The Christmas Gift That Changed My Marriage

- I'd like to introduce you to my first love: music. It's what I'm using to fix our broken marriage.
There are some stories I film but never release because their significance is not apparent at the time. This was one of those stories. After nearly losing our marriage last year, my husband Adam and I are trying to do more, important things together. Building this guitar and amp changed our marriage and lives for the better.

MORE ABOUT ME
I'm Anne of All Trades. In NASHVILLE, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. Whether you've got the knowledge, tools, time or space to do the things you've always wanted to do, everything is "figureoutable."
I became "Anne of All Trades" out of necessity. With no background in farming or making things, I wanted to learn to raise my own food, fix things when they break and build the things I need.
8 years ago I got my first pet, planted my first seed and picked up my first tool.
My goal is to learn and share traditional techniques and skills while showing my peers how to get from where they are to where they want to go, how to do the things they are passionate about, and what can be done TODAY to engage their own community and grow deep roots.
Whether it's carving spoons, making my own hand tools, restoring my antique truck or growing heirloom tomatoes, the farm and workshop definitely keep me busy and support - whether financially through Patreon, through shopping my affiliate links, through buying merchandise, plans or project videos, or even just liking, commenting, and sharing my content with others helps me GREATLY to keep producing quality content to share.

Beautiful. God bless you all. 🙏🏾✨🙏🏾
My mom bought my dad a 1956 Fender Esquire guitar and amp for their first Anniversary in 1957. Yes it's still in the family :)
I’m very glad you are taking your marriage as a priority. Keep working at it. Marriage will get better with time. Remember that no one and nothing is perfect on this earth. So, allow each other the space to make mistakes, forgive each other and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Also, look for your spouse’s love language and do that for each other. This is very important to have a full tank of love.
Working too much can really kill a marriage. One sure thing, he is a VERY lucky guy, I can see why he fell in love with you !
So many marriages fail because one or both spouses can’t or won’t put in the work that it takes to keep a marriage working and on the same journey together. I pray that both of you continue in the direction you have chosen ,and many more collaborations of life keep you close and in love….. be the exception!!!!
Amazing story. You benefited my husband's & my relationship. He works from home and I'm medically retired. We need a "guitar" project. Easton did a great job!
“Failing Forward “. I love that. My grandfather had a similar philosophy, he taught “How to Fail”.
Absolutely! 🙏
God bless.
Anne, I totally agree that spending quality time with your best friend is the most important and necessary thing to do to grow a strong life together. I enjoy doing things with my husband more than anyone. I get a deep appreciation for him. Merry Christmas and God Bless too you and yours!
8:13 Love it ❤
A five year old shot the music video? I’ve worked with pros that didn’t shoot that well…my, oh my. Such talent!
The Easton Cam was the best part!
Brought tears to my eyes
Congrats to you and Adam for choosing to make your marriage work, and working your marriage. That is really the key in marriage, both people choosing the marriage over momentary comfort. Blessings and grace are almost always the result of your effort, anchored boats cannot be steered and thus, go no where.
Key words: "both people." At least it shows mutual interest, mutual effort and hopefully mutual love.
You and @speakrighttogod said it best.
Time. My wife use to usher our children, their friends and our friends children to here, there and everywhere. We had the 7 passenger van; is what I thought. I commented once to her that she seemed to be the mom doing most of the driving. Her response: I don't care I get to spend time with them. She was right. Not every moment is wonderful but it is wonderful to have every moment.
Excellent !
Okay you made me cry. I love watching your videos but this probably was the best one yet. Certainly the most important. My dear wife and I have been married since 1975 and she is the greatest blessing of my life. Continue to value your marriage!
Thanks for watching! 🙏
So happy to hear that you're doing well
A lucky couple. Wit enough o recognize the trouble and courage enough to change.
I'm a brand new subscriber and this is my first comment. 😊 You are such an inspiration to so many and I love your content! Thank you. I will be watching many of your videos. Best to you both and continued blessings in your marriage 🙏
Thank you so much! 🙏
That’s AWESOME I’ll be 60 this year and I can’t even play the radio 😅 We are on year five of homesteading and year 42 of marriage Keep on moving forward fail or no fail learn love and keep on being happy
These ARE the good old days.
💯
THIS is what it's about. Period.
Anne, goodonya for keeping it real :)
Well. That’s the best video I’m going to watch all day.
The best Stew Mac commercial ever 😆 seriously though, quitting corporate America is a fantastic decision & I'm glad that you are both happier making things & working together 💛
THIS is love. Relationships require work. They are hard and full of struggles but if people love each other, they can also flourish with good communication and vulnerability. This story was beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I hate commercials but this one is not, it is a love story❤
MORE PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR AND UNDERSAND THIS MESSAGE!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! BLESSINGS TO YOU BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My heart just grew 2 sizes ❤️
Easton holds a steadier camera than I do!!!
He did a great job !
OK, Anne --- side note before I forget (still watching the video) . . . WONDERFUL to see your BEAUTIFULLY restored farm truck actually moving. And DRIVING!! If you've posted the completion elsewhere, I must have missed it. That truck is da BOMB!!!
God bless you and this story really from the bottom of my heart I need to hear this its good medicine for the soul
I love this story.
Remember you and Adam are bone of bone and flesh of flesh, one bone one flesh. Love each other, enjoy each other and never be in competition with each other. Make your self Adams playmate and make Adam your playmate. Most of all love each other.
Excellent video and message. Best of luck with your business!
I have a fairly stressful job as an engineer and manager at a fast paced medical device design company. I have found that if I don't get enough "shop time" making stuff, either for work or for fun, the stress builds up. There is a release in making something fun and functional, especially if it is a new invention (that later gets patented) or something made useful from scrap. Even better when you involve your family and friends in an epic build.
I am working with my wife for more than 30 years, just the two of us, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Awesome !
I bet your husband is a really nice guy and you deserve no less than that. To many long and happy times and life together! That don't happen by mistake you know. I know you know.
No one looks back on their life and looks fondly on their office job. They remember the time spent together, vacations, adventures, personal projects. Thank you for sharing this part of your life and leading by example. ❤️
Adam has SKILLS ❤
your cut scenes are very well done. This might be the first time we've ( I ) have seen (3:33) your more formal wedding ring.
Thanks! 🙏
Amen
My aunt achieved her childhood dream of become a farmer when she got re-married to a neighbor who raised dairy cows. Which they retired from recently only to rehab a condemned house together. Watching how they worked together, and also seeing how much you threw yourself into your projects, I thought "it's got to be hard on their marriage for Adam to be so disconnected from all of this". I thought I might see a video about that at some point, and I'm so glad it's a happy one!
Dang it, Anne! You had me in tears, again! Love, love, love hearing these stories. You two make me smile and long for what you're building together. Miss you, buddy!
My marriage is in good shape. Doesn't mean I won't thoroughly enjoy building that guitar kit she got for me. Just have to finish her ukulele before Christmas.
@Anne-ofAllTrade Thanks, but I'll take a pass on this obvious scam. @Anne of All Trades, are you seeing this poser?
Wow. In tears. Beautiful.
Dang nice Telecaster!!! Dang nice video! Thanks for sharing Anne! Best to you and Adam!
I bought one of those Type S kits from Stew Mac last year and I even have some upgrades like a set of new Fender Eric Johnson pickups and a Floyd Rose Rail Tail... still sitting in the box. The quality of the kit parts are top notch and I actually checked the neck to body fit immediately, perfect. Maybe I'll give that a go this Christmas instead of sitting around in despair. Thanks for the thought to refresh my memory and video.
Go for it! Those strat kits are great!
Couldn't agree with you more. The time you spend making great memories is priceless.
Just saw this video, what an awesome story and so much truth. a year before retiring I started looking for projects to do , I now make pens and things, It has saved me. please keep making this videos you may never know how many people you are reaching that are being touched by them.
A good reminder of what is most important.
Awesome and inspiring video guys. You have your priorities straight. 👍
Thanks, Jason! 🙏

Thank you for sharing your love and work to save that love with all of us.
GO Girl! Even-though I ended up alone, i totally agree with you fight for your relation is the most important thing in the world. People in general give up to easy, especially when life kicks you right in the ... I am happy for you two, that you found your music back again.
A beautiful story about a beautiful couple with a beautiful message… Thanks for sharing x
Awesome story, thank you for sharing! Love the Easton Cam, tell the young man he did a good job.
Such an awesome way to reset priorities in your marriage and life!
At the end of the day, all one has left is the memories. I hope everything works out for you and Adam.👏🙏👍
Anne and Adam, more than a guitar you found a way back. The power of two exponentially expanded?
Fantastic story. Fantastic message. Thank you for sharing. ❤
I think the kindest, most loving thing any person can do for another is to free them from the yolk; I love that you were able to do this!
Two thumbs up, one for each of you. My daughter is just in the throws of a divorce, so good for you for fighting to make it last. That's a dying art.
Amazing story! Can't wait to see what you build together.
Your story is so spot on especially at this time of year! Thanks for sharing this beautiful story! I'm so glad you put your marriage first!
Good camera work by the kid. I've seen stuff by adults who don't do it that well. 👍
😂
Great storytelling, Annie, with a moral that resonates best at Christmas time. Love you guys.
Right on! In today’s chaotic times, true love can be difficult to maintain. Over the years as I watched your videos, it was always obvious that you two were meant for each other. Felicidades on rediscovering true love💕🙏🏼
Great story and hope you have many years together!!!
Great video…again!! Real people being real!
Priceless memories! ❤
Thanks for sharing......so true! Shout out to Stew Mac......if you haven't hit their website yet, they are an amazing company. Great products and great service.
You guys are always an inspiration, I’ll never come close but will try harder to get my wife involved. Thanks for your videos and all the best as you continue to move forward. I need to stop treading water.
Great video! I didn't know you all were musicians as well. I like you even more now.
I love you guys! The past few months or so has been the first time I can see your "each other" in each other's eyes. This is something rare among couples, and isn't really allotted for in the traditional modern American lifestyle. I'm so excited for you guys that you've taken a leap towards each other, and I know for sure you'll continue to be rewarded for this effort and devotion. Love ya, thanks for sharing your journey and the cam that almost got away. xox
awesome 🙌, i didn't know you guys where a musical duo
Best video ever! Thank you for sharing your story as it speaks volumes to my life and heart. ❤
I absolutely love how you’ve been sharing your story recently. So raw and real and needed in the world!
WOW. Thanks. Great life story.
Nice work on the rhythm section too. I see a stave shell set of drums in the future?
So great. Bless you
God bless you and your marriage!
Fantastic… Thanks for sharing!
love you guys!!!!
Congrats on your 10 year anniversary! :)
Love it! Not the point of the video, but I’ve totally wanted to get one of those guitar kits, but I was t sure how fun it would be to build. Glad you guys had fun.
Totally agree with you, nothing beats being able to see what you have made, I have farmed and made things to earn a living all my life, working with my wife and children some of the time, they are all adults now, with partners and some with children, most of them also make their living making things, others for fun, teaching them to make was the most important thing we did.
#truth Congratulations on finding what worked for the two of you.
Beautiful! Truly finding each other again and working together to do what you love doing is the best thing ever!
Anne, been watching you since day one. A PNW Corporate Guy 30 years with only days off per year with my family. Sucks and sucked, but that is the job model in corporate america, and god for bid you take a full week or two weeks off in a row. You hit the nail on the head, those 10 days making that guitar were PRICELESS. I myself relate with all the same struggles you encountered with trying to live the true life vs. the life we have too to get bye. I remember when you moved from PNW to Tenn. and all the struggles since, and you have come out the OTHER SIDE with Amazing Grace! Congrats on getting back to TRUE NORTH with Adam and Happy Holidays!
Hi Pete, you sound like a stella bloke with a good heart that’s yearning for something more fulfilling, so, and I mean no judgment here, why do you stay in the corporate trap? After 30 white collar years, don’t you have “enough”? What’s keeping you there?
Man that is great video! I haven’t seen your stuff on YT lately and this was a great way to come back. I think you are a treasure. I hope you keep doing what your doing, and I wished you were closer because I’d love to collaborate…..
Y'all are great examples of how you can work together for the good things.
Good for you guys!!!
Love the message...happy for you guys.
Nothing compares to following your dreams. So happy for you both. ♥️
This is amazing ❤
a great story - thank you
