There's literally no excuse. They've made so much money from Genshin and Star Rail that they could more than afford to keep the server up for any amount of players

They did well enough as is letting the original storyline complete and keeping the server a few years after that despite only having around a thousand players left by the end, while gacha games even for popular franchises like Madoka shut down the EN servers within a year. The EN market is a cutthroat business world.

I believe now mihoyo already makes a lot of money with HI3, HSR and especially Genshin... if they aren't bunch of lazy and greedy people who care nothing about the potential and the passion within GGZ, they would soon turn it into an offline game... well, if GGZ is already a finished story.
