That Is so bizarre I was on a new permission yesterday and found a Macclesfield token 1791 got back to the landowner for coffee and offered my finds for them to keep, and turns out the property was built in 1791, stunning
Hi Karl, haha yes what a coincidence that is. Well just wait till you see the one I found on an earlier visit to this field. I have not got round to editing the video yet, but it is stunning. Its one of the best condition coins/tokens I've ever found, almost no corrosion on it and a nice brown patina with all the detail, even the words around the edge!!! Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting what I am doing with my channel
Fab video G...really appreciate the time spent digging with both coils. I reckon folk will upgrade to the 13" as the weight difference is negligible . Youre spot on with your observation that its not really about depth difference , but ground coverage. And well done on the coin weight ...absolute beauty! And a silver ..woo hoo !
Hi mate, thanks as always for tuning in and leaving me your feedback. Yes I think the emphasis on this coil is all about extra ground coverage. I reckon with proper testing on various sized targets and using tap measures etc then I could 100% prove any gains or not. It might only be a battered William III love token, but that goes in Tray 2 in my Cabinet :) Again thank you and catch ya on the next episode
We don't count the cost of what we love to do and I know and can tell the love and passion you put into your RUclips channel for us lucky subscribers. I have enjoyed the comparison with your new 13inch coil on this video and appreciate the time and effort put in at the cost of less targets and finds. Love the coin weight 👌 and hope you find the coin 😀 👍
Hi Stephen, I think this is my favourite comment I have received on this video, thank you so much for the appreciation. I do put a lot of graft into my 'projects' and I am usually very proud of each video I upload as I do put a lot of love and attention to detail into them. These are the comments that I use to motivate and inspire myself to carry on doing what I do, so thank you sir. I am close to completing the next project which I hope to upload on Friday, I will see you then
Hello, thank you very much for appreciating the hard work put into this video. I must say it was not ideal carrying 2 coils along with all my other kit. A lot of editing went into this one too, but this is the commitment and the dedication I like to put into the content that I upload. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity. Thanks again for the appreciation and I hope to see you on the next episode - Which I can tell you today I have only just started editing, but its going to be a very beautiful autumnal video :)
Hey Brad, cheers buddy. That coin weight was stunning. I was heartbroken to see I had hit it with my spade. This is an unfortunate part of this hobby though. Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting my metal detecting channel. I hope to see you on my next expedition
Those are some absolutely beautiful fields with amazing history and what we dream about here in America!!! Thanks for the comparison between the 2 coils. Am seriously considering going to the XP Deus 2 and your video helps with the decision! Mike in sunny Florida
Hi Mike in sunny Florida, USA, thank you very much for such kind words and comments. These fields are great fun as there seems to be so much Georgian history here, but very difficult to make any silver finds. The Deus 2 is definitely an elite all weather, all terrain metal detector. What do you currently use? Sorry for the slow reply, I took some time off from RUclips at Christmas. Happy new Year by the way. Gareth
Lovely stuff pal, that coin weight is an absolute worldly! Surprised the 13” was marginal with the depth, but the coverage is the main winner. Another well shot & presented episode Gaz!!
Now then Marcus, I'd say if I'd not hit the dam thing with my spade we would of been looking at one of my best finds of 2022, absolutely gutting but it happens to us all. The ground was like bedrock and I thought it was just another piece of Derbyshire lead!! Thanks so much for the comments, for tuning in every week and supporting what I am doing with my channel
Cracking vid as per Gareth. I think you have done an excellent impartial video review of the coils. You summed it up perfectly at the end, take the rough with the smooth, extra weight but more ground coverage and especially over a year will definitely increase your finds rate 👌🏻👍🏻 love that coin weight mate 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 keep up the great work pal!
Hi mate, I took a week off from RUclips, from editing and replying to comments, but I am back!! Lots and lots of work to do as we see out 2022. I know I have said this time and time again but thank you so much for your support in 2022. I am back in the office today, working alone in a busy Department, actually sucks!!! Hope you and the fam had a great Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in 2023. Gareth
Thank you for the comparison Gareth! I had to sell my Deus II due to life getting in the way, but watching this makes me want to get out swinging again! I have noticed that weather conditions play a large part in detection depth here in Colorado...when there are thunderstorms around I get a little better clarity on deep dime-sized (18mm) targets with the Deus and Deus II. My hunting partner has a Tarsacci, a Rutus, and an Equinox 800 and notices the same thing. "Perfect with Beer!" Too bad the US markets would never allow this to be printed on a bag of chips HAHAHA. Love the videos, thank you again for taking the time to make them!
Hi mate, yes when the ground is wet you should definitely see improved signals and performance compared to those dry summer conditions. It is freezing in the UK currently, I was out detecting Saturday and Sunday, conditions were amazing. Thanks so much for tuning in and taking the time to leave me a comment. I hope to catch you on the next episode
Very timely for me to find this great video. Went out yesterday for the first time ever with my new Deus 11 and the 13 " coil it was supplied with. I did wonder if there were going to be differences after 8 years using the 11" coil on my Deus 1. The only real difference so far is my arm aches a bit more ! ... But we were on stubble.
Hi Mark, you are going to find most things with both coils, but in the long run, you will make more finds with the 13 inch coil as you are covering more ground on every swing. That soon amounts to a huge amount of land covered compared to the smaller coil. I only ever use the 13 inch now, unless the terrain is very steep, and or lumpy/uneven and overgrown, in which case I use the 11 inch. But yeah you do feel it more in the shoulder, particularly when you go large amounts of time without a signal. You really feel it then. Thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video
Hey buddy, cheers, yeah the coin weight really is a thing of beauty, absolutely gutted I clipped it with my spade. Hopefully over time that mark will fade. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel and what I do. Catch you on the next episode. Gareth
Hi, yes the scenery here is nice, but it kinda lacks tree's and waterways, but it is very high up in the Peak District. I had never heard of this coin either, but my oh my one can dream of finding a coin like that right? Thanks as always for choosing to watch my content, catch you on the next episode
I originally bought the deus 2 with 11 inch coil. Then i wanted the 9 inch coil. Xp took forever to get them out. I ended up just buying another deus 2 with the 9 inch coil. Wednesday got the 11x13 and I can't wait to try it out. From my understanding it's not much deeper than the 11 inch coil, but you get more ground coverage. I'm looking forward to it
Hi Gregg, wow you have 2 x Deus 2 machines, that is awesome!! Yes extra ground coverage = more finds. I will be using the 13 inch coil for the next few months and I will do another review. I do really like the 11 inch coil though, I think its the perfect size. Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting my channel. Catch ya on the next episode
Hi Brian, thank you mate, its probably the best coin weight I've ever found. But unfortunately clipping it with my spade ruined the day. But this is part n parcel of metal detecting I guess. Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting my channel. I hope to catch you on the next episode
Great video, Thanks for taking the time to make it, appreciate the time it must have taken to make the video, very informative for me as I have just won a Deus 2 and was wondering which coil to get with it as I have a choice, looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Hi Colin, thanks for the channel visit, for watching this video and for your appreciation. It sure was some effort, constantly swapping coils haha, but I like to put the graft in on my channel. I've done several other guide / tutorial style videos, my most popular is my Beginners Guide To Metal Detecting. You can see that here if you wish: ruclips.net/video/UmR8OgI43uw/видео.htmlsi=J5NjKwybGnkg06gv Thanks again, and hope to see you on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos
A fine field to detect on. Both coils have their quality parts. Having both seems ideal. Good to see you again, Gareth. Hope the ladies of the house are fine. See you on the next. Cheers mate! 😊
Hey there Marty, good to hear from you. Having 2 coils for the Deus2 is brilliant as having a flat battery in a coil is quite a common occurrence with these machines unfortunately. Have you been watching any of the World Cup? Big match for England on Saturday against the mighty French. I fear for England's defence against Mbappe !!
Not only the time and effort you put in detecting and editing these brilliant videos but you also have the weather to deal with. The weather gods were testing you on that day mate and it paid off with the amazing coin weight and silver. I hope your daughter didn’t mind you using her spoons for the air test 😂
Hi Andrew, haha yes, its not pleasant on cold days when it rains and I'm unprepared and ill equipped, my hands were absolutely freezing at one point . But then the sun came back out and everything was rosey again. I've since bought some Sealskinz waterproof gloves for this winter on the cold days, they will be getting trialled this weekend as its going to be freezing. Thanks again for tuning in and supporting my channel and what I do. Take it easy mate
Wow. The quality of this video is amazing. I watched it on my 92" screen, and it blow me away. You do an incredible work here. Nice coin weight. I Hope you find a gold coin that matches the weight.
Hello there Olem my friend, ah thank you so much for the very kind words. I do hope you are watching in 4K on your 92 inch TV?? I am extremely jealous of your TV. I don't even know what my completed videos look like in 4K as I do not even have a 4K player in my house and our broadband internet speed in my area is so slow it would not play 4K. I thank you again for your kind words and for appreciating the hard work I put into my videos each week. I work a full time job Monday to Friday and have a family to look after so finding time to metal detect and then edit videos is hard to come by. Thanks again and catch you on the next episode
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire only 1080p, but on a very good projector. It is snow, and the ground is frozen here in Norway. So looking forward to the next episode.
@@olem.skalevik5381 I believe in 4K, the picture will be 4 X better than 1080P. England is very cold at the moment, it may hit -3 degrees over the next week. Probably hot compared to the weather you get in Norway haha
Hi Tom, thanks so much for taking the time to watch this video and for leaving me a comment. The coin weight was a really cool find but I'm distraught that I scuffed it with my spade. Thanks for tuning in and supporting what I do, hope to catch you on the next episode
Hi Paul, thank you for choosing to watch this video and support my channel. I spent 4 long years using an XP ORX and have probably 180 videos on my channel ALL using the ORX. A lot of guys who watch my channel watch and pick up on how to use the ORX. Obviously I am on the Deus2 now, but for me it works very similar and I picked this machine up very easily. Thanks again for tuning in and I hope to see you again on some of my other metal detecting videos. Gareth
Good to see you again mate! I have some catching up to do! That coinweight was pure magic! Imagine if the coin is actually there as well! You forgot to throw your hat btw :)
Hi mate, great to hear from you. Well its funny you should say that about that coin, I did indeed go back to this field and unbelievably I did find a gold coin... That's a few episodes down the line though. Haha the hat throw thing seems to have faded away, I started to think, why do I do it and what is the point? I think I still have some days filmed which include some hat throws haha. Good to see you and hope all is well. G
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire This is a very late reply, sorry, I was gonna reply when I had time to do it proper and then the days went by..- But it is awsome to hear you actually found a gold coin there, what is it now? 9? 10? Pure magic! Cant wait to watch it! Still waiting for the gold ring? I invited a friend from USA to detect with me for the first time, and he actually found a gold ring on a field I had been detecting for 7 years, what a guest star lol. It will be returned to the farmer as it is his great grandmothers ring. The area he found the ring is usually unreacable cause of electric lawn mower interference. It could have been you mate hehe. Anyway, about the hat throwing, its your signature!! Just admit it, you have become to lazy to go back to get it hehe ;) Ok, im off to see another video of yours now, catch ya
@@blue2isle hi mate, yes upto 8 gold coins, I can't grumble at that can I 🤣 Wow, that's a classic story in this hobby isn't it, you graft a field for years, bring a randomer and they go n do that !! Haha I have to fetch my camera enough times as it is. But maybe a hat throw will make an appearance here and there
Hi mate, thank you so much for such wonderful comments. Its comments like this that help to keep me inspired and motivated to work as hard as I do on the content I upload. I can't even begin to tell you how much hard work this video was. But as long as I enjoy doing it, I will keep on bringing you these projects. Thanks again and I hope to see you on the next episode
The large round item looks like the workings of a watch/clock mechanism. Love the coin weight. Great collection of finds bud. Really good comparison between the 11''' and 13 '' coils. I was surprised that the air depth test came out almost the same, but like you said, more coverage with the 13''. Good luck with it. It will be interesting to see how it fairs over time. All the best buddy and HH.
Hi mate, you are bang on the money with the ID thank you. I was a little surprised at the air test results, I think there is definitely a slight gain in depth, but it is all about the coverage. I think with detailed tests and using tape measures and other targets I could have perhaps shown a better improvement of depth, but I was in a rush as I had to go to work. As always thanks so much for tuning in and supporting what I do, catch ya on the next episode
Hello and Greetings to you in wonderful Italy. The 13 inch coil is great, I would have thought the 9 inch coil was more suited to woodland. The 13 inch excels on big open pasture fields. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video and I very much hope to see you on my next metal detecting adventure. Gareth
Some great finds. I love the stone field I don't know why I think it's because I think there's alot of old things to be found. Well done for the silver coin. And that James 1 coin weight was brilliant. I remember texting you when you found that, absolute stunning find. Definitely will go in your display cabinet won't it. Hope you and the family are well. Keep it up.
Hey Sam, good to hear from you, sorry for the slow reply, it takes me an age to reply to comments. This is a great area with some very old history, got to be some cool stuff waiting for me in the ground. Heartbreaking about the coin weight hitting it with my spade, but these things happen in this hobby. Hope you and the Miles clan are well, catch you on the next episode buddy
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yes a lovely piece of history you have that's the main thing. Definitely should be something great round there. Miles clan are doing well not to much going on really just waiting for the Christmas break to start really 🤣
Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video. Everything you saw in this video was captured in 4K on a Samsung S22 smart phone and DJI Mini 3 Pro drone 😁 Hope this helps. Thanks again
Hello & Greetings, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video, I really appreciate it. Yes it was a fabulous find and one of my best finds of 2022, absolutely heartbreaking that I hit it with my spade, but like you say, it happens. I hope over time the fresh scrape will fade. Thanks again for tuning in and supporting my channel, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Gareth
Just a quick point, you put the first spoon at the closest point of the coin to the coil but the second one at the back edge, so an extra couple of centimetres difference I reckon.
Hi mate, I must admit I was in a rush at the time I filmed that part as I was just about to head to work. I was a bit surprised at how even they were, but yes I reckon if I was to have been a bit more accurate then we be looking at potentially an inch. Thanks so much for tuning in and leaving me a comment. I hope to catch you on my next metal detecting episode
Hello, thank you so much for the very kind compliments and thanks for coming along and taking the time to watch this video. I try to make and upload the best quality content my kit is capable of. I very much hope to see you again on one of my many other metal detecting videos. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire It was not just a compliment but a fact ! Pleasure to watch , i will be back ✌🏽 Thanks for sharing this great video en thanks for the feedback. HH👈🏾
Excellent video as always and lovely coin weight and early milled silver. I am not surprised about the relatively small increase in depth because they have made the coil oval, now if they had kept the coil round at 13" then you would expect to get approx 20mm - 1" depth increase, about double what you seem to be achieving. That is just down to the physics of electromagnetic fields and how they penetrate the ground in a cone shape, and I have found this to be true with previous detectors and coil shapes over the years. So the main benefit really with the 13" coil is the increase in ground coverage which will make quite a difference to folk that walk and swing very quickly, but If you tend to use a slower sweep speed and walking speed, then the benefits of the coil are negligible because you will not miss targets anyway because of your overlapping sweeps.
Thank you for the kind words. The coin weight was a really nice old find, gutted I clipped it with my spade while trying to retrieve it from the rocks. I am definitely a fast paced detectorist, I know I walk to fast and swing too fast, but that is how I do it and that is how I will always do it - unless for some reason I need to really search and grid an area. I have always been a fan of bigger coils, but I think the 11 inch coil is pretty much perfect for any machine, a great all rounder size. Thanks as always for tuning in and leaving your feedback, I hope to see you on the next episode
Hi mate, yes it was inevitable, lets hope its the first of many and that there is indeed a BIG gold on there somewhere. Thanks as always for coming along and supporting what I do. Looking forward to some cold weather metal detecting this weekend. Have a gooden dude
Good comparison between the two coils Gareth, well done on the finds especially the coin weight well saved. The token was also a nice find, and well done on the Silver coin. Until the next one take care.
Ayup John, I am very behind on replying to comments at the moment, taken me 6 days to get to this apologies. The coin weight was brilliant, but very sad for me to of hit it with my spade. I seen you have commented on a bunch of my other videos this morning, must of had a mini binge? I hope you are doing well and thanks for supporting my channel through 2022 and I hope to see you in 2023. Cheers John
Thanks mate, the coin weight was simply stunning, I'm hoping the ding I made with my spade will fade over time. What an idiot hey, but that ground was horrific digging on that particular spot, so rocky!! Thanks again for tuning in and supporting my channel
Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leaving a nice comment. The coin weight was potentially one of my best finds of 2022, I was absolutely heartbroken I clipped it with my spade. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Good luck for 2023. Gareth
Great comparison Gareth. Pros and Cons as you say. It wouldn't make me want to buy it for extra depth but maybe for the extra ground coverage if I had plenty of land and time perhaps. Well done on that cracking coin weight 😀
Hi Del, thanks for tuning in and leaving your feedback. Yes definitely pro's and con's. One big benefit that I should of mentioned is with wireless XP machines its extremely beneficial to have a spare coil for when your main coil runs out of juice in the field. This has happened to me many times over the years, but I now have 2 coils with the Deus 2 along with 2 coils for the ORX. Cheers dude
Morning Len thanks so much for taking the time to watch this video and for leaving your feedback. The coin weight was such a great find and I was mortified I hit it with my spade. Have a great day and I hope to see you on my next metal detecting adventure
Great to see you out with the 13"... think I might have to get one. Lovely coin weight mate, shame about the damage.. I hope there's a gold hammered waiting for you close by. Well done on your first silver out of that field, and it was in a coin spill!! Nice. 😀
Hi mate, yeah I've done 2 full days with the 13 inch coil and both days I've found silver with it, so great start!! Would be epic if there's a gold hammered somewhere close by, you never know!! Thanks as always for tuning in, catch ya on the next episode
@The Dukes Of Derbyshire 2 silvers in 2 hunts is a great start. As you said, over time that 18.18% increase in coil size has got to make a difference. So much more land coverage 😀👍
Loved the opening credits, your best so far. Very interesting comparison but it looks apart from the area covered on the swing there isn't a lot of difference so it would hard to justify the price tag just for that
Hi Paul, it is a hefty pricetag I must admit for not a lot of gains. I think the 11 inch coil is the perfect size for this machine. But I guess over several months or a year, even a couple of years you are 100% going to find more signals using a bigger coil - Especially on nice big flat fields. There is another big benefit to having a 2nd coil though for when the battery goes flat in the coil you are using, which has happened to me twice with this machine.
Hi Davis and Neil, thanks guys for the identification of the unknown item. I was sure it was some sort of padlock. I really do appreciate you both taking the time to watch this video and offer your assistance. I hope to see you both on my next metal detecting adventure. Gareth

Hi Troy, after the success of my last comparison video, I thought I would come up with this. However its not doing anywhere near as well. RUclips is incredibly difficult haha. Thank you mate, that is some serious high level compliments! Are you watching in 4K? I still don't even know what my videos look like in 4K as I don't have a 4K player or broadband capable of streaming it ( I live in the dark ages)
my experience is there isent much difference between the 11" and the 11x13" depthwise , maby 1-2 inches , seperation isent as good as the 9" and pretty equal to the 11" . but the major thing the footpath . if someone told you , hey , use this and you will cover 18-20% more ground . thats a nobrainer in my opinion . raise you chance to find stuff by 20% is worth it every day all year long
Hi mate, totally agree with your comments. The 13 inch is suited to big flat fields with very short grass. I think the 11 inch is a really goo 'all rounder' and the 9 inch suited to heavily trash sites such as parks. All amazing coils and great products though. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and for leaving your feedback. I hope to see you again on one of my many other metal detecting videos. Gareth
The 9 “ has all the advantages over either the 11 and the 13 “ as well except for coverage . I still do not fully understand why one would by a deus that is light as a feather and then put a fairly heavy coil on it .. that way the concept of the deus is gone as far as i concern.. just like having a ctx and putting a 6” coil on it …
A pity coin weight got damaged 😭 Lovely find thankey for test. Very pedagogical in depth test. Don't think a much larger coil than 13 would be handy. 😜🔝❤️
Hello Toni, yes the coin weight is stunning, absolutely mortified that I hit it with my spade. It was insanely difficult removing it form the hard rocky ground at this particular location. The 13 inch coil works great and I can see that over time, finds rate will definitely increase. It happened with my ORX when I went from 9 inch to 13 inch!! Just proves my theory that you not only gain more coverage but can gain a Little depth on the larger items but lose out on the smaller targets 9"and 11" weed out the smaller cut quarters etc ,as ever cracking video 👍💥
Hi Karl, if I was been scientific I would of got the tape measure out for the air test and also used a tiny target. But I was in a rush to get to work when I filmed that part. Hi there, thanks so much for the channel visit and for taking time out your day to watch my video. On the Deus 2 metal detector I use Sensi FT. I choose this program because it gives me a tonne of information about what's happening in the ground, I can hear and feel everything I need to know about each target, which helps me determine whether to dig or not. Hi there, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. That is something that would interest me too, but unfortunately I do not own the 9 inch coil. They are very expensive and I don't think my missus would be too chuffed if I went and bought yet another metal detector accessory haha. Thanks again for coming along and I hope to see you again. Gareth
@@SKYEPUSS0WNER I would definitely stick with your 9 inch coil, those things are super lightweight. I have spent 2 full days swinging the 13 inch coil on rigged hillside and its no problem for me. But I am quite a big guy and spent many years swinging a Garrett AT Pro - which is one of the heavier machines out there
Hello, thanks for coming along to my channel and watching this video. You would yes, BUT, the 9 inch coil would be much more suitable for woodland. A smaller, lighter and more nimble coil would be better for you in this case. I have 1 woodland permission, the ground was really uneven, overgrown, rocks and branches everywhere, the 9 inch coil got into all the hard to reach places. I would have struggled with the 13 inch. Hope this helps. Gareth
@@razer192 personally I think the 11 inch coil is the perfect 'all rounder' for the XP Deus 2. I have the 13 inch coil too, but I rarely use it as lots of my permissions are rugged hillsides and steep slopes, where a much lighter coil is necessary. I have a 9 inch coil on my XP ORX, its tiny and extremely light, awesome for woodland, but a bit too small for fields
Great vid mate ,reckon coin weight is a James 1 rose ryal value 32 shillings .fantastic swag indicator from bizzo period .I,m afraid the jury's still out on big coils for Me anyway .some very in interesting finds .
Certainly is, I did a full identification and showed the coin at the end in the roundup. Heading back to that place to find the pouch full of golld Ryals to go with it 🤣
Hi mate, thanks very much for taking the time to watch this video. I'm not very prolific at under water metal detecting, but I would imagine the 9 inch is most suitable. Bigger the coil then the harder it will be to swing through the water. So I'd stick with the 9. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Gareth

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire thats amazing i notitec your channel i while ago while i was looking for deus 2 videos i only metal detect underwater and make my living out of it
If I start doing this I'll probably get a hand trowel as well to reduce risk of damage However, the Deus II is a rather steep cost for a beginner; what would you recommend for an intermediate user? (I know I'm a beginner, but I can afford to 'invest' more in case I enjoy it :D )
Hello and good day to you. I used to have a hand trowel but I foudn I rarely used it and it was not necessary for me to carry it around all day - I carry enough kit as it is with all my filming equipment, flask and food etc. As a beginner i would be looking at either the Nokta Makro Simplex or Minelab Vanquish, maybe a Garrett Ace 250 if your budget is very small. Hi mate, the coin weight was brilliant, but absolutely mortified that I hit it with my spade. I am a big fan of big coil. Having said that, at the weekend I went back to the 11 inch cuz of the snow and ice and found an early Victorian silver coin spill with 5 silver coins in it. Was amazing! coin weight is unbelievable, it's annoying when finds get clipped by the spade but look at it this way, if you hadn't of found it it would remain in the ground forever never to be seen by human eyes 👌

Cracking review. I have been holding off buying the Deus 11, waiting for the 13 inch coil to come out. That land does look a bit "middle of nowhere" though :o).....Merry Christmas.
Hello & Greetings, thanks for tuning in. Deus 2 is a really good machine and the 13 inch coil is awesome! Do I prefer it to the 11 inch though?! I'm not so sure yet. Correct, I ID'd the coin weight at the end of the video in the roundup. The coin weight was for a Rose Ryal, an incredibly rare and valuable coin
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Sorry, I commented too early. I used to have the old 13"coil, but found it a bit cumbersome. I do like the thought of covering more ground with the swing though...atb
@@milsub59 I had the same coil on my XP ORX and I too found it a little bottom heavy and cumbersome as you say. But that extra ground coverage on every swing gives you that extra chance of hitting a signal you might otherwise have missed
Well done Gareth mate 👍 that coin weight and all those Georgian coins and finally a Silver very cool. Yeah I have 6" and 11" and 15" coils for my Nox I use all three depending on where I am. Great video thanks mate.✌️👍🇦🇺🦘
Hey there Allan, cheers buddy, the coin weight was amazing but absolutely gutted I hit it with my spade. But this is a part of the hobby unfortunately. I'm surprised an Equinox can take a 15 inch coil without falling to bits haha. Hope the weather is nice down there, its going to be a freezing week ahead here. I will be metal detecting on Saturday and Sunday this weekend in -3 degrees temperatures wooo
Hey there Tim, I used the 13 inch on my ORX for several years. I agree it was a little bottom heavy. Feels a bit more balanced on the Deus 2. I think the 11 inch coil though it the perfect size. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel. i hope to see you on the next episode

Wawww what a stunning find that coin weight, awesome drone, great job pal
Hey buddy, cheers, yeah the coin weight really is a thing of beauty, absolutely gutted I clipped it with my spade. Hopefully over time that mark will fade. Thanks as always for taking the time to watch and for supporting my channel and what I do. Catch you on the next episode. Gareth
That scenery is so fabulous! And the coin weight......never heard of that coin. Fantastic.

As always thanks so much for tuning in and supporting what I do, catch ya on the next episode
, I also use the 13 'plate in the woods, in my opinion it is more sensitive and deeper.
I would say excellent, since I made good finds.

Just a quick point, you put the first spoon at the closest point of the coin to the coil but the second one at the back edge, so an extra couple of centimetres difference I reckon.

@@masitaatisam3679 I look forward to it, I have almost 250 videos on my channel now 😁
Excellent video as always and lovely coin weight and early milled silver.

@TheDukesOfDerbyshire sometimes you just can't help it mate I'm sure it will fade.
Enjoyable watching as always and Lovely find with the coin weight 🎉
Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leaving a nice comment. The coin weight was potentially one of my best finds of 2022, I was absolutely heartbroken I clipped it with my spade. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Good luck for 2023. Gareth

@@Windsurfingaddict you are very welcome. I always have time for my viewers 😁😁😁
Cheers dude
Very fair test with the coils great find with the coin weight. Len
Yeah I'd expect 18.18% more finds 😁😁😁
That unidentified find was a watch movement 😊
Yep that was my thought as well.
Hi Davis and Neil, thanks guys for the identification of the unknown item. I was sure it was some sort of padlock. I really do appreciate you both taking the time to watch this video and offer your assistance. I hope to see you both on my next metal detecting adventure. Gareth

Hi Gareth hope you are well mate 👍🏻,excellent video and such bloody beautiful scenery!! I’m thinking of saving for a 15 inch coil for my Nox 800 as I can walk for miles on my permissions and I think it will increase my finds ,I often find tokens in my area promoting Bath and Bristol commodities and they are great to find. Keep up the great work buddy and promoting our wonderful hobby, where else would you rather be 😁as always take care and all the best from Somerset 💯👏🏻
Hi Simon, as always I totally look forward to your comments, sorry it has taken me several days to reply. Its taking me ages to get through them all at the moment. As you know I am a big lover of the outdoors and nice scenery etc, in particular tree's and waterways - Both of which are none existent at this permission, probably because it is high up in the Peak District. But this place still has fascinating characteristics and is an amazing place to be. 15 inch coil on a Nox sounds like a recipe for a broken metal detector haha. Where else would you rather be indeed buddy, catch you on the next episode (which I hope to complete tonight)
Great vid Gareth - wonderful scenery and drone shots ! Really good finds and excellent comparison of the two coils. Summat fer everyone!
Hi Troy, after the success of my last comparison video, I thought I would come up with this. However its not doing anywhere near as well. RUclips is incredibly difficult haha. @@historydeantected I get all my inspiration from RUclips too mate, its wjere we all learn
my experience is there isent much difference between the 11" and the 11x13" depthwise , maby 1-2 inches , seperation isent as good as the 9" and pretty equal to the 11" . but the major thing the footpath . if someone told you , hey , use this and you will cover 18-20% more ground . thats a nobrainer in my opinion . raise you chance to find stuff by 20% is worth it every day all year long
Hi mate, totally agree with your comments.
I still do not fully understand why one would by a deus that is light as a feather and then put a fairly heavy coil on it .. that way the concept of the deus is gone as far as i concern.. just like having a ctx and putting a 6” coil on it …
A pity coin weight got damaged 😭
Lovely find thankey for test.
Very pedagogical in depth test.
Don't think a much larger coil than
13 would be handy.
As always, thanks so much for tuning in and leaving me a comment, I hope to see you on the next episode

It is so difficult for me to find the required time each week to put together my content. In 7 years metal detecting I have never found a cut quarter or even a cut half. But then I only metal detect on undisturbed pasture fields. Thanks as always for tuning in and supporting my channel

What program are you using there?
Hi there, thanks so much for the channel visit and for taking time out your day to watch my video. On the Deus 2 metal detector I use Sensi FT. I choose this program because it gives me a tonne of information about what's happening in the ground, I can hear and feel everything I need to know about each target, which helps me determine whether to dig or not. The signal tells me the depth, the size of target, shape of target and also composition. Hope this helps, and hope to see you again on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos. Gareth

Hi there, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. That is something that would interest me too, but unfortunately I do not own the 9 inch coil. What about the weight of bigger coil?
Hello, I talked about the weight of both coils in the opening minutes of this video. The 13 inch coil is 82 grams heavier than the 11 inch coil
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Was thinking more of full day use say 6-7 hours at our age 74 , quite happy with the smaller coil!
@@SKYEPUSS0WNER I would definitely stick with your 9 inch coil, those things are super lightweight. I have spent 2 full days swinging the 13 inch coil on rigged hillside and its no problem for me. But I am quite a big guy and spent many years swinging a Garrett AT Pro - which is one of the heavier machines out there
Would i get away with the 13" coil in the woods?
Hello, thanks for coming along to my channel and watching this video. You would yes, BUT, the 9 inch coil would be much more suitable for woodland. A smaller, lighter and more nimble coil would be better for you in this case. I have 1 woodland permission, the ground was really uneven, overgrown, rocks and branches everywhere, the 9 inch coil got into all the hard to reach places. I would have struggled with the 13 inch. Hope this helps. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Cheers for getting back. I can only afford the machine with one coil ATM what size would you go with ?
Heading back to that place to find the pouch full of golld Ryals to go with it 🤣
I hope that you do I found one thats why I thought I might know .unfortunately mine was alone and not in as good nick as yours .good sign though .
which coil should i use for underwater 9 or above ? im currently using 9 inches should i upgrade to bigger one ?
Hi mate, thanks very much for taking the time to watch this video. I'm not very prolific at under water metal detecting, but I would imagine the 9 inch is most suitable. Bigger the coil then the harder it will be to swing through the water. So I'd stick with the 9. Hope this helps. Thanks again. Gareth

However, the Deus II is a rather steep cost for a beginner; what would you recommend for an intermediate user? (I know I'm a beginner, but I can afford to 'invest' more in case I enjoy it :D )
Hello and good day to you. I used to have a hand trowel but I foudn I rarely used it and it was not necessary for me to carry it around all day - I carry enough kit as it is with all my filming equipment, flask and food etc. As a beginner i would be looking at either the Nokta Makro Simplex or Minelab Vanquish, maybe a Garrett Ace 250 if your budget is very small.
