nice Review. If you dont drive 20000 km per year.... i would choose the Petrol like you. the Car is nice because of it`s space and Quality.. greetings from Germany.
Have you ever lived in Scotland? I don't know anywhere else where people say ''a wee bit'', hehe. I love your videos. I check them every Friday. Good work.
haha, great reply. Thanks :). I am Brazilian, with Danish and English family and my great grand father was Scottish. I am living in Glasgow right now so I know how hard it can be to understand the accent of some Scotts :D
I can not call him ugly. there are cars of other brands that do not make it on this model. And let's face it, if you have the choice between a VW and an other brand. Forget the diesel shit. VW is stil market leader. And the Golf is the best sold model...
Hello Marek, I just discover you chanel, by looking some review on this car. I'm planning to buy on old one, TSI 125 but i have some doubts. We live in Paris with our 2 daughters, the car will mainly be used for Paris and sometimes to vist some friends and family in Bruxelles and Munich ( 900 km)...do you think that we should go with disel ? Is the petrulum engine can handle 900 km ? Thanks
The question is, whether Paris can handle the diesel :) How often do you take those trips? Also, you're looking at a 10-year old car, so a lot will depend on the previous owner(s), service history, etc. If you find a mint petrol vs. badly kept diesel, then petrol is your answer regardless of fuel economy on longer trips.
@@MarekDrivesENG Thans for your reply Mark ! :) Paris is lately angry with disel, France and hole Europe ! From my side is not really about econony in fuel is more on realibility of the engine. This car has 140000 km, some friends how know cars much better then me :), saying i can do still 60000km beacuse is petrulm, but the same car in diesel can do until 300 000 km, if is true then disel engine is better then petrulm. But, you are right Paris is keep closing areas for diesel, so is better to go with petrlum and trying to go in Munich and Bruxelles every 6 months ! By the why greats reviews you have in this chanel and always very clear and with this humor 😀
TBH, unless you live in a neighbourhood, where a VW badge is frowned upon, I can't find a logical reason to buy a low-to-mid spec BMW 2AT. Sure, you can get the PHEV, which VW doesn't have in that segment, but that's about it.
Yes, I definitely see your point. I feel just that the interior design of VW scream East Germany to me, while BMW appears a bit more comfy. Since I will be buying second hand, the price tag is essentially the same. May I ask you in terms of noise - a parameter often neglected in car reviews - how these two models fare?
The short answer is: I have no reliable data or recollection to give you a straight answer. The long answer is: As you can see, I've driven both cars quite a while ago. My reviews have developed somewhat since then. At the time I may not have paid attention to noise in general. Even today, I don't measure the noise. I just give my subjective impression of noise level inside. That said, dB readout doesn't tell the whole story, because the same dB level can be perceived differently depending on the surrounding. Furthermore, noise levels will differ depending on road surface, weather, tires, etc.
They are all common Europaen cars, nice when it is new, headache when it starts aging and out of warranty. Get Toyota for the best reliability, Mazda or Honda for better reliability and as fun as VW or Ford. But overall VW is always better than anything from BMW at the same price.

I love this Golf Sportsvan. It is beautiful, practical and is ideal for family model.
+Luan Freire it's under the jacket. The seatbelt is supposed be close to the body.
I like the new location for filming, the white frost and snow makes a great background.
And of course good review, as always.
Cornflakes Yognaut It's not frost. It's fog ;)
The old location is out for now. The parking company leased the whole top floor to a new client.
The most entertaining review! I love your personality
Good car even after these years, they also came to a good price, and its in my opinion the most beautiful mini-mpv thing you could buy back in 2014-15.
Indeed. It's a shame they stopped making it.
Great pronunciation and the video is really good.

oblemc I think my maths teacher was Scottish. For a couple of weeks nobody understood a word he said, which was reflected in our grades ;)

Good stuff Marek. Subscribed!
Good review. Cheers
Come on. It is not ugly.
+Michael Janik From the side and from the back it's OK. But from the front it's like a Golf with Down's Syndrome.
Marek Drives looks like a supermodel compared to BMW grand tourer though...
i think ugly and beautiful are words that should not be used in a video review...just show us the car and let us judge. beauty is subjective

Good luck with finding the right car. I know it's going to be difficult, but look for something with as much service history, as possible.

Thanks for the always thoughtful reviews, Marek. A question: how would you compare this Golf Sportsvan with BMW Active Tourer?

What's the strongest engine for this carr?
This car is no longer available. I think a 1.5 TSI 150 hp and a similarly powered 2.0 TDI was all it got.
@@MarekDrives Fair, thanks.
I've got a 2 litre diesel gt dsg. I had it 3 years and it's on 170k
Man, Use the seat Belt !:O
It's ugly but you'll love it anyway. I love this guy. Lol.
It isnt ugly. I my oppinion, this is one of the most successful designs on the market.
was it cold on the shoot?? :-)
Cold enough.
the car is not only ugly it is like mostly VW very boring.
