      Okay Boomer. It doesn't sense since everyone is complaining about the next 007 being female. You don't like women starring an action movie of today because it deals with reality you don't like. But this movie depicted 9/11 as an inside job, but no-one complained about that toxic topic.

    • @MrPingn
      @MrPingn 5 лет назад +6

      It didn't do well in the box office but there are a lot of factors why a movie does and doesn't do well. Also keep in mind a lot of the drama these days is due to churnalists stirring it up for clicks and studios copping out to cover for their mistakes. It's absolutely over done. I've been called a sexist for suggesting Jaina Solo is a better character than Rey. How does that work?
      This movie is in my library. Along with many others starring some awesome female characters.

    • @JR-sx3gl
      @JR-sx3gl 5 лет назад +13

      As a kid/teenager in the 90's I loved this film. It made sense, wasn't forced like today's films. She had skills because of her super spy training and she did very little to none hand to hand combat, mostly guns and blowing things up.
      As for the new Bond being a woman: what a stupid idea. Doesn't anyone remember Nikita? That was a female super secret agent everyone loved to watch. There was a film and a few series based on the character. I remember everyone gathered in front of the TV and watched it.
      And now they just swap male for female on anything they can get hold of and hope that will please the SJW gods.

The creep from Hell character played by Craig Bierko (Tim), just made you very glad that he wasn’t coming after you (The Thirteenth Floor also is a favorite Film)!! I went for a job interview. After the interview, the manager asked what I was going to do for the rest of the day? (She still had other candidates to interview)
    I told her I might go to the movies.
    Immediately, she said: "Go see The Long Kiss Goodnight"
    I replied: "I absolutely hate chick flicks, so I won't see a movie about a long kiss."
    She laughed heartily and then stared me down and said: "Just go see the movie. You will not be sorry."
    I went to see it and I was blown away. I bought the DVD as soon as I found it and I have seen it a million times!

    The scene of the truck running away down the hill and going through the brick wall was filmed at Bluffer's Park Marina in Scarborough Ontario. The hill was extremely steep and treacherous at the best of times and there wasn't a brick wall at the bottom, that had to be built.
    I kept my boat there at the time and they basically told everyone to stay away for the night of filming because that was the only way in or out....When they were done filming the next day they cleaned up so well the only evidence was scrapes on the pavement in the parking lot where the truck landed after going through the (non-existent) wall.....

    “The name’s Charlie, by the way. You’re gonna love me.”
    The Long Kiss Goodnight was probably the scariest action movie I’ve ever seen before or since. Charlie Baltimore, like Jason Bourne, was a real badass with many lethal skill sets. It was also interesting that it wasn’t about the terrorist plot but it centered on Samantha Caine, as she described, born on a beach in New Jersey 8 years ago, fully grown. During all this time, she tries to find out who she really is. Retrograde focal amnesia. There was no red pill/ blue pill. Just a mystery that led to an unexpected and dangerous journey. Along in this journey is the private investigator Mitch Hennessy.Though Mitch was only interested in collecting some cash, he begins to care about Samantha even if the truth will kill them both.
    I loved the script by Shane Black. He sets the stage well and we, the audience begin to fall in love with Samantha. But when we are introduced to Charlie Baltimore, we become nervous. A classic case of Jeckyll and Hyde. But which persona was the real person?
    Enter Mr. Waldman. The man who knew her better than Charlie knew herself. And he ought to know her. He trained her.
    I liked Craig Bierko’s performance, he had that combination of well-spoken professionalism and lethal cunning.
    Christmastime being used as a setting for high octane action films, I assume, may be an expectation of something to shake up a silent night. There will be no peace on earth, nor good will to all men.
    It was refreshing to see another female action heroine. We have had Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley. Now, it is time for Charlie Baltimore join the sorority.
    I really enjoyed this movie.
    Please. No remakes.

    Craug Bierko also plays Max Baer in Cinderella Man... And he was really charismatic in that. Sadly, they made him way too evil and gruesome, but he was perfectly cast.

      Keep dreaming... it was quite political at the time. The fact that it wasn’t a blockbuster helped to cement the damaging stereotype that men wouldn’t see a woman in an action film.

    The tree house scene was filmed in the backyard of a house situated behind a restaurant I worked at. The lights were so bright it made our kitchen look like it was daytime even though it was dark outside. Renny Harlin and his entourage dined in the pub for lunch about 5 months before the filming of those scenes. He kept ordering rounds of almost the entire menu for the table to share. I had no idea who he was until several weeks later when I read a newspaper article mentioning him looking at locations for a bridge scene that was to be blown up. I recognized him right away in the picture. The film crew were regulars in the pub for about two weeks or so during the shoot. They were all a lot of fun to chat with. This movie has always been a unique favourite of mine because I remember these little moments.
