  • One of the best ways to do the “Retro Simon Game” thing, in my opinion.
Yes, even more so than Simon (2013)/Touch Simon.
This was meant to be as retro as possible, down to recreating the texture of the buttons, and that’s REALLY AWESOME!
I’m not going to bother getting the 2016 version, as it’s literally the exact same thing, but feels a bit heavier, and has a few aesthetic differences, so, you’re not really missing much, anyway.

Yes, this in fact the reissue from last year, which is a slight “remake” of the 2016 version, which I’m not going to get for this marathon.
There’s no reason to do so.
It’s literally the exact same thing, with a few aesthetic differences, and requires 3 AA batteries, thus making it a bit heavier.
The 2016 version DOES have grips underneath, but, that’s the only important thing about that one.
The 2020 version is definitely worth checking out, as it’s still in print, from what I remember.
This Simon, be it 2016 or 2020, was made to be as retro as possible, right down to the texture on the buttons, which feel just like the original.
They have that rough texture to them, which is what the original had all those years ago.
    It also SOUNDS retro, too.
If you’re a newcomer to Simon, I definitely recommend this one.
    It’s really awesome.

I’ve got the 2016 version. It’s also worth noting that the power button became full black with the 2020 reissue.

      @@AtlantaArchive I like the 2013 version a lot more.
I’m still not sure as to why they thought changing the color of the Power/Volume button for the 2020 reissue was a good idea, because it’s really hard to spot.
I don’t think there’s anything else noteworthy about the reissue compared to the 2013 version.
All I can really think of is the Power button thing mentioned above, and how the 2014 had grips integrated into the back of the unit, which I’m not sure why they removed those when they reissued it in 2020, and I think the 2013 version is slightly heavier whereas the 2020 version is lighter, but I might have that backwards.

Is there a test mode for this one, I would not be surprised if there isn’t because of how basic it is.

      No, there is, actually.
Vader also has a Test Mode, as well.
