Trust that what she is saying is true. I found Stephanie on RUclips in 2022. After much research and consideration, I moved to Zaragoza, Spain in April of 2024. My quality of life has improved greatly
I retired five years ago at 54. What we are experiencing here is going on in Canada, UK, Europe and many other countries, so research thoroughly. I am not leaving the US. My sons, grandchildren, and extended family is here. If they are not nearby, I cannot be happy or at peace. If I was childless or not close to my family, maybe then I would consider it. Loving my retired life.
Congrats on your retirement. I do agree that the issues in the U.S. are prevalent in many other nations. I am not sure why some believe that life abroad is "easier and stress free." It can certainly be good, if one has the resources to sustain themselves and a good social network, but that is also true in the U.S.
Yes, that's something that I'm taking into consideration. Other places are already in a state of disorder and the US already adversely affects other areas so it would be a very difficult time to be moving...not impossible but, I think, a lot more research is required.
Last time I checked Canada, the UK, Australia and most developed countries don’t have incompetent idiots and wannabe dictators running their country. Those countries also don’t have ridiculous high crime rates, prevalent gun violence, artificial food, high rates of illiteracy, non existent work life balance, etc. To me, the USA is in its own league. Staying in the USA is like staying in sinking ship. It’s obviously in its decline.
@Summers journey, an example of how life in some countries might be easier financially has to do with the following. In many African countries outside of major cities, 2 months Social Security checks coming from the United States will cover FULL ONE YEAR RENT. You can get organic food regularly at affordable price. I think Stephanie’s message is for those interested!!
It is very hard to heal in a toxic place . People have voted against our well being. We are hated here why would we want to stay. Its not easy to make changes but its not impossible.💔
This is such an important point to make: it is hard to truly heal in a toxic place. A place which continues to inflict harm on us. Thank you for mentioning this.
Thank you for saying this. It's not easy to make changes... Especially when you don't have footing. Also some countries are not as welcoming and have the same mentality towards us too. It's not so simple like she makes it out to be and it's always easier to talk when one has arrived.
I’m not financially in a place to move, but planning to make some power moves to eventually leave in 2026/2027. I live in a blue state and blue city, so it gives me a little extra time, but since I don’t know how long that will hold, I want to be working on a plan. Thank you Stephanie for all the work you do and the inspiration to find true peace and joy 🩷
I appreciate that influencers let people know what is going on but if you can't provide a system or plan of action for anyone to use or follow it's just theory. For people with no money who want to move abroad this is the path we developed for some of my nieces fresh out of highschool. You will need money. The cheapest one of them did it on was 10k- passport, Round trip flight from Dallas to to Oslo $1800. College application fees $50, using a service to handle student Visa application/ residency Permit$600. Paying for air BNB for a month $2500 until dorm was ready and she got all her backend visa and school paperwork and admin fees $300 each year handled, buying supplies $500 and food. She still had 3000 left plus she received a $5000 international student renewable scholarship, and the Basics Norwegian grant $5181 for international students. So her expenses are her dorm $300 a month, cell $30 a month, food, and personal items. Which means out of $14181, $3600 will go to housing which leaves her $10581, for the academic year 10 months roughly just over $1000 a month, to get school books food and comprehensive national healthcare $56 a month for three months then her residency kicks in for national insurance. Used Books usually run $300per semester. Her degree is taught in English. If you can pass college coursework in the US this can be done by most people. They have family dorms for people with children and spouses but you must apply early, your healthcare will cover them as well. For people majoring in STEM, education, health care, IT, they will often fast track citizenship because workers are needed for those field.
I own land and property here and have my passport for when I want to get away. I live in Houston and love it. My family is in Louisiana, Georgia and Alabama. My plan is to buy property in South Africa. Active in the ACLU and the Urban League. Going into Tech after being in Property Management for 30 years. Grandchildren in North Dakota. I'm holding it down and not running away anytime soon. I wish everyone the best wherever you choose to be.
I feel the same way as you. My life is very good in the States; however, I will probably look into buying property in South Africa. I certainly do not plan to sell my home in the U.S. or relocate permanently. I think people should do what works for them, and for some people, relocating out of the U.S. may be a good idea (especially if they are not able to sustain a good life here).

Fortunately, I work in DEI, but I have a secure budget for 18 months to two years. I work in a POC environment, so I am just continuing my mental divestment from work that I have been doing. I am using 2025 as a way to pivot with a cushion so I can go back to freelance, which allows me to be more flexible with where I work. Planning is key, and while the next four years are important, 2025 can be a planning and “get ready” year. 2026 is more concerning to me.
My hope and dream is to leave for good at some point (beyond the next 4 years), but I’ve signed up for foreign language classes all of next year. There are also debts I want to pay down in full before taking the leap. I’m here for now, but the ability to see other parts of the world someday keeps me going. 😊

Girl! I was really planning on leaving mainly for the reason of a safety net for my son. He is a senior in high school and has already been accepted to a university here in Texas, in their Engineering branch. My husband is ready to leave too, but I said if my son chooses to go to this college, then aint no sense in me leaving him here in Texas by himself. It is just the 3 of us here and HE was my main reason for leaving this country in the first place. Im just so at a crossroads right now I dont know what to do. I am looking at universities out of the country, but I can help but feel that it may be extra challenging with language barriers, teaching styles, accreditations, and credits. I really feel we should have left when he started high school in 9th grade. That way he would have been acclimated to the ways of another country by the time he graduates. I am just at a loss 😞

Agreed! It can also take a couple years. We get to vote again in two years, so hopefully the House and Senate goes Blue.
I get it! Know you can do it!!!
Similar situation, but I'm in ruby red FL. Looking to leave with my teenager in mid 2027.
I am in the same boat

Sadly this video is for me. Thanks for this!

@@gigs2riches I was in South Africa six months ago. What city are you thinking of buying property in South Africa?

Abortion is not a great reason to leave to a 3rd world country the USA is still one of the best countries when it comes to health care
There are many many remote jobs here in the USA do your research before you pack up your life and leave for a 3rd world country keep in mind being a tourist is very different from being a resident so choose well and before you pack up and leave you cover all your bases
