The thing that made Dirty Rotten Scoundrels such a classic, other than Caine and Martin who were fantastic, it's the gender role reversal at the end of the film. Making a progressive film ironically gives a man the upper hand in the end.

I agree completely. And what was really great was the very end, when she came back. This was so key because this really showed who was who: Yes, Glenn Headly was clearly the master of all of of them, but how about how Caine played right into the part that Headly threw at him? Without a split second of rehearsal, Caine immediately becomes the Aussie Chips O’Toole! She knew he’d catch in without kissing a beat! And then, she wisely chose to make Steve Martin a “mute” 😂! Martin was good, but he wasn’t quite a Jedi yet! Headly and Caine were.

It is almost as though they make these gender swap remake films as charmless and bad as possible just to piss us off even more and shit all over the original franchise.

Why would they even make a remake? Why not just a sequel?? Imagine a story of the now "three" swindlers at the end of the original? That'd be a riot too.

Same reason they decided to remake Ghostbusters rather than doing a sequel. They just need to be woke for the sake of being woke and it's just horrendous. Just like how they are now making people gay just to say "we have a gay character". It's to the point where the character's whole reason for being there is just so that they can check that box.

The difference is that Steve Martin's character is very much, oh, I'm hungry, I don't want to impose. But since you asked, I suppose I could tell you a bit. And as long as you buy me a cheeseburger, I could tell you a bit more of my sobstory. It's such an obvious con that Michael Caine is laughing in the background. And all he gets out of it is a cheeseburger. It's just a soft con that nobody can object or even identify the guy scamming free cheeseburgers because he needs to get to his mom for his surgery.
In the remake there's some chick copying the plot of Taken.

I just remembered this remake, the scene where Rebel Wilson plays the blind prsn and Hathaway plays the doctor. Not funny to begin with and even less so when compared to Micheal Cain whipping Steve Martin's legs. I saw a couple more scenes and decided it wasn't for me. DRS has been a favorite of mine since i was 4 and i don't want to waste my time

I don’t know why people give The Hustle such a bad review. Yes, it’s wasn’t the best movie released that year, and in general, and it’s predictable on its own without knowing the original/s, but it’s still a good movie to watch when nothing else is on and provides enough comedy to get viewers to the end. AH is stunning as always, and RW does a good job with comic relief and not making her character to unbelievable.
I really think it’s because Audiences still don’t enjoy watching females pursue male characters as well can’t accept women in duel funny/comedic roles while portraying powerful and semi-raunchy characters.
It’s not a great movie, but it’s still a fun and funny watch; it’s definitely not as bad/terrible as Rotten Tomatoes and other “critics” make it out to be.

Eating sugar from a package is not funny or realistic, talking about sex slavery is not funny, the idea that a fat lady is intrinsically "dirty" messy etc is not nice, I don't like it either the way he expresses about actress Rebel in the video , she's doing what was requested of her, what is awful is the script, not the lady. She has interpreted those kinds of roles in the past and those roles made her famous, and the reason they hired her, she just plaids her part.
