It would've been easier if you had leveled up more back on the island by sparring with Tidus Wakka and Selphie more. Anyway as I suggested before you should go back to Traverse Town and from there go to the bottom level 2 star world next.
Nice. Try buying one or two accessories next time. Protect Chains are useful but when you get things like Brave Warrior you begin to realize there are better accessories.
