If you don't care about marring up your rims, changing tires with tire levers gets alot easier. It also doesn't hurt to have a pliable tire with a rim that has a deep drop center.
it works with any tyres mate. brand new Rock hard Dunlop or Bridgestone slicks. I've never not been able to do a tyre yeah it's a touch harder when they're really hard tyres but with this good technique it'll do any rubber 😊
great vid for soft tires. thanks! didn't quite work on my metzger tho. I had to cut it off and clip the bead with a bolt cutter. I used a C clamp to squeeze the bead off the rim
@@Drnardinov I've done Dunlop fronts in February like! Not ideal but with practice it does work on anything, although aye, definitely tougher on a new Dunlop/harder tyre!
Same technique used and takes just as long with painted, polished or chromed rims. Just need to buy rims savers and leave the tire out in the sun to get warm and it will soften up. Good video.
yea, he gives a sh.t about the rim being scratched, but it's a great no-bullshit instructional video, as compared to the tons of clips where people apparently love nothing more than hear themselves talking to a webcam. Thx for a great video! Unfortunately, on my bike, the tyre is much more stiff and tight than in all the instructionals I've seen. It's a backbreaking pain in the .ss
wow this is cool, I have to change me rear tire, the shop to do it, was $135.00... going try to do it my self... do anything on the tire has to be line up.
It's a garden tool for edging (I think) with rubber around the sharp edge. Brilliant idea if your careful and/or removing old tires not to be use again.
OMG, it looks so easy, but it took me 5 hours and end up having to cut off the tire in pieces to get it off yesterday, and I used the better tools and strong arms. I am shocked!
same here out of frustration I also cut the tire in half.Problem I had hard 150size radial tire continental that even bent my tire irons and would not badge. This video is misleading since he is install huge soft tire.Try 150 size hard tire.I do like his modified shovel bead breaker.I used 2 C clams 8 inches long works real well and rims are safe no risk of damage.
I know mate but they are wheels off my race bike. For time and ease, i am happy to do this. Totally agree though if it was a road bike! £15 per wheel for a powder coat at the end of each season though, happy days!
why did u spin tire before putting it on ? are you looking for a marker of some sort? I know the arrow has to be facing the right way, but is their something else that needs to line up?
@@vd2597dot :- stands for Department Of Transportation, it means the Tyre is legally allowed to use on the high way/Rd. What was the stuff that you rubbed onto the tyre before putting it back on? Was it just grease? Also where did you get the metal tool you used to take the tyre off and put it back on again and where can I get one?
puttputt1992 Absolutely no grease!! Or petroleum oils of any kind! There are specific tyre mounting pastes to buy. However, liquid soap, dish detergent with water or window cleaner works very well. Tools are everywhere, just google for tire/tyre levers.
Blimey that's a great video thanks for posting. It makes me wish even more that I had changed my own tyres recently when some idiot I paid to do it damaged a tyre pressure sensor on my BMW which is going to cost £200 to replace. I would rather have to put up with a scratched rim than have to pay that out.
You have done this a couple of times haven't you? :D I used to change tires for a job for few years, mostly cars, but did some bike wheels also. But I had a tyremachine etc. Not bad, not bad at all bro.Not a single wasted move.
it was a video I made for a forum of racers who need to change quickly. I fully agree for road riders they should use rim protectors but the racers I made it for spray wheels once a year and just deal with the minimal scratching to get the job done when time is of the essence between races and with changing weather conditions 😊.
+johntheguru Ok fair enoguh :D I just watched about 10 different tutorials on this because I'm thinking about doing my first tire swap ever. I'm so nervous to break something
E-Nonymouse haha i raced on that tyre, i didnt do anything to it lol. it is a softer rain tyre but the principles and techniques are always the same 😊✌
For stiff tires you just need to warm the sidewalls to make the rubber more malleable. Can either: Leave bike in direct sunlight for an hour, run hot water over it for a few minutes or deflate the tyre slightly and go for a ride to warm it up. Will be a lot easier to break the bead.
Honestly, with the right technique, there's never been a tyre that hasn't been changed with this method. Countless Dunlop slicks which are HARD carcasses. Seriously hard. The softest tyre with bad technique is a nightmare, but the hardest with the right technique is still fine! :)
@@johntheguru I agree i just did a 190 65 16 on my rear Harley and those 2x4 under the wheel is key i tried it with out them and came to a stall put them under and tire went right on
The only thing I would say is to use lube (soapy water) on every side to prevent the rubber from tearing. And always use a little lube on the inside of the second bead as it gets refitted.
this was made for a lot of racing friends in the race paddock who changed get tyres 5 to 10 times per weekend at race meetings. I totally understand that it's not really a good option for carbon rims or for people who really don't want to damage their rims. however with plastic rim protectors I have also taken a few minutes longer and changed many tyres for riders with nice shiny bikes who want NO damage. it's perectly doable with some extra care 😊
I've gotta say, you spent a hell of a lot less time than I have fighting tires on using the cheapo Harbor Freight tire mounting fixture. As you say, with a few rim protectors this is actually easier. Thanks for sharing.
If you don't fast, quite possibly. If you do it calmly (and with correct technique) not at all 👍. This was a race rim though where some scratches don't matter. Would I do it on a carbon rim? Not a chance 👍
gorillagirlgorilla No. Wood is soft and the tire-iron is touching the inside of the rim, not outside (atleast not much). Bikes are made for riding, not for showrooms.

If you are using tools then you are really not changing it by hand :-) Also this tire looks very soft/pliable thus easy to remove. Mine has reinforced side walls and a bitch to remove even with a machine.
I promise it ain't haha. It's years old now but I changed everything from road tyres to stone cold Dunlop slicks. Never a problem if you get everything right!
Nice 1, easiest tyre change i have seen on you tube, no crap talking just getting it done, cheers bud, would buy you a beer
Best tyre changer I have seen with simple tools. Thanks for sharing..
Amazing, no talking about "special" expensive tools ,just getting it done, no bulshit. Cheers
Great video, straight to the point, no specific tools needed, I’m gonna try this next time i need tyres.
That edger trick to get the bead off really works. Thank you!

Good job of being negative about everything!
Changing a tire out in under 5 mins. Now that's impressive.
This is the most concise instructional video I've seen on this subject.
Bravo pour cette superbe technique et cette grande maîtrise admirable
Excellent ! Video qualtiy is excellent too. You beat everyone who purchased a motorcycle tire changer. Your style doesn't scratch the rim. 5 stars.
Brik Bok P.S. thank you for making the video... youtube is a wonderful place to learn.
Lol doesn't scratch the rim? Those wheels are chewed up
Best RUclips vid yet , no bullshit , just what we need to see. Thanks.
great technique! but only works for soft tires like that one. I know for a fact that a hard tire won't be that easy

You can’t do gold wing tire-rim like this
Nope. I just destroyed a bead on a brand new radial sorry to say.

You made it look like child's play...great video
You make it look so easy.thx
Welp, i saved myself 30 dollars but it did not go this smooth 😂😂. Positioning the knee was genius, Thank you.
Best tyre change vid! Well done
Excellent trick with the lawn edger but I would have used rim protectors for the rest of it!...
Meen just helpd me no shops open to day just seen thz nol got new tiyer on and can have my bike on the rode for new years big ups to thiz guy

The part on the tyre that says dot needs to be lined up with the valve.

scratch the everliving fuck out of them

Perfect, thanks for this one. Gotta get my self a showel :D
Masterful!
I think I can do this....screw paying the shop 150$ great video
what is the stuff in the jar?
tyre soap.
just a lubricant bit don't be tempted to use noma soap as that will activate in rain and get all slippy.
Thanks for the information. I will remember that.
bom dia eficiente superior o mais prático e habilidade de sobra , com estilo .
hell yeah! that does look like the softest tire in the world tho

You're good 👌
That was quick!!!

Y la llanta rascada no importa?
Good job but the wheel is all scratched up dont think it will look to good mounted
Do it this way if you don’t give a shit about scratching your rims
chuchu2301 couldn't have said it better myself
everyone is going to point out the scratches on your rims as you passing going 95
Cool yeah but look how scratched to fuck this rim is
fuck the rim nigga!!! slap that shit on and ride.....
