Joe I think you doubt your self because you have no ego. Your talents far outweigh your confidence & your ego is non existance. You are uber talented - the art I just love & you have performed on a Westend stage! Do the book & illustrate it yourself Joe how fab would that be.
The idea of doing a children’s book I’m sure is very daunting. I think you should start out by making a silly book for Ottie, something low key for family, fun to do and no pressure! It would make the perfect Christmas gift and give you a chance to get your feet wet!
I didn't know who you were when you joined Strictly. Dianne, however, had grabbed my attention by simply being so bloody nice. Watching you both progress, week by week, became my obsession. You didn't win on the night, but you both won the hearts of many. There is something about Dianne that attracts people to her. She is not ego driven, or a diva. I don't think she even knows how much she is loved by her fellow professionals and her every new recruits.
Thank you, Joe. These Vlogs really give me something to look forward to. Your passion for your craft and talent seems effortless to me. Your artwork blows my mind and your energy and commitment to what you do always gives me an extra drive in my own life. Please never underestimate yourself. You make a huge difference. Believe me.
You are now entering a hard time as Dianne starts strictly. As long as you grab every minute that you two have ,to spend time together. Loving your vlogs. Art amazing 🤗
Retired librarian here - every child loved Fungus. I used to order all the books for the libraries in Leicester and couldn’t satisfy the demand. Thank you for reminding me about the genius that is Raymond Briggs. Now rushing off to to order all his works for my three granddaughters. There was a biographical doc several years ago ( think on BBC about him which was very good. The masterpiece is of course ‘Ethel and Ernest’.
Love your vlog Joe I think you are a man of many talents and you can put your mind to anything. When you and Dianne have children you are going to be great parents you are both so laid back `xxx
Hey Joe! Thank-you SO much for taking us along to the Raymond Briggs exhibition! You made my day! I am an elementary teacher and I love Raymond Briggs! I always had his books in my classroom and the children loved them! Also, when you mentioned being hesitant to begin a project because it may not be perfect or it may fail, it made me think of all of the very bright children I have taught over the years and how much they struggled to begin/complete a task for the same reasons that you described! You’re a creative person and creative people create. I’m looking forward to having your books in my classroom! Take care!
I've worked from home since 2013. I'm self-employed. I walk to work every morning! I walk around the block for 30 minutes .It works at getting into that work mindset and is the key. I also make sure to attend an inperson networking event once a week. Just to talk to others in the same situation... I live alone (children grown-up) We all need routine, fresh air and above all human contact. x
Totally get you Joe about feeling like you ‘should be’ doing something productive when you’re just at home! I think giving yourself grace and letting yourself be present and rest is a sign of growth and is productive! You’re brilliant Joe!!
Joe, my bf and I always talk about how you were the best contestant on House of Games! You were a legend and so generous with your fellow contestants ! We want to see you come back for a champions week! 🙏
Oh god Joe, I recently lost my dad, the last week was truly heartbreaking. We would all say I love you to him all the time and all he could manage to say or mouth back was love you more. That artwork Joe 😢 is filling up my heart but breaking it also. I love it.
Joe, it seems to me that as a RUclipsr you have made your life your work and your art simultaneously. Some of it you share, some of it is just for you but all of it has value because it’s the story of a person exploring and growing and learning. I like to read the comments on your blogs because it’s so obvious how much joy and comfort and inspiration you bring to people by sharing who you are. Just live your story, you are doing it brilliantly. Love to you and Di and God bless xx
Totally agree about the day off school feeling. I hate daytime TV as it makes me feel depressed and life is passing me by. It’s definitely mood changing to get up get dressed properly and go somewhere. If I genuinely don’t have to go to work I’ll work in a coffee shop just to see life and hear people. Love you both
Joe!!! I love delving into your mind and I feel so privileged you share it with us all 🙌🏻 Don’t ever doubt your abilities, your a creative genius in so many different ways and such an incredible artist! Can’t wait to see more 🎨 I would love to be in your world 🌍 oh and remember….. it’s all in the hips 🏃♂️😜🫶🏻 Love you dude xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Joe the Olympics are always so inspiring to me in many ways. But mostly in terms of how all these people are there to try to be the best they can be in what they love to do, with running the risk of not being the best and then for the whole world to see. Their inner need to just be the best they can be is bigger than their fear of not being the best. And for that reason I think all of the competitors are absolutely inspiring. Do your projects Joe, try your best and sometimes you can look in the mirror and be proud that that was your best, but most of the times it will inspire you to be even better tomorrow.
Wow, this vlog is just awesome! I love how you blend your art and stories together. The exhibition sounds like it was inspiring! 🎨✨ Also, the way you surprise Dianne with your art is just the cutest thing ever! Keep it up, Joe! ❤️😊
You would absolutely be brilliant creating a children’s book. Please have faith and like you said, enjoy the process whatever the outcome. Your artwork is amazing. Have faith in yourself. I agree with you about Richard Osman’s voice and my favourite round is the same as yours too 😅
Never underestimate the talent that you have which is incredible. Your creativity and passion you have for all that you do is so inspiring and I hope that one day you can achieve those dreams - we are behind you 100%. "Dreams can be scary, but it's going to be fine. It's okay to be scared, we just have do it anyway" Love the art work so much and how you did it all so well freehand - took me a long minute to realise that it's a monopoly card 😂
I agree totally on having a home office away from the house. Mine is at the bottom of the garden and I believe it makes all the difference ‘going to the office’.
Absolutely loved those books too! And listening to a book and cassette and that magical ding noise to turn the page! Memories 😊 love that you and Zoe are my age and so relatable !
Joe your Art creation / creative is just beyond wonderful 😍 oh yes an illustratie children book from you what an awesome idea hope you let that Dream come true 🤞🙏 would be absolutely amazing 😻 . Don’t ever underestimate your Talent 😜🫶. Take care .
Your walk was pretty fast! You should do a power walk session instead of a run some time and tell us how it compares. It seems to be good exercise. Amazing how you can duplicate art so well! The red on the wall definitely breaks up all the white and neutrals in your house and looks good.
The painting is absolutely incredible, your crazy amazing at art , my favourite one that you have done is the looney tunes one that one is beautiful, please continue to keep showing your art in the vlogs the painting are tooo goood ❤😊
Joe , I'm in love with the painting ,I would buy it if you for my new house when I decide which one I want , I have chosen 4 so big decision to make ...
The irony of you saying that working from home can often mean you get easily distracted, while I'm working from home and watching your vlog, is not lost on me, Joe! It's been lovely to watch you getting back into your art. I think you are very modest about your work, but judging by the comments, many of us admire it. I can't wait to see what you do next.😀
You are talented Joe, you should definitley do the book. I could also see you doing "Board game Illustrations" there are artists that draw for the cards and boards in board games ie. Andrew Bosley- Board game Everdell being the one that comes to mind, Vincent Dutrait has done many many boardgame arts, Karolina Kijak Board game Meadow!
I’m convinced we have the same mind😂the way you described feeling like your wasting the day as having a day off school is EXACTLY how i feel. Also the things you want to do pushed to the back of your mind because your scared of messing up is so me as well so you aren’t alone 😂 But trust me joe you are so unbelievably talented in SO many ways i wish i was as good as you at that many things. Also the speed walking is on point, seems like I’m not the only one completely obsessing over the Olympics too
Hi Joe thanks for sharing with us I love your artwork could you do a tour of all your pieces as I have caught glimpses of some in your home but would love you to show them off in a vid with what inspired you to make the piece etc. Love your content and Dianne’s . Please try Yorkshire Tea though it’s the best… ❤
My absolute pet hate is using paper towel to clean kitchen tops. Ok use them for absorbing spills. Use washable dishcloth for washing up & wiping down surfaces! It will save you a fortune!
thanks joe, great vlog as always. last year we went to the paddington bear exhibition, love any exhibition's like that, they bring nostalgia. and your art work is amazing
I’m really enjoying watching this stage of your life. Your love of art, which is so nice to see you doing, because you’re talented. I love author and artist exhibitions…the Raymond Briggs one looked awesome. My favourite was a Tim Burton exhibition I saw here in Toronto. You mentioning Lord of the Rings, has got me wanting to watch it now. Tonight’s film is Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. And, the rest of the franchise to follow over the next few days! The Hobbit series after that. Haha, tough life, eh?!
I'm always feeling guilty for doing nothing, but unfortunately I have chronic fatigue, most days is a win if I have managed to do something. But Joe, you are honestly so talented. Bless you, you're so humble, but you definitely should do these dreams.. Carry on working on whatever is holding you back. It's nice to have a continued passion ❤
As a writer and artist myself, I get the whole daunting-ness of a project you want to do but haven't yet started!! If you ever need it, I'd be more than happy helping you out with anything, sounding ideas etc. 😄
Hey currently watching the part where you are talking about working from home. Where I live there is a beautiful lake with a building that you can go and do some work. Not sure if you have anything near you but it'd definitely recommend it.
Joe I totally agree with the whole, having to leave the house to feel accomplished. I am studying right now but I can't even focus on my studies if I'm in my own home, I have to take myself to a cafe or something. I need to go out everyday or else i feel unaccomplished.
Hey Joe. Instead of doing the bar and office up, make the bar your office now if you need the creative space and place to “go to work”. Use the house as you need it, not as you want it (I learnt this during the pandemic). And for your creative barrier and in the words of Nike, Just do it! If you’re lucky enough to have the freedom to do it career wise then make the most of it pal 👍🏼

Sending you sunshine, positivity, and good vibes!
I entered the same Blue Peter/Doctor Who competition. I thought my monster was cool, but I didn't win. I love the art piece you created, it's a cute concept!!
Believe in yourself and your talents, Joe. One day, you'll be reading your children's book to your own children and sitting with them watching the TV series of the book where you've voiced the main character. It will happen and surprising off-shoots will come from the creative process of getting there. X
Joe. I think you might benefit from having a coach. You can find writing coaches/business coaches etc and having a regular meeting to support you to get those ideas and dreams out of your boncicle and into reality will move you step by step towards them. Also on a more mundane note. Write a to do list. Checking off your tasks etc will give you a psychological boost. Stick all of it on, even the laundry!
I've always wanted to write a children's book and have done a few ideas its the cost of getting it published is hard. I think you will be successful very talented and imaginative, love art work ❤
Why not try and write/illustrate the WORST possible children's book you can? Bad ideas only! Worst sketches only! Would be a hoot, and a way to get past the perfectionism/mental barriers. Your next draft can only get better - or, you might find yourself a new niche ;) Excited to see what you work on next :)
I might have mentioned this before Joe but if you don't already watch him I think you'd really enjoy Jazza here on youtube! He's very Art Attack and tries all sorts of things, is really funny and also is super into character design and fantasy nerdy stuff and world building and has a separate channel where he plays Table Top games. He often does things like painting little figures and building models and things too! Reckon he's right up your street! Plus he's Australian 😁
I defo think you should do a run of kids books, you could illustrate them yourself AND do an audio read along using your voices! A project like this would show case all your talents :)
You know how you were saying you wanted someone to keep you creatively responsible, me too! and you’re scared to persue your childrens book, me too! I’m exactly the same with my creative project. It’s been my want for 13 years but I cannot get the ball rolling because I’m scared of it not being what I expect it to be. I need someone to hold my hand through it!!
Sounds like there's a lot of anxiety stored up that brain there - finding peace on your own at home, and peace doing very little is a wonderful thing! Great that you're driven as you are though, make the most of it while it's there
At the end of the vlog now and I had an idea. If you have spare time maybe do a live, either on here or Instagram for people to ask you questions about the plan you have. Like 30mins - hour of everyone bouncing ideas off each other. Almost like a team bonding day but online lol. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s always daunting to follow a creative passion and take a risk, but you only regret what you haven’t tried. with creative projects, we improve the more we practice. I think the idea of perfection/failure can be daunting but see it all as a learning process. Good luck 🤞
Joe! I've been catching up on the last few days of vlogs - do you live near a Vue cinema? They're showing LOTR extended editions again September!! 😂 take Dianne! I've seen them quite literally hundreds of times at this point but I'm definitely thinking about it. Especially because i was too young to see FOTR and TTT in the cinema when they came out (but i saw ROTK 5 times).
Credit Dianne because how she handled strictly allegations is really good when people were asking questions about it she just really answered it in a good way
I fully understand your working from home struggles. Having worked on a busy ICU unit , and then with Covid a lot of other staff working from home there was both sides of the coin, the fact those that had to go in to work envious of those that could work from home and then those that couldn't go in working from home feeling they were missing out. I organised a leaving work at work workshop and hearing others perspectives there was a lot of struggles with that division between relaxing at home and working. The idea of a separate working area is important to ensure a clear divide between the 2.
Joe I think you doubt your self because you have no ego. Your talents far outweigh your confidence & your ego is non existance. You are uber talented - the art I just love & you have performed on a Westend stage! Do the book & illustrate it yourself Joe how fab would that be.
💯 agree 👏👏
I agree 💯💯💯💯💯
Exactly what I was thinking, he surprisingly has no confidence, yet is multi talented.
Joe start that book.
Ditto

We need another Joe and Tom adventure! Get to Manchester!
Really love the art, Joe ❤ Secretly hoping you will be on the House of Games again.
My absolute pet hate is using paper towel to clean kitchen tops. Ok use them for absorbing spills. Use washable dishcloth for washing up & wiping down surfaces! It will save you a fortune!
beetroot and chocolate is a well know mix
it sounds odd but I guess like carrot cake it keeps the cake moist
I love that he wears an All Black top :) makes me smile!
You know it's true love when your partner can smell your scent 😂❤
"Love you more" my heart 🥺🥰
thanks joe, great vlog as always. last year we went to the paddington bear exhibition, love any exhibition's like that, they bring nostalgia. and your art work is amazing
I’m really enjoying watching this stage of your life. Your love of art, which is so nice to see you doing, because you’re talented.

Joseph is super talented x such a lovely guy.
Making mistakes is a really good thing. It leads you towards success🌱 It is TOTALLY okay to not be perfect!
You’re looking great Jo! Also great watch, as always xx
Love the art work looks perfect there❤
You are so talented Joe xx
Love seeing you be creative and making art!!!

Joe has to be one of the most talented RUclipsrs 💖💙
LOVE the artwork! Definitely put it by that mirror x
Always follow your dreams x
Loving the All Blacks kit
I was just about to comment about that!! Loving the All Blacks kit!
Love your painting so different so talented
Joe, I am a Virgo as well (lol I think you're a Virgo...maybe I'm wrong and didn't get that right haha,) but I feel the exact same way about the feeling of guilt/unproductiveness (if that's a word) when I am indoors working and not leaving the house like others now and then. You're tough for trying to change your mindset, because sometimes I just reconfirm to myself that I didn't accomplish much because I didn't leave the house, when in reality I did the laundry, exercised, cleaned, worked, cooked/baked, etc. etc. I dunno. Being human is weird sometimes. Just know I felt really comforted by your explanation of how you feel in that scenario, and I think you're a normal, good human. Sending you sunshine, positivity, and good vibes!
I entered the same Blue Peter/Doctor Who competition. I thought my monster was cool, but I didn't win.
I love the art piece you created, it's a cute concept!!
Love the artwork, why don't you sleep in a different room when Dianne has to be up early, trust me you will have to when you are a bit older.
If my husband woke me up with an alarm I would sulk, I'm not a morning person.
lovey you and dianne xx
Believe in yourself and your talents, Joe. One day, you'll be reading your children's book to your own children and sitting with them watching the TV series of the book where you've voiced the main character.
Very cool piece of art. 😊
Watching you speed walk will never not be funny to me 😂
LOVE the UNO card art!!! would love a print of that for sure :)
I LOVED Fungus the Bogeyman when I was younger and so did my sister.. no one else seems to remember it!
I've always wanted to write a children's book and have done a few ideas its the cost of getting it published is hard. I think you will be successful very talented and imaginative, love art work ❤

Love that you’re casually doing vlogust without announcing it 😂
As soon as you said being at home off school watching TV the doctors theme tune came into my head 😂
Love the new artwork, very 😎👏👏
Loved your vlog today
Omg now got to the part on perfectionism and not wanting to start big projects, also same 😂

It’s been my want for 13 years but I cannot get the ball rolling because I’m scared of it not being what I expect it to be. I need someone to hold my hand through it!!
Nah, I agree with you. Richard Osman's voice is so therapeutic, and House of Games is such a cosy show ❤
Sounds like there's a lot of anxiety stored up that brain there - finding peace on your own at home, and peace doing very little is a wonderful thing! Great that you're driven as you are though, make the most of it while it's there
all blacks tshirt!! representing aotearoa over in the uk for us joe! love it lol
Love the art!
Joe keep up the great work
At the end of the vlog now and I had an idea.
Good luck 🤞
Put a tray ujder the bowl in the oven 🙄 😃❤️
You’re such a lovely couple. ❤
Love your artwork and go for it with the book don’t doubt your self you can do it 🫶
Fabulous piece of art Joe really love it Dianne will love it ❤
Credit Dianne because how she handled strictly allegations is really good when people were asking questions about it she just really answered it in a good way
It’s an uno card! Awsome
Also a big fan of you, Joe
I fully understand your working from home struggles. Having worked on a busy ICU unit , and then with Covid a lot of other staff working from home there was both sides of the coin, the fact those that had to go in to work envious of those that could work from home and then those that couldn't go in working from home feeling they were missing out. I organised a leaving work at work workshop and hearing others perspectives there was a lot of struggles with that division between relaxing at home and working. The idea of a separate working area is important to ensure a clear divide between the 2.
I can’t and never have been able to watch daytime TV, something about it just irks me. 😂
Same
Will you be doing a House of Games champions week?
