    Anyone who dismisses the a9III probably didn't use it to its full potential. I've been shooting with it for around 3 months now, and the biggest advantage of it is to shoot RAW files with pre-capture. Instead of spraying and praying just in case something interesting happens, I now shoot at least less than half the photos compared to my a1 and still have more keepers than my a1. Don't get me wrong, since I shoot mainly dance performances, the AF capability of any modern stacked sensor camera other than the XH2s would be sufficient, however, the a9III is the only camera that allows me to shoot with proper pre-capture. The Z8 and Z9 only shoot JPGs, the R6II isn't a stacked sensor and has a visible rolling shutter if the dancer has fast and exaggerated dance moves, and the OM-1's autofocus would slow down to a crawl if you enable pro-capture. The Z8 also has an asymmetrical card slot, so you will be paying for the CFE-B card price while limited to UHS-II speed if you shoot redundant. I wish the Z8 could feature a "clear buffer first, backup when idle" setting in the future.
    The Z8 is an all-purpose camera and is probably the better choice for most enthusiasts, just like the D850 back in the day. But unlike the Z8 which is basically the mini-Z9, the a9III is a unique and irreplaceable camera, it offers new possibilities that other cameras can't offer, and I have a 3-month worth of photos to prove it.

    • @JeremiahBostwick
      @JeremiahBostwick 5 месяцев назад

      @@rickmower1136If you need want an A9 can do, then only an A9 can do it. It's just that most don't.
      If you shot for the Olympics and needed that burst rate in 14-bit continuous RAW or you needed unparalleled HSS, then nothing touches the A9III.
      I don't think most video makers will care about it being GS to actually purchase this over a much more practical camera like the FX3 or A7SIII (especially if they already own one or both), but certainly the combination of features of the A9III will take a long time for another competitor to match the feature set of. And this is to say nothing of best in class AF or the highly developed lens system that Nikon doesn't currently have for Z mount.
      Certainly most "normal" users would also likely rather have the A7RV which is similar in cost to the Z8 vs the A9III, again, unless they fit into those niches that need that kind of speed and performance.

    I think most casual photographers don't get the reason for the A9. The A9 is meant to be super niche, it also serves as a technological demonstration of Sony's capabilities, and it will lead the way for the future of Sony's more affordable cameras. So it really doesn't need to compare with anything and Sony doesn't need to be a volume seller.

    All Sony E-mount lenses can be adapted to Nikon Z8.
    Nikon tele lenses are black.
    Z8 shoots 8K, raw video and prores raw without an external recorder.
    Bang for buck as compared to Sony A1 or A9III.
    Z8 uses CFExpress type B cards which are generally faster and cheaper especially when you factor in 1 or 2TB cards.

    Also not only can you adapt all Nikon lenses. You can adapt all Sony lenses.
    On Z8 rolling shutter is visible to that degree at 60 and 120fps stills. But you don’t see it at 20 or 30fps. I think because the higher frame rates are just video grabs. The A9iii having global shutter won’t have rolling shutter at 60 and 120fps like you demonstrated.

    Errr... regarding reason 2, Nikon has more, and more interesting, tele options available. The 100-400, 180-600, 400/2.8 and 600/4 all have Sony equivalents. But the 400/4.5, 600/6.3 and 800/6.3 do not. Plus, the 400/2.8 and 600/4 have built-in TCs. And then there is the new 28-400 as well.
    If you add in third party options, things do change of course (as long as you don't count adapted lenses anyway). But if you stay with name-brand lenses, Nikon is the winner.

    • @praetorian65

In my opinion, having a good first-party 35mm f/1.4 (and also an incredible third-party Sigma 35mm f/1.2) is more important than having a 600mm f/6.3 option when there's a 180-600mm zoom and a 400mm f/4.5 when there's a 100-400mm zoom.

    And talking about how many more lenses one manufacture has over another is kind of like two countries arguing over who has the most nuclear missiles: it becomes irrelevant at a point.
    The Nikon will do what ever you need, the Sony will too.. And so will a Canon, Fuji, Olympus....you get the point.

    Sony A9iii with two set of Dual 160gb CF express type card will cost-$6000+(per card) $268x4
    Total cost=$7072
    Similar setup with Nikon z8 with 128gb Type B card-$3700+$200(Cfe+Sd)=$3900.

      @@shang-hsienyang1284 Instead of accepting the fact that Sony uses non standard card system which costs more than twice with half the storage and half the speed and even if cost isnt problem for you, storage size will be. There is no type A card bigger than 512 gb.
      Arguing against fact is called stupidity.
      Fact is type A card fastest read/write speed is ~800Mbps for type B it is ~1800Mbps.
      Using Sony pro body will be a few thousand USD expensive than other system only because of storage system. For the same amount you can buy a really high quality glass.
      I’m not Sony hater, I just hate when any company makes stupid decision like that. Having Same sony body with type B cards will make them much more practical.

    • @shang-hsienyang1284
      @shang-hsienyang1284 5 месяцев назад

      @@avinashrai11141 That's because you only compare Sony CFE-A cards vs. other brands. Angelbird for example makes 1TB CFE-A cards for US$500. Pergear makes 520GB cards for US$360.
      Only the Z9 would enjoy 1800MB/s. Cameras like the Z8, GFX100II, and R3 would be limited by the slower card, therefore only 300MB/s. If camera companies could figure out how to make the cameras clear buffer first, backup to slower card later, then that's another story, and your arguments would have been valid.
      Having two symmetrical card slots is way better than having the CFE-B + UHS-II abomination.

Videos this day uses to much data then to much storage space to expensive overall and yeah more expensive memory card collection then over heating problems if shooting too much! And how about Sony updating firmware? Oh, have to sign up monthly for update and maybe will be released one, one day! 😁
