The Origianal Cane Corso is a dog with a rich history and somewhat dim future. Jimmy Monugian Jr is not one who believes that dark prognosis. Jimmy and his mentor Mike Sottile Jr. are fighting to bring the true history and true genetics of a legendary dog, the Italian Mastiff.
Italian Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, Cane Corso, and Cane De Presa are names given to the farm dogs of Italy. These large mastiff dogs trace their history back to ancient Rome. These dogs were an all around utility dog in Italy. They were used as farm dogs, hunting dogs, and guard dogs. Before the kennel clubs this breed went by various names, Cane Corso, Cane De Presa, and Neapolitan Mastiff.
I love how he says: "I just wanted a dog", seems like a simple sentance but every dogperson knows what he is talking about
Yeah Bee lol exactly
It means you need a friend.and dogs are mans best friends 🐶🐶🐶 i love dogs roooofff
Rusty Wallace good buddies!
ah no, i have two dogs and i have grown up having dogs around since childhood. So no, hes not saying something profound. Hes literally saying that he wanted a dog. Stop dramatizing it with overthinking.
Yep so true so profound.
I had a Cane Corso for almost 9 years and I gotta tell ya he was the most loving dog I think I’ve ever had. He looked a lot like the ones you have. He grew to be 165 pounds. Sadly he died from dilated cardiomyopathy last week and it was so heartbreaking
Spiritual healing can help heal your trauma
So very sorry 💔 it’s an awful, intense pain when you lose your best friend and loyal companion for so many years. I have and am partial to Cane’s also and believe they love you more than any other breed 🖤
RIP
Totally agree when he says he sees a boxer in the new "American" cane corso. It's a Shame the breed was down sized and is a lot lighter now. Old type Cane corso/ working neo are the best.
But at the same time the old Boxer looks like a Corso and old Corso used to be called The Boxing Dog. But there is definitely some fuckery going on with the Breed especially when talking show quality and North American standard.
Um boxer was added to imports...
The breed wasn't downsized... it was upsized. The European cane corsos are lighter leaner faster and agile at around 135 which is still huge. But when they were imported here and bred which larger dogs, they became heavier bulkier slower. The original Italian mastiff is a perfect blend of size agility speed and power
@@tomlib6794 it depends with the two trends the light versions are mixed with the boxer they have smaller crushed faces with a weird look in their eyes, they don't look as a Cane Corso at all, their body is skinny half Stéphanie between a Boxer and a Corso so quite lighter and quite underpowered in the bite section they are the worst, the second trend is to mix it with the Neopolitan Mastiff "Matin Napolitain " in french in this case you are adding weight to it and it becomes a fairly heavier dog, with more skin and more antique Italian style Mastiff look in it, but it will lack endurance, and raw power explosiveness. The secret with the true Cane Corso is that he can eat the same amount of food as far more heavier dogs but being lighter because he's a super active dog he got a speedy metabolism and his psyche is linked to it. When he can't burn those calories he become destructive.
@@descendancedenoefilsdadam1028 mine didn't look like a boxer at all. If anything he had a longer snout. Eyes didn't look like a boxer either. Also didn't have all the folds of a neopolitan. He had a large bear like head, huge jaws, large upper body, and I never overfed him. He stayed lean throughout his life, that's probably why he lived so long. I have pictures of him but I can't post them here
My mate has an original Cane Corso from Italy (Florence). He met a breeder on internet and went to the place. After few months of researching he decided to do. He lives alone and it's really more like a neopolitan. Much more broader, heavier, muscular and still very fast. His name is Julius Cesar, weighs 58 kg, height, 70 cm. He is the highest of the nest, but not the heaviest. For my experience, if he comes to my house. Very very intelligent, doesn't bark much, is very soft to children and kind to adults. You can let him loose in the city or forest and knows what to do, without any prof training. My mate trains himself and knows the power of the dog. Instead of guard training, he started as young as possible socializing all kind of people and walk of the leash. He just copied in his mind that you could use the environment as a tool instead of making problems of infrastructure and all other human things. By 20 weeks completely from the leash and he doesn't care if he is on the leash.
He gives him raw food and bones in the weekend, and most of the time dry food bio. From Monday till Friday. He eats max 2 times a day and lays down for a couple of hours. The other thing is, these dogs knows how to defend and attack. It's an ancient breed that knows the differences between bad and good, if the owner is stable. This is not a dog for beginners and whatever you want, always research and be honest to yourself before getting huge problems. In the end the dog always loose and we as people must prevent it, instead of shooting it down.
For breeding in the whole world is just simple. To many people breed and has no or maybe a tiny knowledge. This problem can only be solved if there comes a worldwide standard where everybody stands behind. I don't say that people may not breed, but I rather see original dogs with a good bloodline from healthy breeders with the knowledge.
After this dog, he will take a new Cane Corso and honestly I felled in love with this breed. Absolutely good in house and never problems with any kind of thing.
Peace to all dog lovers and people who respect nature
Thank you brother for telling the truth about the breed, there were so many in Brooklyn growing up. But they faded away with the old Italian guys, my wife’s family in Naples on their farm use to give puppies away. My vet wanted $400 for a cherry eye on mine, I told him growing up I seen many done with a scissor for free. Anyway thank you so much for telling the true history on the Italian mastiff. Once a breed gets popular is the destruction of what they were.It was awesome to watch this, thank you for keeping the truth & the breed alive. Me & my Italian mastiff thank you.
I’m Derek Matsons part time grounds keeper! I take care of his dogs everyday 7 days a week! His dogs are the real deal! He’s kept the same consistent look of the cane Corso since he got involved with the breed in 1991! His knowledge/ stories are priceless to me! He’s a great teacher for sure!
Are you still breeding and selling Corso's or Where can I Buy A Pure Breed Corso , Tha j You
jimmy dogs are better
Dude I just seen this, 4 years laters, this guys HAS the experience and knowledge of these dogs, he doesn’t have enough followers on youtube, this guy is a legend
Why he calls then canay corso? It’s cane (Kane or like candy cane). That’s how the Italians pronounce it.
@@derekvela8646 he ain’t Italian, different pronounce it differently
That Bloodline is definitely royalty.
It's almost as though those dogs are self aware and know what family is ~
Thanks for sharing.
Now these are the real corsos . Beautiful 😍
Real traditional Corso's are unmatched. Please do extensive research on the breed before buying one and make sure you do yourself the service of getting a Corso from traditional lines. The calm, relaxed, and steady confidence is what makes this breed so special. That being said a traditional Corso is going to be a lot more protective then a Corso that has had recent Boxer mixing. After all, that is one of the reasons people started mixing it with Boxer, so it would be an easier dog to show and be less temperamental towards strangers. So if you want a traditional Corso make sure you spend extensive time in socializing to other dogs and strangers or else it could be over protective. Just like any dog you want a balanced dog that can be comfortable in any scenario. Socializing will not take away from their guarding instincts either, it's in their blood to know when to protect. It's a shame that there are people diluting the original breed but good traditional lines definitely exist. The quickest indicator in spotting traditional lines is the head structure and the body movement . Traditional Corso's eyes should almost captivate you, they should not be bulging in the slightest, there jaw should not be too undershot, and there movement should be almost cat like due to their long body and huge paws. There also not going to be overly hyper either. Especially upon meeting a stranger. Anyway, I hope this rant helps someone out who is interested in getting a corso.
Dala&Chase Cullen thanks for the details
THANK YOU!!! 100% CORRECT!
Great info
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 excellent you got it right
Which breeders still have the original bloodlines??
Are ruff house cane corso original
Dude keep the original bloodline alive please never give up on your priceless treasure
It's fake line, sotille committed fraud and mixed rottweiler with Neo and the original 6 is not even cane corso.
@@hercules_E164Kis there any evidence for what you’re saying?
The best Italian Masstiff i have ever seen !! Its hars to find a breeder who vreed working and deals with old bloodlines !! Congrats !!
I own a female Cane Corso named Abela and her father is ranked the 600th best cane in the world, i surely can agree that this is a dog which you instantly fall in love with and are the sweetest family pets, sorry for my bad english and i hope your dogs have a long and happy life ❤
he looks like someone from fast and furious😂😂
Today Today lol you are right
Vin diesel brother in Fast Nine
He looks like Hector from the first movie.
Yup, with DJ Khaled's voice lol😆
He looks like one of the lil Homies toys I used to collect.
Wow!! What a difference from what we been thought to represent a Cane Corso, or Neapolitan mastiff. These dogs are amazing they look big powerful and athletic!! Very good representation of a Italian Mastiff..Amazing work on the Dogumentary. Hope to see more videos of this Original line of Mastiffs 👍🏽
I perfer the original look of the dog.
cobratoxic me too! original is always better
Ofc, work lines of all breeds are far superior in both looks and functionality. Show breeding ruins breeds.
I don't, I like the look of my girl she is Cane Corso mixed with an American bulldog that has removed a lot of loose skin on the face, reduced her size to about 40 kg. She has lovely soft ears and a full tail.
@@labrat7357 but then, you have a mixed dog, not a pure breed
Mr. Stark I think that is the point, people are so afraid of mixing breeds which is weird because we are taught change is good, but then we try to change things and all of a sudden “old ways are better”
😅 I personally don’t care just a random thought
You are right about seeing boxers in the new cane corso...this is very insightful.
Now this is real old fashioned cane corso see the big head not the boxer looking shit we breed recently here in 🇺🇸
Ino Mbo big head makes it hard to give birth, not a great gene, still a beautiful dog though - lots of research done for this for the bulldog
I heard the long muzzle is actually a result of great dane in the mix. The boxer look seems to be more accurate when looking at the original
Thank god
This dog right year are a neapolitan mastiff/corso mix real cane corso are not like this..
@Tyler Williams neapolitan mastiff and corso was at the beginning the same dog but old neapolitan mastiff was totally different from now we have to remember the dog guaglione. Italy is a different country from region to region and for the corso's was the same things different type of corso for different attitude and use of the dog. Apulian corso's have the cleanest bloodline.
You should see cane corso dogs in Italy, amazing!!! Big and original and beautiful.
Thank you so much for making a video about this, I didnt know the old type was still alive!!!
Interesting how he mentioned that he sees Boxers mixed into the bloodlines. These cane corso' are huge. I'm from Australia and am yet to see amazing specimens like this over here. I went to Europe last year and was fortunate to see Cane' like in the video. I hope this breed doesn't get ruined.
Justin R Varga I live in Brisbane and I have a beautiful natured Cane Corso fella funnily enough also named 'Tank' who looks pretty damn similar just minus the cropped ears & tail, just shorter in the snout. He's a bit over 70kg & 2yrs 6mnths old.. He works with me in security on patrol.. lol, yep there sure are old school lookin' Corso like that alive & well in Australia 😉👌... I dug the video too, shed a little light on why my boy's pure bred & yet 15kg over the Australian 'standard'..#oldschool #notaneapolitan 💖
@@shermantank6724 do you still have your Corsos?
It already is ruined mostly. Very few people breeding true corsos, I’m not sure where I stand with his dogs. I think he’s legit for sure but it would be interesting to see genetics
@Shane Solar So true, unfortunately. They have become fashion accessories bred for size and a companion dog temperament. Even most of the so-called "working" Corsos are oversized and slow...they just bite hard. Athletic working Corso's you dont see too much of.
I like the look of the Old Italian Mastiffs..beautiful 💜
HI, everything you say makes so much sense i have a Cane Corso and everyone says she looks like a boxer. Thank you for putting up this video, your dogs are stunning!!!
I have a three months cane corso and i love it.
This dog make me very happy: is smart and protectiv. This breed is too amazing.
Skepsis 37 I completely agree! I have a year old female and she’s the most loving dog I’ve ever had!
All they originate from Canis Pugnax and the closest to the breed dogs today are in Puglia (Italy)! At the begining there were just few dogs left ! Italians start efforts to got back the breed by mixing with other mastiffs like Neapolitanian one.... but americans were keen too and they tryied with Bullmastiff....That is why today we have Cane corso americano and italiano one! I'm also a happy owner of Cane-corso ! Corect me if I'm not so right! In regards of Presa or dogo canario is a different mastiff and history, originated after the conquest, even their attitude and specifics are different, at least they are much longer with longer muzzle too! Cane corso is shorter and seems even higher with larger ,shorter and bigger looking head! As usual Presa are more agressive and difficult to train ...they used to be more farmer guardians than family or personal!
Any way- good movie!
My boys name was CASH , I had him for almost 14 years from a puppy , I miss my boy every day . I still have his ashes and told the fam mix it in with mine when I leave , fn guy still crosses my mind almost every day , I miss that fool . Can't bare my self to get another cuz friendship ends to quickly with these guys
You just have to get another puppy right away
It's very tough loosing a dog, I know just how ya feel. Just do what feels right for you .
That’s the exact reason I went to the Cane Corso’s- I raised English Mastiffs but their lifespans are way to short and its heartbreaking. I love the Corso’s and at least their a longer lived dog. Though they never live long enough. ☹️
@@msgottaneedtoknow My Neapolitan Mastiff Tracy, passed at almost 12, she is buried at my house in Mexico. Still miss her!
BEARDED VATO
😢 I’m so sorry... that’s so sad. I miss my boy every day too.
My boy is a cane corso/French mastiff mix and he’s the perfect family dog. He has the corso look, but the chillness, friendliness, and laziness of a French mastiff. He loves nothing more than laying his 175 pound self between my legs on the couch after a long tiring day of construction.
I have said bastardized version of corso...., I still love him with all my heart. I think he's got recessive pit (of sorts) genetics..., both parents looked like the old school version though. These guys almost went extinct at one point not long ago, I believe there where 7 corsos found to bring back the breed. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Very happy people like yourself care enough to keep the blood lines going. BEST utility dog!!!! My boy is in the profile pic.
That’s a myth.
Thank You for this video. Shed light on a lot of questions I had. I have been looking for breeders since my Corso passed 7 years ago and most of them never looked like him. Most breeds today looked more "Boxer" and no offense if thats what you like. But I always loved the larger, longer nose, looser skin. Its hard to find these days.
Great vid! We love our Cane Corso. He's everything described in this video
That brindle one with the floppy ears was absolutely beautiful.
Wow comrade very nice vid, Hopefully more people will research the history of the breed! These are some awesome dogs i,would love to see more traditional corsos been bred correctly here in America and in Italy! Salute you!
Salahudeen Salaam I remember you lol, the guy who said corsi don't drool hahaha peace to you bro.. I got some real dogs now. How you getting along?
Salahudeen Salaam I do man have you got any videos up on yours? long time my fri3nd, good to.hear from you. I have my youngest on my channel, won at abkc juniors but he hitting 80kg@18 months so getting above 'breed standard' for next show (Italian import, Tipsy Line) let me know if you know of any bitches with great lines in europe. Looking for a girlfriend for him
YourBrother has anyone ever tried breeding out the drooling?
Breed for performance and you will eventually breed out the health issues in a breed.Great documentary on a great breed. Now that we know the true history, look and temperament of the breed -let's breed strictly for what it was intended for.Work.
TheSNOTTBALL tbh mine just drool at feeding times, they do drool from time to time but nothing compared to other dogs with similar sized chops. My dogs are pretty long nosed, so just keep away from the diluted dog
Agreed on these new type of Cane Corsos. However the Napolitano Mastiff IS the original Italian Mastiff much like the Fighting Dog of Corodova IS what brought the Presa Canarios.
Great dogs to have. My father grew up on a farm in Italy with Neapolitan Mastiff as a guard dog.
I was just able to foster a beautiful female for friend for almost 4 months the dog absolutely protected my grandchildren fell in love with everybody here and as that video says anybody on the outside not advised to approach she did not much care for any other dogs at all unless they were already in the home she will be missed her mom came to pick her up what a great breed I've always been a doberman fanatic but these guys rock
Man that's great, and I agree keeping the true cane corso alive is for the best, they look much better than the soft "boxer mixes"
I've owned Staffordshire Bull Terriers for almost 30 years now. I love the breed (obviously). My only problem is that they are 'too' people friendly to the point that they can easily be stolen and given the right burglar, can be bribed during a robbery. Lately I have been looking at bigger breeds such as the mastiffs. I live in Australia and many breeds unfortunately are banned. However the Cane Corso isn't. I'm still doing my research (you can never do enough) and I think this breed is one that I would love to have as a home companion. Thank you for sharing so much about this breed.
everything he is saying is absolutely correct ...............a great comparison is today's bully breeds.....the softened temperment .........the enlarged size in some...smaller size in others..........various crosses to apt to create xxl large bully's ....pocket bully's .......micro bully's etc..........generally speaking all for show purposes......working ability is usually diminished ........postface........everyone is entitiled to their own interpretation of historical readings and facts........not here to argue the merits of what this gentleman is voicing ..........just as he is entitled to his interpretation (which i respect).....any other person is also(which i can also respect)......
As an US Army Disabled vet this is what I am looking for. I am in FL and I just learned about the Dog and I am personally amazed. I would love to get my hands on an original Italian.
Ive had cane corso's for all my life, we've had 4 at my house so far. 3 of them died of a natural cause but our last one (Jax) had a brain disorder which made him extremely agressive, we had to put him down when he just turned one. I lost the trust in cane corso's that day but I am slowly regaining it and I truly want another one in like a year or 2. No one will care about this but I just had to let it out. Peace
Mark van der Lei bullshit
brain disorder?... if you buy a mix it is obvious that the behavior is unstable
how can you lose trust over a brain disorder a freak mutation ? fucking idiot , either that or bullshit story. sounds like bullshit story to me.
The so-called brain disorder, not only happen to this dog but also with German Sheperd. This often happens with very close in-line breeding from unreputed breeders! In-breeding goes both extreme, either extreme intelligence or super crazy & aggressive dog! It may also happen with other breed which I am not familier with.
I have no idea why most of the people who answered you are so aggressive, maybe, because of the "brain disorder" they have, but I am absolutely agree with you as a huge breed dog owner and a neurosurgeon, this kind of disorder exists
Definitely agree, mixing the boxer has made them soft not enough bone like old school.....keep the traditional look and working attitude alive!! Ruffhouse knows where it's at 💙Tank is a hunk!
Great info and vid. Its a known fact that certain breeders did cross registered Neos back into some of the early Corsos with the justification that they were the same breed at one point and in certain areas. Some even crossed APBT for working competition purposes. We are talking top breeders too. Dirty secrets. Then when the breed was becoming more popular and gaining momentum towards AKC recognition there were in fact breeders who did introduce boxers into their lines. It completely changed the look of the older original dogs. It became the new normal and hot look of the breed. Neo traits and types were frowned upon and almost looked at as pet quality dogs. Unfortunately the popular registries for this dog followed suit as well. Introducing boxers did help agility, speed, hip problems, skin problems, and longevity. It decreased size, hardness/ aggressiveness, and over all strength unfortunately.
As a hobby breeder of Corsos for about 15 years I'm glad somebody is addressing the elephant in the room. I currently have both "types."
There are pros and cons with both. But I 100% agree with your thoughts of your dogs being closer to the original breed. I dont like how these newer owners or the registries try to pass on their show standards as if their version was pure and the original standard. Because its not. Its the opposite.
Do you have a FB page, site or blog?
Boxer brought in seizures to the breed, I like the Working Neo / Cane da Presa look myself.
I'm gonna say cheers for your Vid, as i,ve had a heart for the breed, since i bumbt into 1 in 2007,my culture is from sicily, to share my attachment, thank you for your love and respect to carne CORSO
i was waiting for this interview for a minute.. those are good looking dogs
Nice corso's that look more neo than boxer.
thelostcolony because they are ..
simply, the boxer look isn't Corso ;)
They look very different. Body, head, and legs.
It’s infuriating that the American Kennel Club and others are trying to corrupt the old line. They’re trying to force the boxer face, head shape, etc.., and make it the new standard of the breed. Why the hell do they feel they need to do that? And what the hell right do they have changing the original dog?! It’s disgusting, not to mention makes the breed less healthy. 😡
The best dogs and the best way of breed line is the way exactly this bloke explains it
Thanks for your dedication Jimmy❣️
Being napoletan and being a sure grip dog lovers I could say video is pretty accurate and I like it, anyway if you go in our inland farms you find the ancient córso, look the same of dogs in video but slightly smaller, maximum 50 kg for males, they are really working dogs, they stay outdoor all year around= short but double coat aka cow coat, cheers from Naples

Wowwww soo crazy. I actually just met Derek Matson. I live in Ohio. Plan on getting a traditional corso from him. He is one of the most KNOWLEDGEABLE ppl I know on this breed . I would love for someone like him to be my mentor. He never sugar coats either. Always get straight to the point n keep it real n honest 🙏🏾
I just went to school on the history of Cane Corso. Great video.
Seems like a really cool dude who is respectful of those who are accomplished in the field.
I love Cane Corso's yours are the best I've seen, lovely
Athletic old English bulldogs Check out my channel. Please give me shy suggestions.
My Cane Corso, a now 5 month old puppy. we've had him for around 3 weeks after rehoming him. Very friendly and sociable guy, fine with other dogs extremely obedient and attentive, much more so than my American Akita (they get along very well). Basically, a little gentleman and I love the guy to bits, having quickly built a very strong bond with our family. he gets plenty of exercise and long walks. Im an experienced owner of GSD, Doberman, and American Akita.
one issue I have that I have not experienced with my other dogs. He randomly but very rarely has growled at me from a distance quite aggressively from across a room, does not seem playful or communicative like I've had in the past, and not snarling teeth showing, just a deep growling and a nasal pre bark exhale (most will know what i mean) but no bark. But he looks directly at me and does it. He's also done this to my wife, I cannot understand why he does this. He is otherwise completely submissive and affectionate to everyone, no resource guarding or aggression otherwise whatsoever.
I'm just now concerned by this, we have two young children in the house. If these are early warning signs or otherwise common behaviour for this breed, I need to know, but still highly doubt it this would be a breed commonality. any experienced owners feedback very welcome.
Thanks man this what I been asking for months ago. 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Robert Hampton don't use this as your main form of info please.
Diesel Mom I'm not but this is some of above average info you can get in video form that's not Italian. It could of been better
Robert Hampton i found alot of inaccurate info. i trust the books more
This guy is why people should research where they buy their dogs. What a disgrace.
These types of Corso's are the old world, pastoral guardians of the Italian countryside around the Campania, Puglia, Abbruzzo and Marche regions and have a more Neapolitan look to them. However, the Corso's further south in Italy, like the ones seen in Western Sicily, are leaner, little bit less bone and more agile - which is my personal preference. Nonetheless, these are nice old school Corso's for sure. If you are an intruder or pose a threat to their family, they will attack ferociously I promise you that
Great looking dogs, one of my top three breeds!!!Amazing work Zeke as usual.!!!
love these dogs the traditional old school look is best for them i hope to purchase ah few in the near future
I've been in Cane Corsos since 1996. The old dogs didn't have a specific name; they were mixtures of dogs. Then they took the dogs and bred them to their own specifics. You can't write your own standard of a dog that's already been established and that's the problem with the breed today. People keep breeding their own interpretations-bad bites, bad fronts, bad hips, etc.
I love this dog!!!! OMG!! What a stellar specimen. I would love to get one of these true bred puppies.
He isn't breeding the old time traditional corso. He said himself, the old traditional corso had a very stable temperament. But, this man doesn't even trust his corsos around dogs they haven't met before. The cane corsos were also not this large in the old times. He said he was replicating the 1949 "look". Thats not what they looked like hundreds of years ago.
I'm Italian-Canadian and I have relatives in Sicily. A second cousin of mine who lives in the capital Palermo breeds them. I got to see what they looked in the early 90's and the only breeders I know in the States who's Corso's looked like the ones my cousin had are Scandifio and Colosseum Shadows.
This man is the breeder I have been searching for. We are in simpatico, concerning this breed.
Cane Corso and Neopolitan Mastiff are 2 different dogs. This is a quote from some research i did. "What's the difference between a Cane Corso and the Neapolitan Mastiff? They are both Italian based Mastiffs but have very different lineages and temperaments."
I appreciate your work brother thanks a lot for protecting it in its original

My mans dying, just got diagnosed with CHF.. he’s 8, I’ll tell you this it’s brought me to my knees my son as well, we got him when my son was one year of age.. fkn heart wrenching!
Its tough when they aint got that rigor and spunk anymore, especially when they are sick. Pray for you my man.
I'm so sorry. We lost our first female in August, and our second was diagnosed with cancer 7 weeks later, she only made it about 2 1/2 more weeks. 😪
Lisa Warrick that’s how long our guy lasted after his er visit.. he died 30 minutes after greeting my kids from school for last time, went back in the room he was dead in his bed.. 😔 just don’t seem right.. he never acted sick
Our Doberman died from DCM 6 years ago. It's very common for the breed sadly. Same, he was fine one day, the next in CHF. 😪
Lisa Warrick I heard could be from non grain dog food.. I fed my guy Fromm I looked it up it’s actually on the FDA list.. guess there’s a study it may be causing heart disease! 🤷🏻♂️ our next guys getting fed nothing but raw food diet!! At the ER first thing they asked before they told us his condition, they asked if we fed him grain free.. then charged us almost 2 grand to drain his stomach, following week our vet said they would of charged 45 for the visit and 52 to drain! 🤣🤣 fkn scum bags! Whole situation has literally made me sick.
I love this man and his description of everything!! So glad and bkessed we have a Cane
I have 2 my Male Bruno 140 lbs my female 110 lbs .I love them best dam dog I ever owned smart fast strong .
Best description I've heard regarding their temperament (mine, included!) is that they are "switched on". 🎯
Good information, I have one traditional Corso too. Best dog ever.
I’m glad i saw this video because this is my perception as to how a cane corso should really look like
I'm Italian and previous Corso owner and I've seen the Cane Corso's all over southern Italy and they don't look like that. I'm not hating, I think they're still nice, but these are more like classic Neapolitans (Mastino Napolitano) than Cane Corso's. CC's should always be lighter and more agile with a lot less dewlap. Ideally a large male Cane Corso should not weigh more than 120lbs. Mine was btwn 108-112 lbs and he was perfect.
@@zyklonb.38 Quindi hai capito cosa ho detto io, pero ti sei ridestato in Italiano ah? I only understood about 75% of your comment. My Italian is not so good, so I'll respond in English. I'm Italian-Canadian, my mother is from Abbruzzo and my father is from Sicily. The first time I saw a Cane Corso was when I was in Palermo. My uncle and my cousin breed Cane Corso's there. Then I bought my first Cane Corso here in Canada in 1999 from a very good breeder who also shipped his dogs over from Italy. There are 2 breeders in America that breed Cane Corso's like the one's I saw in Sicily and Abbruzzo 1) Scandifio Cane Corso and 2) Colosseum Shadows Cane Corso. Look at both websites. If your Cane Corso is 47-48 kg that is a perfect size for a female. A male should be 50-55 kg. The Cane Corso should never have a Boxer like undershot jaw; should be more robust and bigger boned than a Boxer, but not overly large with lots of dewlap like a Neapolitan. They should be athletic looking and agile. Blue, black, stag red, brown with brindling SHOULD be the only acceptable colors
@@zyklonb.38 Ora capisco cosa hai scritto. So what do you disagree with ? Remember, Michael Sottile, one of the most important men responsible for the revival of the modern Cane Corso is Sicilian, and a lot of his foundation dogs came from the Palermo area. At that time he called them the Sicilian Brachiero (cane di macellaio). Look at the Cane Corso's on the 2 websites I mentioned - that's what the Cane Corso should look like!
@@zyklonb.38 no nn dire tu cazzate!
the original cane corso was called CANIS PUGNAX, and was the ancestor of today's cane corso and perhaps also of the Neapolitan mastiff, however they were dogs that used the Roman legionaries in war, and were even more ferocious than today's dogs
His dog looks nothing like the "template" dog he talked about. And that template was the Italian standard. Corso's are supposed to be agile athletic but not huge compared to other mastiffs.
@@alliii835 wrong person. That was ruff house is canada. This guy is in California and not affiliated with other one mentioned by jason Corey.
The original dog was mixed with a boxer for the American kennel clubs
The cane corso and neo are meant to be the same breed
@Marino Cane Corso now they r. But when u see original cane corso like these. These are wat neos are meant to look like
Beautiful video. Love Cane Corso
That black and white photo looks like Preacher at Senza Tempo Cane Corso.
Stop it Senza Tempo isn’t anything compared to this
i had a cane corso once, his name was thunder (due to his blue coat and deep bark). he came to my life when he was 1 years old . his previous had abused him by tying him up and letting three red nose pits attack him while he was a growing puppy. but not once when I had him he used those traumatic event against me . he was still a fun, dopey ,kind loving dog .he was very protective over me but never aggresive to me or others. he was truely the best dog ever and was bestfriends with my blue nose pit . due to living situations i had to get rid of both but not a day goes by where i dont cry over the memory of those two beautiful dogs.
Dude sounds just like Christian Slater! Great looking dogs!
Hahahahahaha he does. Adam AR
Informative vid. I bought my first CC female 13 years ago and now have my second one. Totally different dog, in looks and character. Both amazing but I (as a enthusiast) could already she the major differences in looks. Less loose skin, higher on her paws(She is 75 cm high and 50 kg...jep...) People always ask me whether my CC (with full pedigree, not mixed) is a Great Dane. I laugh and tell people that she is a 'sportversion with spoilers' version of the CC. She's an amazing dog but is she a original version of a CC? Nope, my old one was. Love(d) them both to death though. Would never ever consider taking another breed. Once a Cane Corso, always a Cane Corso.
My brother YERIMY VELEZ, is the best dog lover. I was so afraid of he's dogs when I first came around these huge vicious yet sweet dogs! My son grew up around these dogs and he now helps take care of the new breeds.
Gala Velez I met your brother and bought my girl (Luna) from him. He has awesome dogs(:
does he have a site or page I would like to get a pup from him
I totally agree the Americanized cone corso looks a little bit like a boxer I have had 2 original corsos one generation back to Italy your dogs look great nice job
Universe works in mysterious ways. I was just about to type Cane Corso into the search bar but then saw this on my feed because I'm subscribed. I'm getting my beast real soon, thanks for the upload.
Just do not get it from a backyard breeder like Ruff House
Thanks Zeke. Another great video that I was looking forward to watching.
How do breeders "get away" with crossbreeding while still having a pedigree that can go into a show ring out of curiosity?
Paper hanging
The akc call it in line breading look it up
@@2006greysilverado that's fucked up that it seems like they're glorifying it
I don't know about dogs but if it's anything like horses there are certain breeds you're allowed to cross with and still have them registered under a breed. Like if you breed a German Warmblood to a thoroughbred the foal can be registered as German Warmblood. Horses aren't dogs though so idk if it works the same.
I don’t line those new, “American” style corso. It’s boxer all over their face. Somehow the get purebred status when it’s obvious to a non experts they have mixed lineage. Then once they become show line the breed just becomes trashed
I love the structure of these dogs.
I just got a puppy from Jeremy, he is a super cool guy. My pup is actually related to Tank.
MyColts1 did it come with akc planing on getting one next week

Mines too
Good going man...
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Neapolitan mastiff got nothing to do with the Corso they are two different breeds although they are coming from a common ancestor...
Love It!!! RESPECT MY MAN
I had one he was my best and most loyal friend !! RIP DEVIL ❤
Great vid as usual !
Beautiful family and beautiful dog ❤️❤️ thank you for keeping true to tradition 🇮🇹🇮🇹👍🏽 your dog tank e un bravo guaglione 👌🏽😁 in southern Italy we say guaglione when referring to your “bro”
i think they scam people
Tank is one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen
Sophie Lodewijkx he has a pit smile but yah he is
My Cesar has been gone for 2 years and how I miss him. He was a great breed and I always do my home work before I buy. So when I was looking for new pup, I look and read about the breed so one day I saw this pup and this pup became my Cesar.
That is a great Corso.
Great video, thanks bro. I've got a bandog, shes 1/4 Cane Corso.
I've had bandogs for about 30 years, this is my first Corso blood, and I'm pretty stoked about it. Most of mine have been Bordeaux by Pit, and Filas.
This one is Presa Canari/Cane Corso x English mastiff/pitbull.
Thanks for the video!
Excellent!
Most cane we see in France, from breeders, look like yours…
My son has one, from a shelter, obviously traumatized from previous life. Abandoned twice. He is 11 now and my protector. He looks cool and aloof but he notices everything, and can change in a fraction of a second. So, I am on alert as soon as there is someone around. Fortunately I read him very well and so far managed to defuse him before action. I know he would give his last breath for me…
Now… obedience… you have to know they are extremely intelligent dogs, they will always try to do what they want. Very discreetly, very cleverly… as a french I am tempted to say, very italian way… so I never let him completely off the hook and this is how I gained his respect. Does he love me? To some extent… but my son is God in his world. Although he talks to me not to my son… talks even when I do not want to listen, he comes and tells me what is bothering him… it feels like having someone around not a dog.
I have my dogs, Rott (love them) and Beauceron, but this Cane is very special. Companion and protector.
I'm Italian, my cousin, when I was a child, owned a mother a his son, both cane corso. He wasn't a dog expert, but both of them were the calmest and sweetest dogs I've ever met.
Great video very informative!!
Beautiful animal, great job . Former Military police sentry dog handler.
