It has been my dream for 30yrs to own a lowrider. That '58 fully engraved stainless steel Chevy is the sickest car I've ever seen 🤩 I couldn't imagine how much time and money it took to build that amazing work of art! I'm happy to see America's hottest car culture, that is now a worldwide thing, getting the national recognition it deserves
I grew up in East L.A. in the 60's and 70's. I now live in Arizona where lowriders are popular but nothing like So. Cal. Lowriding is not my thing but I love and appreciate the works of art that some of these cars are.
MY LORD GOD PUT ALOT OF JOY IN OUR HEARTS AND IT SPILLS OUT IN OUR CARS, OUR DRESS, OUR FOOD AND HOW WE TREAT PEOPLE IN GENERAL, WE ARE ONE OF THE BIGGEST PLUSES TO AMERICA, GOD IS GOOD, REAL GOOD AMEN.
They are called Docents. Most museums use them to accomodate tours during busy exhibitions. Yes, they recite facts and figures they have learned voluntarily. Some are more relatable in different situations, but they work cheap (free). I too am surprised there was no one with a greater sense of the culture available for the interview. You got to love the Petersen either way.
@ come on now just because they posted pictures in front of 54 bel airs with the long zuit suits don’t mean they were the first other people been lowering cars and they were not the first to put hydraulics either they didn’t start that until mid 60s and it was first done in 1956 I don’t think you should start if you don’t have the facts or know your history
No one knows who really started lowriding & where it originated at! Some will say it started somewhere in the Southwest like New Mexico but who really knows? When I was 10yrs old back in 1977, Low Rider Magazine was just starting out & I remember just seeing nothing but Raza from all over Northern & Southern Califas, New Mexico, Arizona & Tejas having & driving lowriders but later on as the magazine started growing & becoming popular in their 2nd year, that’s when we were beginning to see blacks & whites having & cruising lowriders & this was when LRM started to use color photos, this was like 1978 but again no one really knows who started it first, I just know this debate can last for years & maybe decades but all I know is it ain’t worth losing sleep over it or having heated debates….
Lowriders are made from recyclers junkyards thats the history the colors were made to be unique to avoid theft ,mistaken idenity plus prices of the materials are cheaper better than original manufacturing , also to cover mistakes the arts also would on then to not make them visible cheap n unique to cut down time , also speed by small rims tires ,then came the hydros to low raise up also to avoid thefts ,,, the rest is history & enhancements to the cars culture, systems competition , but thats the original story how it began , tribal people indigenous began this culture their the originals not mexicans mejico mejicans ,, , spanish ,french, follow the rest is history
The hydrologics came from ww2 landing gear and veterans using there 🧠 this video really dilutes low riders to an anti establishment thing which is really what they aren’t

Beautiful piece! Thank you for bringing light to this subject thats dear to me, and Tina is awesome!! (Great name for a car!)
Great Article, It took me back to El Cajon Blvd and Van Nuys Blvd in the early and mid 70's.
The Petersen is a unique American treasure.
Finally Covering Something Worth Watching
Get someone to represent this museum that has a actual history in it..not some who just studied it
I get where you’re coming from. You can tell she’s reciting the same thing over and over, there’s no passion

Love the black sheep sweater, Lowriders considered the black sheep of the car community
It’s not just Chicano culture nor are they the only originators but love for lowriding always
They are the originators. don't start.

@@diylifehacksbyty309 You're the only person on this planet who disagrees then🤣😂
@@diylifehacksbyty309they did not invent hydraulics, but they sure as hell invented lowriders and lowriding

Too bad California is trying to ban classic cars because of the pollution
She let her drive it bc she would have never got that chance again 🫡🙌
