Cheryl, I didn't learn of Jesse's passing until just a few moments ago - I am stunned by this tragic news, however, I still treasure Jesse and his work, both solo and with his brother Jim. I will still think of him - and cherish his music.
Jesse and his late brother Jim created some of the finest bluegrass recordings ever. I have always loved their vocal harmonies and the instrumentation was of course superb. I wish I had 1/1000th of jesse's talent.
Not the Liberace way. Of course not. But I am a bluegrass man and a big fan of Jesse McReynolds. This is way way over the top for mandolin, fiddle and banjo and the rhythm men also . Hats off!! Thanks!!
I was playing banjo on that show- Mike Barnett fiddle, Donny Catron Guitar, Garrett McReynolds Guitar, Luke Bradshaw Bass and of course Jesse on Mandolin- fun times
RIP, Jesse.

My God, Jesse tears that mandolin up, and at that age too!
Jesse McReynolds is the 9th wonder of the world!

Somebody call the fire department....this band's ON FIRE!
Here's Jesse with his mighty fine band in Marion, VA.

I second Buck, he is a real legend and a true master of the mandolin. Hope to see him live someday!
This is how the mandolin is supposed to be picked!
Jesse tearing it up, and raising the bar for mandolinists since the 1950s ;)
My friend, Jesse didn't just raise the bar - he was, and still is, the bar;)
Just the best thats the way its done great stuff..

Nice. El Cumbanchero was written by Rafael Hernandez, from Puerto Rico. It also has good lyrics, of course in Spanish.
Fucking Haunting. Amazing!

I was playing banjo on that show- Mike Barnett fiddle, Donny Catron Guitar, Garrett McReynolds Guitar, Luke Bradshaw Bass and of course Jesse on Mandolin- fun times
Can we say "shredding"?
Who the heck is that violin player, and why do I get the impression that the banjo player is carrying a Colt 45 1911?
John Riggs He looks like Mike Barnett
Yep, good call
15 year old Barnett just casually raising the bar for any fiddle player who heard him. Check out his full album "one song romance". Do it!
