Super cute shirts always!! I'm waiting for my EP 2720. I've been wondering if I could bleach over subbing and your video showed me how perfect would still turn out. I'm so glad I found you!! Thank you!
You are welcome! I have found my best results is waiting at least 24 hours before I go outside and bleach over the sublimation image. The bleach shouldn’t fade the image but I feel like I’ve had one or two shirts that have come out very faded. The rest have all been just fine. The only thing I can think of is that I bleached them the same day as pressing them.

I use the Clorox Bleach and I rarely dilute. Check out one of my other videos where I go into a little further detail about bleach. ruclips.net/video/RARgePiE5Fk/видео.html
Can you use just a regular printer/printer paper or does it have to be a “sublimation printer” or inkjet printer with a special kind of paper? Just getting started, loving your videos!! Also can you use the same image over and over or only once?
Both of my printers are regular inkjet printers that I put sublimation ink into. You cannot use regular ink as it will not sublimate. I usually do. Sometimes I do not record that part just to keep my tutorials as short as I can. Sometimes on the darker shirts I wont use it in-between because I have noticed it doesn't bleed through on the dark colors.
after seeing this, I have to ask .. I've seen so many videos that say you can't sublimate on dark colors, can you sublimate on dark and then bleach? will it show up?
Did you watch the whole tutorial? I did sublimate on a few darker colors such as purple and navy and was able to bleach. If your meaning dark as in black, there is only one I have found that will bleach which is a Gilden 67000 in Pitch Black Mist. However, the poly count is low so it won’t sublimate as well as the others.
could you clarify something for me. I did find the shirts you were talking about. actually found some at hobby lobby to experiment with but the marbling? is that where you bunched up your shirt and sprayed it with bleach? how long did you leave the bleach on? and I can sublimate a color image onto a darker shirt and after bleaching - it will lighten up? what is the darkest shirt you've done the sublimate first - bleach later technique? I did find the shirts at Hobby Lobby to run a bit small. I typically wear a 12-14 but got an XL and that fits fine. the shirt from HL was called Next Level
Yes, when I do the marble effect I bunch it up and mist it, then I flip it over and do the same thing right away. I then lay the shirt flat and put cardboard in between so that it won’t bleed through and I keep flipping it until it is the desired white that I want it. It doesn’t matter the color of shirt, as long as it bleaches to white you can sub first.
Hi Emma I'm a new Sub ☺️ I have enjoyed watching many of your videos. Thank you so much for all the information you provide. I'm new to sublimation & bleaching, how long after bleaching a shirt should I wait to rinse or wash before sublimating
I bleached a black shirt 65/35 and rinsed it after 25 min but the main bleached area I needed for sublimation turned brownish and the white washed away😔 I also noticed that the shirt kinda thinned out. Please Help 🙏 😆
You leave the bleach on until you reach the desired effect. There is no set time, it completely depends on the elements. For example, sometime shirts take me 20 min because it’s super hot and I have direct sunlight. Other days, it may take 60 minutes because it’s cooler and cloudy. Also not all colors bleach white. Some will bleach different colors. Make sure you use the Gilden 64000 in the Heather colors.
It is necessary. I do a lot of that off camera to speed up the video when it gets too long. I'll be honest though, I have forgotten at times and the shirts were fine.
You didn't add a shirt jig to shirt or sleeve when pressing, is that because the shirt is cotton? Also, can I add bleach at whatever time or do I have to spray right after press? I have some dark shirts I pressed on and forgot sublimation ink doesn't show on dark but I've had them sitting for a couple months.
I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by a shirt jig? This shirt is not 100% cotton, I believe it was 50% cotton, 50% poly. Yes you can bleach after you press sublimation, just wait about 24 hrs before you bleach. I’ve only ever used Dawn dish soap, but I’m sure you could use a generic brand liquid soap.
@@EmmasCottage the jig is what you put in between the shirt so the ink doesn't seep through to the other side of the shirt. I sublimated and then bleached and it didn't work 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ my shirt was dark (black) also does that matter?
@@sweetnegotium865 oh, I use cardboard when I bleach and butcher paper when I sublimate. Not all shirts bleach, the black shirt you used probably doesn’t bleach. It is very hard to find black shirts that do bleach.
bleaching over your image didn't ruin the image? Also how do you get the bleach to turn completely. I have a shirt I did on the heather navy and it stayed pink in some places. Does that mean i didn't use info bleach or didn't leave it out long enough?
Bleaching afterwords doesn’t harm the sublimation ink. I’ve done it many times. It sounds like you didn’t leave the bleach on long enough or didn’t saturate that area enough.
I have some that are still in great condition that I bleached this spring. It all depends on your Poly/cotton count. the higher the cotton the thinner your shirt will become. My shirts are 65% poly and 35% cotton so they work really well.
I didn't use a tank top in this tutorial, do you mean what t-shirt? I use the Gilden 64000 in Heather colors for most of my t-shirts. My favorite woman's tanks are the DISTRICT Ladies Perfect Tri Racerback Tanks.
you said at the start that you are using 100% cotton shirts from Jiffy? i looked up the number and it said 100% cotton. for subbing don't you have to have a certain % of poly? but you do need some cotton in order for the bleaching to work?
This time was the longest I’ve left it on, about 45 minutes. I did spray peroxide on the ones that processed first and placed them in the shade while the others finished processing. How high is your cotton count on the shirts that got holes?
@@RosarioGarcia-uz7zd if you are using HTV then you can apply that to Cotton any color. If you are applying a sublimation image then it will need to be 65% or higher polyester.
@@EmmasCottage thank you for all your help and but am sorry for this question but what is HTV and sublimation? I have a circut on the way and I want to be ready to use it
@@RosarioGarcia-uz7zd HTV is heat transfer vinyl, you cut this material with your Cricut, then weed it and press it on to a shirt with your heat press. Sublimation is what I use for the majority of my images you see on my shirts. They are printed with a special printer, with special ink, with special paper then pressed onto the shirt with a heat press.

@@EmmasCottage thank you so much
Lint rolling and pre pressing not necessary?
It is necessary. I do a lot of that off camera to speed up the video when it gets too long. I'll be honest though, I have forgotten at times and the shirts were fine.
You didn't add a shirt jig to shirt or sleeve when pressing, is that because the shirt is cotton? Also, can I add bleach at whatever time or do I have to spray right after press? I have some dark shirts I pressed on and forgot sublimation ink doesn't show on dark but I've had them sitting for a couple months.
Does it have to be dawn dish soap?
Is the Sanderson sister squad on your etsy
I don’t think I have that one up yet. I have a few I’ll be listing this weekend.
@@EmmasCottage okay I will keep a look out I really love the Sanderson sisters
@@faydrabrown4332 I just added it for you! :) Hopefully, I have your size. Orange has been hard to get my hands on!
Are you using straight bleach when you are painting it on?
Yes. You can dilute but I do not.
bleaching over your image didn't ruin the image? Also how do you get the bleach to turn completely. I have a shirt I did on the heather navy and it stayed pink in some places. Does that mean i didn't use info bleach or didn't leave it out long enough?
Bleaching afterwords doesn’t harm the sublimation ink. I’ve done it many times. It sounds like you didn’t leave the bleach on long enough or didn’t saturate that area enough.
@@EmmasCottage thank you so much for getting back with me. I'm nervous about trying it again.
How long does the bleached shirt last? I’m going to try my own but I’ve bleached shirts before and the fabric wears
I have some that are still in great condition that I bleached this spring. It all depends on your Poly/cotton count. the higher the cotton the thinner your shirt will become. My shirts are 65% poly and 35% cotton so they work really well.
what tank top u using
I didn't use a tank top in this tutorial, do you mean what t-shirt? I use the Gilden 64000 in Heather colors for most of my t-shirts. My favorite woman's tanks are the DISTRICT Ladies Perfect Tri Racerback Tanks.
What is the font name of, I put a spell of you ?
I do not know. I purchased that image, I did not create it.
where did you get your heat press?
Mycraftsource.com they are currently out of stock but just keep watching, they get them in stock and sell out by the end of the day.
you said at the start that you are using 100% cotton shirts from Jiffy? i looked up the number and it said 100% cotton. for subbing don't you have to have a certain % of poly? but you do need some cotton in order for the bleaching to work?
Maybe I mistakenly said that? Check out 3:30 I explain the shirts here.
Are you using liquid bleach or a gel?
Liquid Bleach
How do we find you on Etsy?
My link is located on the main page of my RUclips channel. My shop is called EmmasCottageWA
How long do you leave the bleach on? For some reason every time I try to bleach my t shirts end up with a hole in the fabric?
This time was the longest I’ve left it on, about 45 minutes. I did spray peroxide on the ones that processed first and placed them in the shade while the others finished processing. How high is your cotton count on the shirts that got holes?
where do you buy your shirts ?
Mostly from clothingshoponline.com and jiffyshirts.com
@@EmmasCottage thank you so much if I want to bleach a shirt and add a design from a cricut do I buy it 65% polyester ?
Do you use 100% bleach?
Yes!
By the way I have the 15000 printer and I love it 🥰
I cannot wait to get mine!
Wait so you bleached it after you pressed it sorry I skipped ahead
Yes, in this video I sublimated first then bleached vs. bleached then sublimate. I think this is my new favorite method.
