We just need to get some luck in avoiding injuries If people can get healed up enough to play next week and some come back like Mosley and we can get out of that game with no injuries that would be great
Just saying, I’m a Lions fan over here in Wisconsin.. The Packers are better than you think and don’t have all the injuries. Prediction, they win next Thursday night because of the injuries to defense
I feel we are cursed. I thought the only thing that could derail our Super Bowl was injuries. I've never seen so many injuries within the past 30 years of watching the Lions. Why couldn't this happen when we were bad.
It did happen. We we just generationally bad at the time so no one cared “how many were out and on IR”. We weren’t going to win if everyone was healthy was the general feeling.
Just look how Chicago moved the ball against our 3rd line defence in the last half of the 3rd and 4th. The moved it at will. If eberflus had not messed up the clock at the end the Lions would be 10-2 right now
Seriously if the Lions wins the NFC Championship and get to the Superbowl with these hanging on a thread, jumbled up defense, it would be the greatest achievements any teams have ever achieved in the NFL history. Even if they didn't win the SB.
I love the pick up. If he can stay healthy he'll payoff tenfold! These injuries are ridiculous. However championship teams find guys to plug in and win and that's what we are doing! RRRRROOOOAAAARRRR!!!!
I hope the Packers can take advantage of the injuries and win in Detroit on Thursday! Detroit's last 5 games looks brutal having to play all the teams in the North starting with Green Bay and then the 9ers who are still a threat and probably the best team in the AFC or top 3 for sure in the Bills! While the Packers have the Seahawks in Seattle which is never easy but then the Saints then Vikings and Bears (Bears should be better with the coach gone)
We have 3-4 of the same guys on IR all the time. Need to let them go at the end of the season. Iffy/mosley/Pascal/oricerike.(Sp) There's couple of more also. Never available except 1-2 games a year. Davenport.
I agree with some of those. Moseley, for example, if he's not able to get up and running this year and finish well. Others like Paschal, no. As long as it's not the same chronic injury every time, and the player is still young and good, you ride it out some more. Everyone in Detroit was crying about Swift missing games every season, for example, and he's been very healthy the last two seasons. The other side of that is that probably over a third of all NFL players are regularly hurt. It's just part of the game.
Johnson was being chased by three teams 2 years ago, and last year also. He chose to stay for less money and prestige. That tells you he has a real allegiance to Detroit. Not impossible, but I would call it very unlikely he would go to a rival because of this.
Eberflus would have been gone no matter what. It's better that they get rid of him now, have new guy step in build some rapport with players etc then it would be harder to switch for next season. For Ben Johnson it might be interesting to consider coaching Williams, but they have no O line, no 2 headed monster in RB, plus he'd have to play in the NFC North. Finally, that front office is a mess. If this is B Johnsons one shot to have a HC position, not sure that's the best idea.
Free agency and draft picks for 2025…should be. 90% defense 10% offense. Get a good Oline guy and another WR. After that….. all defense. 3 linebackers 2 D line 2 DB’s.
I honestly think both Mahogany and Manu can be good starters, potentially. Maybe one more backup/project type, but I don't think the line is a big priority next year. By '27, Glasgow and Decker, maybe even Ragnow will need to start be looking at to be replaced because of age though. We've got plenty of very good players on defense, if they stay healthy. With our two highest picks, I would go defensive end and receiver, possibly linebacker.
I totally agree with you though as far as not continuing to run the ball once we get over in the red zone because there is a few times where they were running the ball for a huge lumps and gnashing the defense and then they get over to the bear side of the field and they pass it on first second and third down and have to kick a field goal SMH like I don't understand why they don't just keep running the ball and getting those 9 yds or 11 yd or even if it was four or five yards a pop, just keep using what works. If they run the ball and only get one or two yards then yeah second down you might want to do a play action but to just go up there and just throw it on first down second down and third down and have to settle for a field goal after you just cash their defense for 40 plus yards from the beginning of the drive is unacceptable SMH sometimes Ben Johnson likes to get a little too cute and I'm wondering if it was because it was thanksgiving, last time he did it in the NFC Championship Game and it cost us a Super Bowl. So he does do it in other games but he doesn't do it all the time but it just seems like every now and again he starts getting this too cute syndrome out of nowhere and wants to just start throwing the ball on first down second down third down and what other have to settle for a field goal or punt the ball
What? What game were you watching? We still ran the ball a lot in the second half, and clearly Chicago were increasingly keying on the run, and slowing it down. In the first half we were averaging 9 yards per carry, we ended with a shade over five. The last drive was a disaster in running the ball every time, ultimately ending in a 2-yard loss when all 11 Bears were aggressively playing the run. If anything, we ran the ball too much - for sure on that last drive we did.
Hopefully we can get iffy back because he's a big safety and he can probably play the linebacker position when we're plan more of a coverage type defense and he's still big enough to shoulder down and hit the gaps during run plays
Bro Rodrigo won’t be out most of next season also at ALL…. ACL tear he will be operated on and be ready for either pre-season or at most misses 2-3 weeks even if….. you think he’s ready for training camp it doesn’t take 9 months to recover from ACL repairs anymore
The number one seed is indeed looking unlikely at this point. But because of all the injuries, in no way should it be said not to worry about it. To get that full week off to give time to all these guys to heal would be MASSIVE... Not to mention of course making the path to the Superbowl much easier and not having to win that extra game, while not incurring even more injuries.
@@johnboehmer6683 I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily unlikely. Philly and the Vikes have a tough remaining schedule (so do we). It’s just that getting a number one seed is the least of our concerns at this point.
@@quasistellar3594 Given that literally half of our defense is down, and our schedule is tougher than both of theirs for sure (by far, our easiest game left is on the road in the cold against this Chicago team that we don't match up well against), they both have some easy ones. When trying to get healthy, the one seed matters, a lot.

Hes gonna be a good competitor against the Lions in the coming years (from a Lions fan) but quit whining about the hit. You play football for gods sake
I love the show but I can let this go by the way side "our top 4 linebackers are on IR"... Captain Jack isn't sliced liver... The guy was at least #3 linebacker on the team prior to all the injuries
So did calling a run play on a crucial 3rd and 2 on our last drive. Failed. You know what didn't fail? Several short yardage short passes that were converted for first downs throughout the rest of the game. Hindsight criticism drives me crazy. So much of what Detroit does succeeds because the play calling is unpredictable, unconventional. Please don't cry every time that it doesn't work.
Huh? We COMPLETELY DOMINATED Chicago for a full half! Then, yeah, enduring 5 key injuries in the second half, and some very questionable play calling on offense, struggled. Green Bay may beat us, but no way they blow us out. Chicago's defense is considerably better than Green Bay's, and we still put up average points on them by NFL standards. It'll be much more along the lines of a shootout that could go either way than any possibility of a blowout, even with five positions now being manned by the bench.
We peaked way too early. Goff can't win super bowl anyway. See him yesterday? Mvp? 😂 short throws over throws falling down. Now Injuries just too hard to win in the NFL over 17 weeks and playoffs. Especially with a slow pocket passer with mid level arm
@HenryGrudziadzJr at least you admit it. Just 50 years of watching playing and coaching proves it. Anything is possible. Brad Johnson Trent dilfer and nick foles won a super bowl just not likely. Can't blame the lions fans. 68 years of failure does lots of ptsd
Well, someone saying that after Hutchinson, Barnes and Davenport were all out. I have no idea how we're doing this, but let Glenn be Glenn. We just keep playing great defense, no matter how many guys we lose somehow.
It may not be as bad as you think. The offense is still almost completely intact (thought know St Brown and Montgomery have been playing hurt, a real concern there). Our special teams are elite. And even the defense still has the best run stuffers in the league in McNeil and Reader fully healthy, to go along with the best to safeties also. Davis should be back in a couple weeks, Mosley may be able to help out in a significant way. We'll be at home quite a bit, still have the best running back tandem in the league also. Will likely drop a couple cuz the schedule is TOUGH, and with that probably drop the one seed unfortunately, but I don't see disaster coming. Glenn is pulling some UNREAL stuff, let's see if he's got another three or four tricks up his sleeve! Still have the best OC in the NFL, and did I mention our offensive line, with Decker likely coming back next week?
Part of being a great coach is knowing when to protect your players from getting injured. Some coaches go too far with that and some don't go far enough. And I suspect Campbell and his coaching staff sees the Ring and maybe are pushing these guys a little too hard? Normally wouldn't think that but we have an inordinate amount of injuries. Maybe he should back off for a couple of games? We can afford to.
What do you mean, "back off?" Play 95% instead of 100%? Sit starters? Change the entire team philosophy and psyche because the law of averages caught up to us after last year having few injuries? The philosophy that has a lot to do with our massive success? NO. That would be a disaster. Then three games later, Campbell says okay, back to 100%, too late. The team has lost all respect for him, momentum is lost. I've heard it said more than once that playing football at half speed actually results in more injuries. No, we just have to play through this.
@@johnboehmer6683 Remember a few years ago they had a lot of injuries and they fired the physical conditioning coach? Guys showing up at camp looking like they were on a cheeseburger diet? @@W1se0ldg33zer Okay, I see where you're coming from now. Yeah, Caleb tried to fake like he was going out of bounds and then cut back inside and he paid for it. Bro should not have messed around and found out. He should have made the business decision to go out of bounds, but he messed up.
We just need to get some luck in avoiding injuries
If people can get healed up enough to play next week and some come back like Mosley and we can get out of that game with no injuries that would be great
Our first scoring drive, where we stalled in the redzone, I yelled that exact thing at my TV. "Why did we abandon the run!?"
Why did they put Anzalone on it for a broken forearm double cast that shit and let’s roll ! Glad we got kwan he’s a beast when healthy
A linebacker is useless if he has a broken arm. Not like a kicker with a broken arm.
They want to play him into the lineup. That's what they do. Then they have him up to speed for Green Bay and Buffalo
we are just going to have to win with our Offense now. Injuries happen.

Great signing!
💥 As for as I know we're the only team beat up this bad ...!!!
Whatz Up !!!
True team ball this year. Everyone simply has to do their jobs, when nobody covers for other assignments everyone is covered…
Most of the IR guys will be back for the postseason thankfully
Just saying, I’m a Lions fan over here in Wisconsin.. The Packers are better than you think and don’t have all the injuries. Prediction, they win next Thursday night because of the injuries to defense
I feel we are cursed. I thought the only thing that could derail our Super Bowl was injuries. I've never seen so many injuries within the past 30 years of watching the Lions. Why couldn't this happen when we were bad.
Right - just brutal
It did happen. We we just generationally bad at the time so no one cared “how many were out and on IR”. We weren’t going to win if everyone was healthy was the general feeling.
The guys go 100 % on every play that’s why the injuries
Campbell and Glenn both knew Alexander
Lions were exposed on Thanksgiving day ! I am a huge Lions fan but I am being honest ! Tough weeks ahead 😊
Brad Holmes probably has a white board in his war room office full of contingencies for each player on the roster and which team they’re on
Kwon pick up was good. Hope long ready to go.
Ben and Dan know him
Just look how Chicago moved the ball against our 3rd line defence in the last half of the 3rd and 4th.
We’ll lose against the Packers. Sucks, but injuries are gonna kill us.
Yes we have a culture. Yet we have no defense left. If they don't go out and get some players we are going to drop a few games and possibly the north.
Offense needs to work some things out. Abandoned the run the second half, Goff threw the ball way too much!
top 4 linebackers gone... so campbell is the 5th linebacker
We will be ok. Still a Superbowl team. Next man up
We have 3-4 of the same guys on IR all the time.
The Bears are coming hard after Ben Johnson, I also think Aaron Glenn ends up in New Orleans.
Next draft and free agency should be for pure depth
Where do I get that banner behind you?
Lions officially now have a 'No Name' Defense
The Eburflus firing scares me. I heard a rumor Chicago is a landing spot for Ben Johnson. Losing him to a division rival is a worse case scenario
Johnson was being chased by three teams 2 years ago, and last year also. He chose to stay for less money and prestige. That tells you he has a real allegiance to Detroit. Not impossible, but I would call it very unlikely he would go to a rival because of this.
It’s not even a problem worth sweating about right now. They got a job to finish right now.
Well Johnson is a Lion until the season ends so I wouldn’t worry about it. As a wise man once said, F the Bears!
Mosley isn't back to the IR he's going to get reps vs G.B if all goes well
Give the "freeze-stop" move to the inventor, Patty Mahomes. Is that okay? Dirty player are us!
All these add on pieces instead of Detroit lions we gonna be the Detroit Legos 😂. We still gonna do the dam thang ! Lets Go !!!
Hmm... On paper that sounds pretty good, but on the field he gets injured every fourth game just out there playing safety.

Blue collar detroit journeyman grit is stepping in to shore up leaks, and help hold the wall. Damn hope the offense can give those warriors a break
You're saying Campbell is not in the top 4 linebackers?
We’re guaranteed to go to the playoffs at this point. I’m not really worried about getting the number 1 seed right now with all this injuries.
U won't win a playoff game guaranteed
The number one seed is indeed looking unlikely at this point. But because of all the injuries, in no way should it be said not to worry about it. To get that full week off to give time to all these guys to heal would be MASSIVE... Not to mention of course making the path to the Superbowl much easier and not having to win that extra game, while not incurring even more injuries.
@@HenryGrudziadzJryawn
@@johnboehmer6683 I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily unlikely. Philly and the Vikes have a tough remaining schedule (so do we). It’s just that getting a number one seed is the least of our concerns at this point.
@@quasistellar3594
Given that literally half of our defense is down, and our schedule is tougher than both of theirs for sure (by far, our easiest game left is on the road in the cold against this Chicago team that we don't match up well against), they both have some easy ones. When trying to get healthy, the one seed matters, a lot.
You know if Campbell would have went by him he was going to take off farther upfield so that it was fair I liked it beat em up and I didn't know Rodriguez was out Go Lions next man up
We got to out score our opponents
Hes gonna be a good competitor against the Lions in the coming years (from a Lions fan) but quit whining about the hit. You play football for gods sake
I love the show but I can let this go by the way side "our top 4 linebackers are on IR"... Captain Jack isn't sliced liver... The guy was at least #3 linebacker on the team prior to all the injuries
He definitely said three of our four top linebackers are down at one point, maybe he said something else somewhere else?
When abalone is done Campbell will be captain
Win the superbowl with 3rd string defense
Should go after players for the Bears
Time to make Branch a Linebacker !!!!
By next week, we may be calling on Bates to be a linebacker! Unreal...
Mosely is still out?? Thought he was back.
We could win this year n next year but watch er body gone wanna be a lion
Williams crying like a little girl... He hit my knee...waaa waaa...
They need to return that hats style back to ‘93 and leave it there. Sorry Homie
Hats style?
Yeah the play calling in The redzone was goofy. Even in midfield Ben called a pass play on 3rd and 1. It failed.
@@johnboehmer6683 I’m not crying fool. I was scratching my head as soon as I saw Goff drop back for a pass. The run was working most of the game.
@@Tru7blue
So was the pass fool. Probably would have worked again on that crucial 3rd and two at the end too... If we weren't running it instead.
If we play the packers like we played the bears, they will make us look like the titans or jags
About to get stomped
Titans, or Jags, don't have LIONS offense.

@@Jreid-zz2jp exactly you're the one smart Lions fan
@HenryGrudziadzJr at least you admit it. Just 50 years of watching playing and coaching proves it. Anything is possible. Brad Johnson Trent dilfer and nick foles won a super bowl just not likely. Can't blame the lions fans. 68 years of failure does lots of ptsd
Could the lions pick up some DL players that are on waivers
Our front 7 line is decimated, we don't have much left in our deck of cards. Why don't we pick up some DL players that are on waivers
They shouldn’t pay Mosley another cent until he plays a full game without an injury he can’t even do pregame without getting hurt ffs!
They won't.
Bad news all our good defensive players are out. Good news, the nobodies are stepping up and we signed a scrub the jets didn’t want
Needless to say, the offense needs to run up the score every game!!!
Well, someone saying that after Hutchinson, Barnes and Davenport were all out. I have no idea how we're doing this, but let Glenn be Glenn. We just keep playing great defense, no matter how many guys we lose somehow.
Where just going to keep adding to that list. Rough weeks are coming. Hopefully saying “it was good while it lasted” isn’t true
Moseley isn't on IR any longer! He was just out this game
I'm anxious to see him back in to see what he can do. If he's even close to where he was physically before the injuries, he's a very good #2 CB.
Campbell actually just saved Williams from Brian branch
Maybe it's that? They're not up to shape to be running with the intensity they are at right now? They can't afford to ratchet it down even just a little when most all of our starters on defense are injured?
Way above an average amount of injuries - that's not just chance.
@@johnboehmer6683 It says -
Coaching responsibilities
Coaches are responsible for providing athletes with the best equipment, identifying hazards, and educating athletes on how to manage risks. They should also warn athletes of potential risks and how to prevent injuries.
Make of that what you will but I've heard it said more than once that improper coaching can cause excessive injuries.
@@W1se0ldg33zer
Okay, I see where you're coming from now. All I can say on that is, isn't it likely that the new training staff that they brought in last year, that enabled the team to stay far healthier than before, is still the same trainers now?
