It will help me when I play this version. I thought onion knight was going to be awesome/powerful if it was maxed but that may have been over exaggerated.
@@Dan88Eriksson The Onion Knight is the strongest class. The problem with them are that you need to be in the mid 90s before you really start to see it. When your character level is 99, I believe all of their base stats are also at 99.
It’s not practical or necessary, but it’s worth mentioning that onion knight actually has the potential to be the strongest class in the game. After level 92 he gains 12 in every stat for every level up. Paired with the rare onion gear drops from the rare dragons in the crystal tower, onion knight becomes the strongest class by far. Edit: people give scholar a hard time, but it’s actually extremely powerful if you know how to use it. Just farm some damage items and use the “alchemy” ability of scholar to double the potency. Trivializes any boss with weaknesses, and still strong against ones that don’t have them. I’ve been thinking of trying a 3 scholar 1 thief run. Outside of farming the items themselves, I expect most of the game to be very easy outside of a couple spots.
Their melee damage isn't half bad sometimes either, especially since all of it is elemental. Literally hitting things with books is the coolest thing ever.
Scholar is stil pure crap job lv 99 Monks/Black Belts will still kill Garuda in 1 turn WITHOUT having to rely on item drops at all or the Thief class TO STEAL the item drops needed.
I disagree on the Evoker and Scholar ranking. Something good about this game is that compared to the 3D version magic doesn't suck lol. - So what's good about the Evoker? Only one very specific tech, the white magic version of Odin's summon. It cast reflect on the entire party, which enables us to cast a spell on our 4 party members and then reflecting it x4. Is just something that can be done for fun, it's not "the best way or fastest way to beat the game". But I wanted to mention it. - The Scholar, why would I rank it higher? Because thanks to the alchemy command I believe it's called, it doubles the damage done with items. They are capable of doing a lot of damage. However using one forces us to 1st get a high level thief to steal items and 2nd farm those items. Which can be very inconvenient. However it's another option for those who want to try something different.

I know this way late just watching this video in 2024 but I wanted to defend monk and say that it should be ranked higher at least A tier This is because leveling the job level of monk raises its attack power when bare handed, meaning that the attack power and damage dealing capability of monk is completely independent from both equipment and character level which means if you’re doing a low level run or want to save money on weapons or even just early in the game if you’re willing to spend about an hour grinding the monk job level to 99 right outside of the first town the job becomes an absolute beast of attack power meaning you can pretty much one hit kill most enemies until at least the third if not 4th crystal and black belt is the same just better and with the best vitality stat in the game meaning the best HP growth and chances at getting characters to 9999 HP which I think should bump black belt up to S tier

The big plus about Evoker is Heatra and how it heals the entire party during a battle when really needed. Sure Summoner does the most powerful summon attacks; but it does lose some of the additional attacks the Evoker provided. I’d at least put Evoker at B on that merit alone.
I recently did an FF3 four job fiesta challenge run and got Evoker on the third crystal. I can say without a doubt Evoker is a D tier job. That healing move is not reliable as it is done at random with Ifrit sometimes doing a damaging move instead. Ifrit is literally the only summon worth summoning with an Evoker as well as all the other summons literally try doing a crappy status effect that either misses or provides no benefit more often than not.
Also personally speaking Magus is a straight up S. The meteor and flare spells work best with this class and are almost mandatory spells to use on the final bosses.
Ranger is extremely good but only if you’re willing to grind to job level 70, where each hit is 0.8x damage for a total of 2.4x damage. I think it’s only 1.2x at job level 1. I would put ranger at A.
Can't find a decent bow to make the ranger dangerous. . . One of the 1st classes I 99'd cuz my daughters name is jade so she named my green onion knight jade also. . . No love for the bard… 😢💔 I used one all the way until I got sage and switched it out. Such a good class… free healing and buffs with the songs!! You can’t go wrong
Bard still sucks if I need free healing use 4x job lv 99 Dragoons with 2x bloody spears only use Jump attacks only and you'll still NEVER die even with the last boss using Particle beam EVERY turn. However WITH the FULL onion knight set that job class goes from PURE CRAP to the same S tier too bad the 3 dragons still almost NEVER show up in the Crystal tower while STILL barely having a 1% drop rate for it.
Someone made a playthrough that they defeated Cloud of Darkness using 4 Scholars 😂 Some jobs are less "straightforward", but doesn't mean they're completely useless. Jobs in this game are somehow limited by their equipment supports, which does haper their effectiveness.
Ive done this 4 times just this year, and bard is easily S tier. It just supports your team in the best of ways not to mention it has priority to go first whenever music is played. It sucks early on, but once job levels start to pick up, it becomes a requirement to survive some fights. In fact, bard is such a hard carry that my challenge runs are designed around me not using bard Ninja OP af. It keeps up with classes that youve been using out of the box and only gets better. Dark knight is easily C tier because it doesnt get any weapons until later in the game. By time you can use it, job level isnt high enough for bladeblitz to do enough. At that point, i just flee all those fights since they take up way too much time.
@@GenesisVIIpretty much, ill revise my statement and say bard is A tier. It really shines once you unlock most of the buffs BUT the early job levels kind of suck. Its also easy to raise because spamming the heal song will always allow it to take a turn for easy job EXP
Onion knight is an S class badass. Onion knight is absolutely the strongest class in the game. . . Got my answer soon as I had one fully built with dual onion swords. . . At that point had to do the other 3. . . . Ninja sage and viking helped this mission tremendously
I’d have to say I agree with the tier ranking except I would move geomancer and summoner to c. For how late you get summoner, it’s just pointless. The knife for the Thief was Orihalcum and I loved dual wielding those! The weapons that stole HP made my team Knight, Thief, Dragoon and White Mage for a hot minute! All three of my attackers could steal HP and it was glorious haha.
So far I haven't had much use for the thief. I bought magic keys so I didn't need to unlock doors. Hope he gets an incredible bump in damage dealing at the very end of the game.

Think it’s odd you put black and white mage in the same tier as warrior and monk, the warrior and monk fall off pretty early due to weapon access where the black and white mage really don’t falter for such a long time
Nice ranking video. I have just finished a 5th playthrough of FF3 myself recently, albeit with the 3D remake this time again. (Call me crazy but those playthroughs were all this year) I also used all the jobs at least once, but throughout the Famicom, 3D and PR version, so I haven't necessarily experienced every job to the fullest for any given version of the game. I think the only job placement I really do not agree with is the Scholar. In my 2nd playthrough(3D remake) I dedicated a character to that role, while another to Thief. So with the Thief I could stock up on offensive items that work like strong magic spells, which when used by the Scholar was twice as strong, which I thought was pretty good in every boss fight - and being able to check enemy weaknesses would allow me to deal much faster and more effectively with regular enemies. As far as I can tell the Pixel Remaster has these 2 jobs work mostly the same while the original Famicom game doesn't. So I thought it was useful and actually pretty fun. I'd imagine it's not for people who prefer to rush through an RPG however. And on another note, I find the Bard job interesting. In the original game it feels rather worthless, while in 3D it felt really good. While I had no chance to try it out on the PR, looking at what the wiki details, it looks like it's okay at best there. To end my long comment, I want to say I am glad the 3D and PR versions reworked these jobs from the original, as it made some of them more enticing to use.
Bard in PR functions essentially similar with 3D, but instead of choosing harps for different songs, each song is now learned through Job Levels. Paeon (party heal) is their default song, and it works the same as Paeon on 3D.
@@sertiana2512 Oh I see, I think the difference with Requiem in both versions specifically made me judge it incorrectly. As in the 3D version, it did damage based on how much HP the enemy had, which in most bosses meant 3-4K damage the first round or 9999+ damage on each part of Remake's Cloud of Darkness the first round. Whereas in PR it just puts status ailments on all enemies? Not useful to how I'd play at least. This being different in the Pixel Remaster made me think it would be less useful, but quite frankly I don't know how I thought that with the buffing songs still being there. I'll consider Bard whenever I do another Pixel Remaster playthrough, should be fun.
@DarTisD Yeah. Requiem is the only song that is distinctly different between two versions. Also, Minuet (Attack buff song) in PR boost both Strength (for physical attacks) and Intelligence (for magic attacks), while in 3D it only affects physical attacks. Bard is a really good mid-game job, being able to carry the team through the Earth Crystal arcs.
I’ll have to disagree on the onion knight as it it the best job on the game with the best equipment also. But it’s potential is when you reach level 99 not worth it if you below 93
it's a nifty gimmick having the onion knight be mediocre level 1-89, then get exponentially powerful 90-100... however, a typical playthrough the game will be done by level 90
Job games are weird to tierlist because if you've used the same jobs all the way to the end and the game can be finished as is...all late game "OP" jobs are useless. For example Ninja for me was useless because I had three warriors spamming advance wrecking everything in sight Of course if you JL99 everything maybe something else would be better. Baiscally Whm + 3 warriors were S for me lol
If you dont grind or change starting jobs it was like this for me... S: Warrior Whm Devout Sage Evoker A: Bard Thief Monk Ninja Dragoon DarkKnight B: Summoner Scholar Viking Knight BlackBelt C: Rdm Magus Blm D: Ranger Geomancer E: OnionKnight Evoker can just spam Heatra for a chance of curaga (it happens a lot). The reason warrior is in S is becausd Advance is broken lol. It will do far more damage than switching to a JL1 ninja using shurikens. If I had stuck with viking or knight the whole game they would be higher tbh. Having viking provoke every turn in the back row with double shields is OP but only if provoke doesnt miss constantly (at low JL). Bard would probably also be S tier at JL99
First video of yours I've watched and I don't think I'll be watching more, putting Onion Knight in the bottom tier either means you don't actually know what you're talking about or you're just trying to farm engagements like this one. Sorry for the rudeness, just trying to give some feedback.
That’s fine with me, if you watched the video you’d grasp the fact this was my first time playing, thus a perspective of someone playing for the first time. I said it how it was for me. That being said people brought up the perks of Onion Knight (in a much nicer way) which will change the way I approach the game the next time I play it.
@@GenesisVIIYou asked for feedback, and my feedback is that you shouldn't be advertising this as a tier list when it's really just a "thoughts and opinions" on the different jobs. it's a nifty gimmick having the onion knight be mediocre level 1-89, then get exponentially powerful 90-100... however, a typical playthrough the game will be done by level 90
You literally explained why it's the worst job in the game. Only useful at the end of the game? Boring.
Do you need to use each job at least once to platinum it? Cos it's becoming a chore everytime i unlock a new batch of them
Nope the only job related trophies are to level just one of them to 99
@@GenesisVII Good to know, thanks
Job games are weird to tierlist because if you've used the same jobs all the way to the end and the game can be finished as is...all late game "OP" jobs are useless. For example Ninja for me was useless because I had three warriors spamming advance wrecking everything in sight
Of course if you JL99 everything maybe something else would be better. Baiscally Whm + 3 warriors were S for me lol
If you dont grind or change starting jobs it was like this for me...
S: Warrior Whm Devout Sage Evoker
A: Bard Thief Monk Ninja Dragoon DarkKnight
B: Summoner Scholar Viking Knight BlackBelt
C: Rdm Magus Blm
D: Ranger Geomancer
E: OnionKnight
Evoker can just spam Heatra for a chance of curaga (it happens a lot).
Viking and bard are top tier
May-gus or May-jus to say Magus
fack i need help, can I keep the first jobs the whole game or is that juit completely stupid
The first job is onion knight. I would not use them. Onion Knights are on late game the best classes. But not at beginning
I would start on the harder games now.
Many viewers are looking for something more objective from somebody more knowledgeable when they search for a tier list... not somebody that doesn't even elaborate on how Onion Knight works and places him in D-tier.
Sorry you've taken offence to Onion Knight being in D. As I've stated numerous times, it's a personal tier list based of my latest experience. Appreciate your thoughts, but I don't think my stuff is for you
@@GenesisVIIIf this is a personal tier list, then the title probably shouldn't say "best job in FF3?!?" When you have no intention of properly addressing that question, and in fact put the best job in D-tier with no elaboration.
I agree that your content is not for me, that's what I said in my first comment. Good luck in the future!
Most people are going to complete the game at around character level 55 and the Onion Knight is only good once you get past level 90, at which point any class will make the game trivial. So yes, it absolutely is D tier and pretending it's anything else is laughable.
