@thefrenchwhisperer Please consider doing a video on Slavic mythology! I would love to hear about mokosh, velneus and baba yaga. There is a rich pantheon and a vast history to these stories. Thank you for your videos!
Except there is no rich pantheon or vast history. Almost everything you heard about slavic mythology is made up by 19th century romanticism and after. There are no myths or stories written down about slavic gods. All we know something about are Perun and Veles .Then the names about some Gods and Folk practices centuries after Christanization.
@@aceofspades6667That one, yes. The boogeyman, classic folk myth, there's a reason his character has that moniker, it's directly referencing classic myth.
I am grateful that these stories are available for me to listen to as read by other voices. However, The French Whisperer is the perfect bedtime story teller. So for myself, why attempt to adjust perfection? Thank you French Whisperer.
I was just going to comment the same! I'm finishing Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Chronicles & decided to finally look into Mithra(s) these last few days - a happy coincidence indeed 😊
Thank you for these stories. Your gods, religions, myths and magical creation stories are always so insightful and peaceful. I hope there's more to come.
On top of your soothing voice, the cadence of your story telling is absolutely perfect. I think it’s why I find it hard to be soothed by very few people.
Thank you so much for these wonderful mythology videos! I learn about one of my favorite subjects while getting to let go of my anxieties and worries and I'm very grateful for that 😊
Oh wow so many new uploads from you! I'm elated! Haven't had the chance to listen to a lot of ASMR recently due to new sleeping arrangements but you *totally* have priority. Yeees
My older brother told me about them when I was younger I could never remember their names but I was fascinated when I seen this I remembered their names
I'd like to remind you of the *real* best God everyone. Brigantia. She's just so cool she's still got a certain island named after her, if you squint close enough.
I feel the need to put in that Sol Invictus worship on the 25th doesn't predate Christmas and could just as well have developed at the same time or as a response to Christmas as no other religion (at least anywhere in the area that could have in anyway influenced or been influenced by Christianity) really had a celebration on that day before. Before anyone tries to well actually me since I know someone is going to look at this and think I am mistaken or something, there was celebrations on that month, but that doesn't mean they are in any way related.
Would you ever consider any stories from the Old Testament? Such as Moses, Noah or Adam and Eve? Or perhaps some lesser known stories? I remember your wonderful retelling of Buddhism and Hinduism. I imagine Christian would be equally insightful. Some of the stories may overlap with other religions, such as Jewish and Islamic? I also wonder if you plan to revisit the Native Americans and a African cultural stories to expand on other gods or myths from the diverse groups.
1:49 The Roman Christian historian Sextus Julius Africanus dated Jesus' conception to March 25 (the same date upon which he held that the world was created), which, after nine months in his mother's womb, would result in a December 25 birth.Thats why its on the 25th, whixh also corresponded to sol invictus, bt it wasnt planned to be.
Une excellente presentation, comme toujours. Si ce n'est pas trop agacant, puis-je preciser le langage dans la partie sur Pazuzu? L'equivalent de "il n'a rien a voir avec" en anglais doit etre "he/it has nothing to do with".
It is not certain at all that "Christianity" gained followers organically more than most. They were oodles of various factions of Yahwistic, Mithraic, Ishtar / Oestera etc , Athena to Mars to Sol Invictus. Only till after late 200s did Christianity Jesus Style start getting major play. Otherwise thank you
Ya no tengo tiempo para hacer versiones en español, pero por esto tengo www.youtube.com/@LaBibliotecadelosSuenosov con las mismas historias contadas por una narradora.
Sol invictus is a diety in dungeons and dragons and it’s what a character will say to cast the “light” spell in baldur’s gate😭. There is also a character named minthara who is from the underdark which is interesting considering the whole “underground temples”mithra thing, but I could be reaching with that one
The historian debate about Christan supposedly plagiarizing some random gods festival has been long settled. Long story short no they did not and it’s just pagans saying that to try and gain some kind of cultural relevance by mall stuff up. Hope that helps
@@runningsandwich more specifically “The origins of the liturgical year by Thomas J Talley , the stations of the sun by Hutton, Encyclopedia of Christmas and new year celebrations 2nd edition by Tanya gulevich. For academic papers you can find “early Christan chronology and the origins of the Christmas’s date” “SOL INVICTUS, THE WINTER SOLSTICE. AND THE ORIGINS OF CHRISTMAS” by Steven Hijmans, and “Calculating December 25 as the Birth of Jesus in Hippolytus' Canon and Chronicon” by Thomas C Shmidt. This is the academic sources and proof that Christmas and its traditions are in fact Christian in origin and modern pagans are just trying to cope with their long dead religion.

Well whispered sir! You have a voice of somnambulant woven silk. Merci beaucoup.
It's not really whispered, this is soft spoken. I therefore couldn't watch it when going to sleep but the rest of the time is perfect.
@ginismoja2459 yeah but “well whispered” is alliteration and sounds better
