow the canonical final boss.
6:42 - It's not a live version exactly, but there IS a metal cover featuring epic vocals from one of the main VAs for this game! It came to us courtesy of FamilyJules, everyone's favourite spiky VGM shredder.
this one is actually one of the final boss themes (since the game has multiple routes with different final boss themes). Overall songs that i'd recommend from the series are a all of the final boss themes, but those will be recommended anyway, so i'll go with some of the suggestions i suspect people won't bring up as much: From the same game, so Three Houses: Blue Skies and a Battle. It is a battle theme that plays on an important map that is shared between multiple routes, and has different versions for the different routes that still sound kinda similar. From the other game that you've already had on here, which was Echoes, i'd recommend "In a Silver Garden with you", "What Lies at the End" and "Sea Winds and Travellers". In order, these are one fairly short and quiet piece, which is used in one of the games key scenes, one of the games later battle themes with a massive brass section making the piece sound like a march and for the last piece, the port location theme, which sounds very different from most of the soundtrack, in a way that really fits the location. And then i'm gonna give three more recommendations from my favourite game of the series, FE Fates: "Alight (Storm)" and "Justice RIP", both of which are fairly tense pieces which are used in battles later on in the game, but with very different instrumentation, as well as "Road Taken (Calm)". The last one is used on every single grind map in the game and i somehow am still not tired of hearing it. Lastly, i'll give one more recommendation that is *really* out there, which is "Side Battle" from FE: Path of Radiance.
If you like the dramatic flare of this fe track, I highly suggest giving "Scions Dance in Purgatory" a reaction as well! I haven't seen music people react/analyze it.
With regards to the language, this was actually sung in an invented language created specifically for it, nobody has successfully translated it and it could be entirely nonsense but it has a lot of structure for that, presumably the lyrics have an in universe lore meaning known only to the developers. If it is just straight nonsense words, it's very talented put together nonsense words.
Love your Fire Emblem OST reactions, hope to see more in the future! Now you definitely need to react to the ending theme of Fire Emblem Awakening, Id Purpose
your feelings from this song are spot on it's the theme from the final boss for one story path of the game yes it's big yes it's epic and it's intimidating and unpredictable af fitting for a resurrescted demi-god set on destroying the world this game is all over the place in terms of musical variety another song from this game that i'd recommend you listen to (even if you don't react to it) would be Area 17 / The City Without Light it's also an oddball song
When playing the game, you will definitely hear all of this more than a few times, so you can be sure we learned it a bit. Honestly, this plays at one of the endings of the game. I had heard the song from another one of them, which was amazing too. But this one, I had heard God Shattering Star was amazing, so I avoided spoiling myself. In game was the first time I heard it. When I started the battle, I just sta there in my couch listening for a bit, not doing anything. This was not anything I could have expected, but it fit so well, I was honestly mesmerized. Just found you channel, thank you for reacting to this!
Not necessarily a reaction, but if you enjoyed this, you should check out FamilyJules cover- it's *amazing* and also they got one of the main characters voice actors to actually sing it!
This isn’t the actual music. It’s a fan made combination of two versions. The vocal version (Rain version) is the one you want. If you do any more FE: Three Houses reactions, just a head up.
OMG. LOVE!! the back ground music, never would of thought I would just randomly here a Gunbound track in the back ground of a youtube video. You get a sub just for using that track.
I'd like a throw out there that there is a metal cover of this done by FamilyJules that features the VA for one of the main protags. They do an absolutely fantastic job on it and Jules is just an amazing artist, period.
Just randomly got this recommendation. I actually love this song, it truly hypes up this routes final boss. The character is imposing and powerful, just like this song. The battle is hard fought and a struggle between two powers. Whoever composed this knew what they were doing.
I'd strongly recommend Funeral of Flowers from the same game. The best arr. imo is the one by zxapocrypha where he blends the solo piano performance with a full orchestral playthrough. The piece itself reminds me a lot of late romantic piano pieces, and there are some neat endings and tempo changes with fun runs and great countermelodies. I think you would love the harmonics and chord voicings used in either version. In my opinion, it is the best piece fire emblem as a series has to offer, and I dearly hope you get the chance to react to it.
This song always reminds me something like a epic horse chase like the first LOTR movies with the Nazgul chasing Aragorn elf girlfrriend but a 9 min chase Or the Dude that named the Marathons like showing him running for days and facing countless dangers to deliver a vital message
If you want another song from this game I suggest Edge of Dawn, which is also really good but way less complicated. Another great song that feels like it's from a completely different game is the Shambala theme!
There's some complaints about it not being all one version or all the other version, but much like when you listened to the MGR songs where they had the transitions (The Only Thing I Know For Real, Stains of Time) this is a song that changes to the circumstance. On the map, it is "calmer" and when you're watching the combat animations it gets into the fired up aggressive version of the same song. This is more authentic to the experience if you were playing it, tbh. Also, I doubt this'll work but I'll try: You've heard some good fighting game music, but it's been mainly Arc Sys stuff that has the Daisuke Ishiwatari influence. I'd like to recommend King of Fighters 2000's arranged version of Goodbye, Esaka. It's the theme of Kyo Kusanagi, one of the protagonists of KOF, and was made because SNK thought it would be their last KOF game. Here's the link for the specific version, if you do see this: ruclips.net/video/1M_W8bGZt94/видео.html
Fire Emblem is my favourite video game franchise and has been since I was way too young to understand anything about strategy or tactics for me it's always been about 2 things, Characters and Music and this is a fantastic example of the music side of that.
its so cool, when you replay de game, and in the opening intro, when nemesis drops in the battle field, and for a brief second, you hear the leit motiv of god shattering star, specially if yor first route was the golden deers, right in the feels.
There is a chill version of each map song that switches to it's intense version combat version, whenever 2 units engage in combat with each other. This version mixed the intense combat varient with the more chill map theme.
The main reason why this song feels so long or "doesn't loop" is because this particular video itself. One thing Fire Emblem loves to do is have two versions of a song: one for whichever map you're on and another for when you are in combat. Fire Emblem is a turnbased tactical RPG. So yeah, the map version of a song is a bit more "calmer" while the in combat version is the more dynamic or bombastic. In Three Houses, the track names are literally split "rain" or "thunder" to show that contrast, respectively. And with this video in particular, they mashed both versions together and swings between the two. What I like to do is listen to one or the other version, or if I want to go on a goddamn journey, I'll put this on. Hope this kinda helps explains things
The biggest issue I have with God Shattering Star is that it only shows up in the final map for only one of four routes. Meanwhile Apex of the World ends two routes, and I always forget the fourth one uses. Speaking of which, I'm sure I don't have to mention that Apex of the World is also worth listening to. It's not as epic and over-the-top as this one, but instead is a more traditional piece with a heavy character focus on one of the major characters in the story.
This is a weird one for me. While I was playing I heard this was a special track but I hadn't heard it yet. Sadly by the time I did experience the track I was soooo done with the game xD It wasn't until I heard some covers of the song that I could really appreciate how complex and epic it is. Notably FamilyJules did a guitar cover with Joe Zieja (voice of one of the main characters).
Loved your reaction, there are so many good fire emblem songs. I love to see you liking it and Xenoblade music so much. I’m terms of other songs to cover. There’s main theme “the edge of dawn” as well as it’s more aggressive version as one of the final boss themes “apex of the world” both are worth the listen. Also blue skies and a battle is another must listen from this game.
I definitely recommend the uncombine version (rain) rather than this combined version. In Fire Emblem, all the music that plays during battle has two versions - one version that plays as you move your units around, and another version that it transitions into at the exact same spot of the song when you attack something. When that attack is over, the game seamlessly transitions back to the first version and it does this back and forth as you play. You heard the combined version, which honestly was a stupid idea and the person should not have uploaded that. That's not how the song is meant to be heard. I personally recommend the rain version. In Three Houses, there are 3 different paths you can take and there is a final boss for each of the houses. This song is for one of those final boss maps (The Golden Deer). You also listened to Apex of the Wold, which I think is the final boss map for The Black Eagles.
a couple of things. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a live performance of this, but I do believe that this is a live recording. If you listen close at the beginning of the song, you can actually hear the chairs squeaking in the silence between the notes. Also, this particular recording is spliced there are two versions of this song one with the vocals and one without. This person splice these into a back and forth between the two versions
This song pretty much embodies a giant divine object of unimaginable scale & power shattering a God. Everything about this was designed to embody grandiosity & unimaginable complexity. The introduction is literally like every single instrument in the orchestra united to generate the utmost force possible. Humans are not supposed to be able to comprehend the power of God, and we are faced with it our brain fails to comprehend it and fear of the unknown is created. You experienced megalophobia from music. PS: I recommend watching Alex Moukala's video where he attempts to deconstruct what makes the piece so grand. ruclips.net/video/mcAVYznzYLA/видео.html
So every battle track in this game has 2 different versions that play based on your camera level. When the camera is at the more macro level it plays the main version of the theme(these are listed as the rain version in the ost), while the more close in the action view switches to the more percussive version which will also cut the vocals in the songs that have them (these tracks are thunder in the ost). The one exception is the song funeral of flowers which when in the “thunder” version drops all elements but the piano.
I guess you could call this genre 'pants-shitting final boss fight' ? 😂 People are all up in arms about this being a blend, but to me, it felt like a proper tribute to a razor sharp strategist trying to manage and endure a chaotic final battle. Congrats on getting through this track! I need to dig through the Bayonetta soundtrack to see if there's something you might enjoy
Playing that map on the highest difficulty made this song even greater, the constant stress level I had during that fight was amazing and fun at the same time. Strangely enough, demoting my archer units was the key to win that battle haha. I loved your baffled reaction to it :D
@@TheCoolerDrilis Asking me that 10 months later makes it a bit hard to remember tbh^^ but I think it had to do with their range (the demote sniper can shoot 3 spaces far, the master class bow knight only 2) and I think they didn't need the extra horse movement on the map, so I went for better range instead to prevent the snipers from getting countered. I'm not 100 % sure though if that was the reason since it's been a while when I played that map.
@@TheCoolerDrilis iirc they can walk farther, but they can only shoot 2 spaces far, snipers 3, and the map only allowed cautious progress because maddening was very lethal. Correct me please if I'm wrong, I haven't played the game for almost a year.
Fire Emblem actually doesn't have that big of a fan base; it certainly gained a lot of newcomers with Three Houses, but it's still a pretty niche Nintendo series. FE has a pretty good community actually, and one of my fondest memories is of when 3H came out (and even leading up to it for months) and everyone was just incredibly full of enthusiasm; Twitter was full of people talking about it, sharing fanart, memes, new info; there was even huge involvement in all this from the voice actors, and it was lovely because for a lot of them this was a huge step in their career.
The name infers to the how the names for the months as Moons and those of legends being Stars. Nemesis is referred to as the God Shattering Star due to his wielding of the Sword of Creator, which was made with the heart and bones of the Goddess Sothis. The protag(commonly known as Byleth) is referred to as the Fell Star due to the power to wield that of Sothis' power. The song(after officially translated) refers to Nemesis and his undead army arising to free Fodlan(the game's setting) from the grip of Sothis and her followers. One of the greatest Final Boss themes next to Soul of Cinder (Dark Souls 3).
Three houses, and fire emblem in general, have great music. Unfortunately, thos cut version of theysic is very badly combined, so you don't really get the actual impact of the song. I'd find a different version if you do any other fe songs
Each battle map in Three Houses, I think with the exception of Shambala, has two versions. The Rain version plays on the battle map, while the Thunder version plays in combat and is (usually) mor intense. This video actually combines the Rain and Thunder versions of God Shattering Star into an “extended” version. You can tell which parts are Rain, since they have the lyrics.
@@NuiYabuko It’s possible that Shambala has Rain and Thunder versions, but it’s the only area theme on the officially released OST that doesn’t have that variation.
Excellent reaction! thank you for the video, Jesse. Maybe you can try with Octopath Traveler OST? The One They Call the Witch + Daughter of the Dark God, are 2 songs but the best is to listen to them together, hope you give a try!
Your reaction to this was really nice, I like how much you like it :D I'm even quite surprised how you say that this song is going to be 50/50 because until now I've always only heard "it's amazing, how can someone not like it," etc.! While I do appreciate this track musically for what it is, I can't bring myself to like it at all. Maybe it was too chaotic for me without a proper guiding line. Maybe your "complicated" is what I'm also feeling - but yes, musically, it's *really* amazing! But then again, I mostly rate music by how much they make me want to write a story and this just gives me ... nothing. Maybe because it is so strong that I can't form thoughts on it x'D I do wonder how I'll feel about this track if I ever get to this fight in the game but for now it's more like "skip" sadly 😅
While this song is very popular, I would have assumed it was a 50/50 if I didn't have context. Hard to folloe music doesn't usually make popular songs lol
It should be noted that the video Jesse watched actually combined "Rain"(map) and "Thunder" (battle) versions of the track into one. That's why it's so long and all over the place. Personally, I don't hate it, but it's definitely not something that should be reviewed, since it's a fan-made mix.
9 mil views and quite a few of those are from me. 😂This is such a good track. My memory with this was I rushed the last part of the game and stepped into this final boss battle and I was very unprepared. 😂 The music only made me more anxious but it was still an excellent fight that I eventually won.
I love seeing a composer react to Fire Emblem music. Final boss tracks are always wonderful in the series Would definitely reccommend giving "Twilight of the Gods"a listen, it was another final boss track in the series that is also much loved
It definitely has biblical influences as all the plot lines involve gods and holy wars. The language the singer uses is a completely made up language that is supposed to imitate church Latin and is something I struggle to learn the music to. All those emotions you felt are what you are supposed to feel. This is the final boss music of one of the four routes where you take on a creature of pure darkness and vengeance. He comes in during the moment of triumph after you defeat the last of your enemies. And this song definitely hyped up his battle. When I was playing Golden Deer for the first time and thought “Hmm. That’s weird that this route doesn’t have an endgame map.” And then this song started with the balling cutscene of *Spoilers* breaking out of a chained and manacled coffin. I won’t say it’s hands down the best song on the soundtrack- there are definitely other contenders like Apex of the World- but I personally think it takes the cake.
Enjoyed your reaction! I’d recommend listening to “Lost in Paradise” by ALI - not a VGM, so not a channel recommendation, but a personal listen recommendation.
As another possible foray into FE music, one I feel I can very highly recommend is, "Lord of a Dead Empire," from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It's a very intense, but also incredibly somber track.
FE has so much amazing music. Notable Boss themes would be (Id) Purpose, End of All, & The Apex of the World (Rain). And a lot of map themes are reall bangers too, inlcuding but not limited to: Fodlan Winds (Rain) , Between Heaven & Earth (Rain), The Shacled Wolves (Rain), Alight (Storm), Justice RIP (Storm), Dusk Falls (Fire), What Lies at the End, With Mila's Divine Protection, March of Delievernce, Eternal Bond, Duty (Ablaze), and especially "Dont Speak Her Name" Pls if youre gonna react to a non-Boss theme from FE, then please react to "Dont Speak Her Name"
I would highly recommend listening to A funeral of flowers which is also from 3H! For me it’s my personal favorite in the entire soundtrack. You would be surprised that it is also a final boss theme when you hear - it just gives out such a different vibe compared to apex and shattering star
This song is sort of the One Winged Angel of Fire Emblem, to me - most people go absolutely bonkers about it but I don't care for it that much. And yeah it's a final boss theme, lol. There are many other songs I much prefer in this game, songs like Fodlan Winds, Chasing Daybreak, Roar of Dominion, Apex of the World, which of course I'd love to see you cover at some point.
The video you chose is actually a combination of two different versions of the song. Because Fire Emblem is a strategy game, you constantly transition between an overhead tactical view and a close up view of the action when units engage. Many songs in more recent Fire Emblem games have 2 versions, one that plays when the camera is pulled out (usually called the "Rain" or "Calm" version) and another that plays when up close in the action (usually called the "Thunder", "Roar", or "Ablaze" version). They flow into one another smoothly, but generally speaking the Rain variants have softer sounds while the Thunder variants have louder percussion.
If you want more fire emblem songs, I'll recommend some other good ones: The Black Knight (or Against the Black Knight if you want a faster version) Twilight of the Gods Id (Purpose) Dont Speak Her Name
Haha yeah, some random bandit ambushes you in the woods, this song drops 🤣. Nah, it is A Final Boss theme, Fire Emblem Three Houses, let's you Play 3(or 4)Different storylines and this is the Final Boss theme for...."The Yellow House".
I have a massive suggestion from the same game, and I promise it would be great. Beyond Heaven and Earth is the title. Its my favorite piece from the game.
@@Mrinsecure thank you for your service!
This is two version's of the song combined. So that might be why it feels so hard to grasp. And yes, this is a final boss theme
Oh god why does everyone always recommend the inferior combined version
The combined version is basically how you would experience it playing the game. So it kinda replicates the experience of how you would hear it for the first time. Also only listening to the map version or only the combat version wouldn't get everything the track has to offer, so the combined version sort of gets the job done for that.
The combined version really needs to not be the main one. It's way inferior
I cry inside every time someone reacts to this version.
@Amitlu It's the first version that appears when you search for the music on youtube. (wich is a sin, let me tell you.)
The track you listened to was a combination of two.
The standard map and the combat version (sometimes referred to as the Ablaze version)
For context: this track plays in one ending out of four against the resurrected corpse of a man believed by many to be a god king.
Did not expect to scroll down and see a narrative analysis of the song. Was a cool surprise.
For reference, the version names in FE:TH are Rain (for map) and Thunder (for Combat). To my knowledge each game that separates them has unique version titles.
It's always fun to see people react to this one! The lyrics for the song were revealed in a booklet for the game's OST. Here:
Arise, you who do not fear death.
Follow the trembling of your body and soul
Like the wind that blows through all Fodlan.
@@ethanrichard5662 I beg to differ with Apex of the world bing the third, when Id (Purpose) exists.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 I agree
Fire Emblem doesn't often go opera but when it does it's always cranked to maximum epicness.
"So aggressive yet so Calm"
Claude in a nutshell lol
Yeah lol! After I found the lyrics for the song it actually reminds me of him rather than Nemesis now. But you can interpret it for both ends.
Damn, even the gacha game has banger music
Joe zeija the voice of Claude sung this song before on RUclips he is a cool guy.
I would totally recommend A Funeral For Flowers. It's not as popular as God Shattering Star but, it hit me emotionally as it was the final route I played.
Also the 4th route I played and I really wasn’t expecting a piano ballad for the final song
@@rhettmitchell I really liked that it used the melody played for most church of seiros scenes.
yeah highly recommend listening to a funeral of flowers, it definitely hits really hard in the emotional factor.
-If you want another epic FE final boss theme, check out Twilight of the Gods from Shadows of Valentia. It was the last 3DS Fire Emblem and is unironically one of the best in the series for many reasons including the music.-
Aight, nvm, got that song's reaction recommended shortly after, hot damn.
I'll never forget this song or what the map in the game looked like, and I'll never forgive Nintendo for not putting this song into Smash Bros >:(
That map is the most excited I've ever been for a swamp of all things in an FE game.
It is not in Three Hopes too.
For me, "video game music" should be a genre. It has it's own codes that make it unique, especially for battle musics.
You said "please tell me there's a live version of this." Well, I got you, man.
FamilyJules did a version of it featuring the VA of one of the characters in the game for the vocals, which was absolutely amazing, found here:
ruclips.net/video/fhWhTbe3MWk/видео.html&ab_channel=FamilyJules
And fittingly enough, the VA for the character is the one who gets to jam out to the song while attempting to strike down an ancient king from bygone days. And somehow the canonical final boss.
6:42 - It's not a live version exactly, but there IS a metal cover featuring epic vocals from one of the main VAs for this game! It came to us courtesy of FamilyJules, everyone's favourite spiky VGM shredder.
The craziest thing is that the boss fight was so engaging that I didn't even notice the song during it.
Absolutely love it now. XD
That map was definitely the best map in the game
SEIROS!
Thank you! Would love to see more Three Houses soundtrack reactions. It is my favorite game of all time, and I love the OST to death!
Also one of my favourite games and OSTs of all time.
this one is actually one of the final boss themes (since the game has multiple routes with different final boss themes). Overall songs that i'd recommend from the series are a all of the final boss themes, but those will be recommended anyway, so i'll go with some of the suggestions i suspect people won't bring up as much:
From the same game, so Three Houses: Blue Skies and a Battle.
I’d say Indomitable Will is one of the better songs in the game too. And the DLC battle song Shackled Wolves
Imagine listening to Shambhala (Area 17 Redux) after that. Same game, yet such difference in style.
The most out of place yet epic song in the game.
your feelings from this song are spot on
it's the theme from the final boss for one story path of the game
yes it's big
yes it's epic
and it's intimidating
and unpredictable af
fitting for a resurrescted demi-god set on destroying the world
this game is all over the place in terms of musical variety
another song from this game that i'd recommend you listen to (even if you don't react to it) would be Area 17 / The City Without Light
it's also an oddball song
"Everything about it was so big" I feel like 'grandiose' is a good word for this song
Epic opera boss themes need to come back in full swing again
When playing the game, you will definitely hear all of this more than a few times, so you can be sure we learned it a bit.
Honestly, this plays at one of the endings of the game. I had heard the song from another one of them, which was amazing too. But this one, I had heard God Shattering Star was amazing, so I avoided spoiling myself.
In game was the first time I heard it. When I started the battle, I just sta there in my couch listening for a bit, not doing anything. This was not anything I could have expected, but it fit so well, I was honestly mesmerized.
Just found you channel, thank you for reacting to this!
God Shattering Star is amazing. The only reason I haven't heard it yet is because I'm grinding support ranks on Verdant Wind route.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS !!!!
This track is one of my favorites on the album. I love the sudden twists and turns and discordant feel to it. The chaos of it pulls me in every time.
OMG. LOVE!! the back ground music, never would of thought I would just randomly here a Gunbound track in the back ground of a youtube video. You get a sub just for using that track.
Gunbound was my middle school nights
I'd like a throw out there that there is a metal cover of this done by FamilyJules that features the VA for one of the main protags. They do an absolutely fantastic job on it and Jules is just an amazing artist, period.
I checked it out and commented ^_^
This song always reminds me something like a epic horse chase like the first LOTR movies with the Nazgul chasing Aragorn elf girlfrriend but a 9 min chase
Or the Dude that named the Marathons like showing him running for days and facing countless dangers to deliver a vital message
If you want another song from this game I suggest Edge of Dawn, which is also really good but way less complicated. Another great song that feels like it's from a completely different game is the Shambala theme!
Oh you know this is gonna be godly
Love these reactions, this game and this OST. I would love to see “Paths That Never Cross” next.
its so cool, when you replay de game, and in the opening intro, when nemesis drops in the battle field, and for a brief second, you hear the leit motiv of god shattering star, specially if yor first route was the golden deers, right in the feels.
I was thinking that this wuld be something classical composers whuld shed a tear if they heared this
The biggest issue I have with God Shattering Star is that it only shows up in the final map for only one of four routes.
Notably FamilyJules did a guitar cover with Joe Zieja (voice of one of the main characters).
this is honestly the greatest piece of music ive ever heard composed for a video game ngl
Ahh! I'd love to see you react to Id Purpose from Fire Emblem: Awakening. It's just so good!
Put it in as my Patreon request last month, so it's in the eventual queue ;)
@@Quetzelkoa YAAAAAAAS
@@Quetzelkoa Thank you!
There isn't an official live version, but the voice actor for one of the protagonists sang operatic on a metal cover by FamilyJules
Demoting? How did that help?
@@TheCoolerDrilis Asking me that 10 months later makes it a bit hard to remember tbh^^ but I think it had to do with their range (the demote sniper can shoot 3 spaces far, the master class bow knight only 2) and I think they didn't need the extra horse movement on the map, so I went for better range instead to prevent the snipers from getting countered. I'm not 100 % sure though if that was the reason since it's been a while when I played that map.
@LadyIno Wait, but doesn't Bow Knight actually have a longer range than Sniper?
@@TheCoolerDrilis iirc they can walk farther, but they can only shoot 2 spaces far, snipers 3, and the map only allowed cautious progress because maddening was very lethal. Correct me please if I'm wrong, I haven't played the game for almost a year.
@@LadyIno I think Bow Knights have a greater bonus to bow range than Snipers.
The first time I heard that I was amazed by the fact that it was from a game even though I always knew that games bring masterpieces sounds
An amazing song from an amazing game. Probably in my Top 10 for Video Games music.
15:18 This is called Chaos language.
3:15 "I don't know what to feel"
Do you feel capable of deicide?
love love love fe3h, GSS is such an incredible track
I enjoy music the most when I fail at predicting how it's gonna follow. I get such a sense of satisfaction out of it.
Don't forget Moment of Truth between those two.
@@alejandrotti10 Yes, it's true!
The genre is a Final boss worthy ost
I memorized this theme already xd
Your reaction to this was really nice, I like how much you like it :D I'm even quite surprised how you say that this song is going to be 50/50 because until now I've always only heard "it's amazing, how can someone not like it," etc.!
While I do appreciate this track musically for what it is, I can't bring myself to like it at all. Maybe it was too chaotic for me without a proper guiding line. Maybe your "complicated" is what I'm also feeling - but yes, musically, it's *really* amazing!
But then again, I mostly rate music by how much they make me want to write a story and this just gives me ... nothing. Maybe because it is so strong that I can't form thoughts on it x'D
I do wonder how I'll feel about this track if I ever get to this fight in the game but for now it's more like "skip" sadly 😅
While this song is very popular, I would have assumed it was a 50/50 if I didn't have context. Hard to folloe music doesn't usually make popular songs lol
I much preferred between heaven and earth
It should be noted that the video Jesse watched actually combined "Rain"(map) and "Thunder" (battle) versions of the track into one. That's why it's so long and all over the place. Personally, I don't hate it, but it's definitely not something that should be reviewed, since it's a fan-made mix.
@@joonas4561 same. This dual mix, although is good, isn't my cup of tea.
Prefer the actual tracks by themselves because they feel consistent.
Final boss tracks are always wonderful in the series
Would definitely reccommend giving "Twilight of the Gods"a listen, it was another final boss track in the series that is also much loved
One of the best FE ost with twilight of the gods
Enjoyed your reaction!
I’d recommend listening to “Lost in Paradise” by ALI - not a VGM, so not a channel recommendation, but a personal listen recommendation.
As another possible foray into FE music, one I feel I can very highly recommend is, "Lord of a Dead Empire," from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It's a very intense, but also incredibly somber track.
FE has so much amazing music. Notable Boss themes would be (Id) Purpose, End of All, & The Apex of the World (Rain).
And a lot of map themes are reall bangers too, inlcuding but not limited to: Fodlan Winds (Rain) , Between Heaven & Earth (Rain), The Shacled Wolves (Rain), Alight (Storm), Justice RIP (Storm), Dusk Falls (Fire), What Lies at the End, With Mila's Divine Protection, March of Delievernce, Eternal Bond, Duty (Ablaze), and especially "Dont Speak Her Name"
Pls if youre gonna react to a non-Boss theme from FE, then please react to "Dont Speak Her Name"
This soundtrack its one of my favorites i hope you react to another ost soon and i always liked you reaction to the songs
I love FE3H and its music, so I'm glad you are reacting to it! If you could, I would love to see you react to The Apex of the World from this game!
It's coming soon!
@@JessesAuditorium yay!
The keyboards are the unsung heroes of this track
Uncle Jesse, it is not just a boss song, it is song of THE LAST Boss
