This is one of my most favorite songs from a video game ever. The fuguelike melody is just so beautiful to me. And this arrangement... wow. It gives the song a real Tim Burton vibe, and I love every second of it.
And composed around the same time! Partners in Time shares some musical similarities to KH2 as well, which were even closer in terms of development time.
She's a great character! I'm working on a Super Mario and Danganronpa crossover, and I plan on giving her lots of attention because she's often so overlooked.
This is a very nice contrast from the official remix on 3DS. That version emphasizes how evil and dangerous Cackletta is. Your version shows her more playful and exuberant side. I dig it!
Soooooooo deliciously crispy and posh, and with a sinister bite, just perfect dangit. Especially when the remake was kinda muddy in some tracks, like, the most crucial boss songs... I had made a Smash concept with Fawful and Cackletta's soul, I really like their designs and dialogue 💚
It's a tiny bit of a shame all the great Mario RPG villains get killed off immediately. Cackletta, Princess Shroob, Antasma, and Grodus all die in their debuts. Only Fawful got the honor of appearing multiple times. Bleck was redeemed (unknown fate). But Dimentio's fate is uncertain. After all, he lasts says he is not finished, and is saving one last surprise.
Today, with all these rules and political freedom, you'd never get away with anything. Back in the _day,_ however, the world was just a bit more colourful, and lawless as a result. It's the same for Mario, and the Mario&Luigi series contributes to that atmosphere. Whereas Bowser and other creeps like King Olly need to overthrow everything to rule as of today, Cackletta represents the moustache-twirling, rope-tying, ACME investing, old-school villain in a big way. She doesn't need a sympathetic cause to hide behind. She doesn't need to already have the world in her hands before you even fight her. She doesn't need to provide an underlying commentary on dismissing preconceptions about archetypes, like witches. All this baddie needs is a loyal minion, an evil laugh, and a dream she'll undermine anybody in order to achieve: Even her whole kingdom. And Peach's, apparently. Oh, and this banger remix is a must. It's just as good as both OSTs.
Why this wasn't the standard for the remake is beyond me. Like the remake was still okay overall but I guess Wonder Boy The Dragon's Trap spoiled me for graphical and, especially, musical upgrades. At least Link's Awakening was good enough in doing that.
Do note however that Links Awakening was outsold by Goose Game for almost the entirety of its debut. Methinks the people spoke on that games design and price tag when a simple goose game was found more fun and entertaining than a cult-loved classic.
@@KitsuneDzelda UGG outsold it for 2 reasons: 1 it was cheaper, so that's fair. 2 because lol memes. That's all a game needs nowadays and I find that quite disappointing because Untitled Goose Game is a very original and creative idea that only got popular because funny goose does funny stuff. Reminds me of how people who haven't played Undertale only see it as a "meme game".
I would love for them to remake Partners in Time, they remade Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story, but Partners in Time is kinda just stuck on the DS. I don't really see it happening though since AlphaDream went under in like 2019.
Ripping off of another witch's style?! Even for me, that's truly vile! I'm waiting for you at the top of my lair, so come up and challenge me...if you dare!
This probably sounds odd, but I feel like I'm absolutely certain that this song's name is "I'm Condemnable". I know that's not the name this song was given, but I feel like that's its true name, regardless of what anybody can do about it. Does that make sense? Probably not.

This more whimsical sound was an unexpected but welcome change.
This sounds a LOT like the Monstro world theme in Kingdom Hearts 1. Though, that game was also composed by Yoko. So it makes sense.
That what i were thinking about !
They were both composed by the same person!
And composed around the same time! Partners in Time shares some musical similarities to KH2 as well, which were even closer in terms of development time.
Tell me about it. I can't listen to the Monstro world music and NOT comment with "Eeeyah ha ha ha!".
I can't get over how much I adore this. Cackletta is my favorite video game character of all time, you guys absolutely did this theme justice.

Of all game characters? And there’s a LOT 💀
@@angelicabutterfly1794how did the crossover go

That cello goes hard af.
This needs to be on spotify

I wouldn't mind seeing another shot at Cackletta being the main villain in a Mario game tbh
She's kinda dead... so I doubt we'll ever see her again.
@@haydenbush8518 dead is quite an understatement xd

@@aaronTGP_3756 But Sir Grodus is alive, albeit just a head now...

Feels like walking through an old colorful castle
So hilariously evil that you could only... cackle. Gah- that sounded better in my head.
my stupid self was expecting the battle theme, but I love this so much! thanks for more great work!
This is so incredible and beautiful! Well done! Keep up the amazing work
the madmans tea party
DAMN you did not have to go so hard on this, sounds amazing
This channel is super underrated
0:00 I though this was supposed to be Cackletta, not Monstro from Kingdom Hearts
Sounds more like Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie, imo
@@fhtraveler i don't think so, but I do hear a bit of Grunty, admittedly
I was ready for the showdown music lol

I liked the organ theme, it was really menacing
Sounds kinda like an evil bar mitzvah
sounds like a fairy tale

This is what a Switch remake would sound like. Superstar Saga and Partners in Time are probably the easiest to remake for a home console.
