This video was the one that made me subscribe. You really gave details of the functionality within the motion program. As someone with a digital media background who needs a refresher, this video was very helpful to me.
Many thanks for your excellent tutorial: Clear and to the point and very easy to follow. I will get Motion 5 and use it in my next video. Apple should be paying you. Kind regards from England UK.
Glad it was helpful! I started making these because I didn't see a lot of lessons on Motion, and I couldn't afford the paid lessons. Its a fantastic program for the price.
I think I found my personal teacher to learn Apple Motion today. Thanks for your work, many people would have been making viewers pay to have access to their knowledge. You rock !
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words. Incidentally this is the exact reason why I started this channel. To teach people the stuff I wish I learned. For Free. I work as a television motion graphics artist and producer in Wisconsin- when I went to school for this stuff we didn't learn anything close to what I do on a day to day basis. It was the biggest financial and career mistake of my life. So I decided to teach the basics of all the programs I use so other people can learn for free. Stanislaw, I cannot thank you enough for these clear and concise instructional videos. So generous of you to take the time to teach us. Thank you so much.

Man I just love your videos. This just gets me from knowing absolutely nothing about Motion to being able to actually make something with it. Wonderful!
Man I've learned so much in about six hours of practice. I applied for a job as a videographer at a church and they use this a lot. I have a lot of experience with both live video production and studio production but no graphics. This helps a lot thank you!
Thank you very much for all the great videos on apple motion. This is very helpful, as your channel is basically the only one that covers apple motion in a very good way.
Hey, this is really great! You teach very clearly and obviously know what you're talking about. Thanks so much for doing these! I'm going to watch them all
Brilliant tutorials. I am complete neophyte in Motion. I dived in and used it for about 2 hours using only the built in Help to get some video on a timeline. Your tutorials and clear instructions and examples are very encouraging, what looks like a daunting app is turning out to be a well organized set of panels to get stuff done. I am really excited. Watched your 1st tutorial and am almost done this one. I am blown away by Motion's capabilities and I know that I peeking through a slightly ajar window at this early stage. I am so grateful for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and the time you took to put this together. Thank you very much!

This is great stuff! Crazy how easy it is to create professional looking animations with just some quick keyframes (in Motion specifically, Hitfilm was never this easy)!
Make sure you check out behaviors and then publishing templates. Everything you make in Motion you can directly access via final cut, means you can make your own custom titles, animations and even custom effects. Thanks for checking out the lessons.
Hey thats really great! I recommend checking out behaviors in some of the further lessons as they are way more powerful (and easier!) Thanks for watching. -Stanislaw
I am switching from PremierPro to FCP (hobby), I am on class #2 intending to follow the whole course. Thank you so much for being such good instructor. Next I would love to learn how to integrate FCP with Motion, since I am a fan of After Effect but hate to subscribe to Adobe.
Thanks for checking it out. Keyframes are so crucial, we wouldn’t have a lot without them! When you are ready, check out the 12 principles of animation - ruclips.net/video/yiGY0qiy8fY/видео.html as that video gets into the next level of keyframes: interpolations.

+Michal Polkowski thanks. I'm actually a certified adobe instructor too. Spent the last 5 years traveling the US teaching fortune 500s in premiere and Ae. I have a bunch of those lessons too.
I'm a long time After Effects pro user and I'm using your tuts to familiarize myself with Motion as it's easier to integrate with FCPX than AE is. Thanks for providing these tuts to the universe free of charge. My question is....my preference would be to reveal the text danglers on the top text line and not have them cut off by the mask. What would be the best way to create a similar reveal, stopping at the same Y position, yet not cutting off the danglers of the g and y?

Great tutorial, i'm new to Apple Motion and i'm looking for the best way to achieve a project that i have in mind. So what i want to do is re-create part of the title sequence of the "poriot". Do you have a tutorial on how to do this or some advice on how to achieve this?
Really you just need to select keyframes- the record button is an "automatic keyframe" feature that will automatically make keyframes as you change parameters and in my personal experience, gets in the way more than it helps- but if it works for other people- go for it. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.

this drove me nuts. There is another clarification that is very important. You cannot apply masks to a text layer. You must apply it to the group.

ruclips.net/video/KBZTWXEkFu8/видео.html
Something like this? Is it even possible on this program ?
Leonard- Its totally possible.
In fact, to make a scene like that try the following:
In generators: place a Grid generator, turn off the BG opacity, and turn on the Graph Paper lines checkbox.
change the color and make it a 3D layer, and rotate the grid layer in 3D space.
Then to animate it, open the grid back up- and Animate the Offset on the grid.
Add blurs and glows till it looks like Rad Racer. :)
AV-Ultra you’re amazing! Thank you!
Curious, why does the first mask show "animating keyframes," but not "apple motion," since apple motion is being animated from within the first mask?
You can set specific image masks to only affect certain layers in Certain ways. For more info check out my lessons specifically on image masks.

Hey thanks for the comment. Hope you make something awesome.
Why not just do all of this in Final Cut Pro? Am I missing something or can this all be done there?
You do t have the animation graph in fcpx- which makes a massive difference.
Also want to point out- you technically CAN- so I don’t want to dissuade you. But it’s a lot harder.
AV-Ultra thank you. Just learning both programs so trying to figure out which is best for what application.
you bring up a great point- I should do a video on "Do you need Motion"
Layout the ket points of them, and why you may or may not need it at all.
Thanks for the inspiration.
We can do this in FCPX, whats the difference by doing it here?
Diego-
Editing keyframes in fcpx is not as easy as it is in motion. In addition to adding parameters to keyframes which isn’t even possible in fcpx, the graph editor is key to finessing animations.
Thanks for the question.
