As a Middle Eastern, I can say the very exact vibes about living in London. What you've experienced was nothing more than homesick. I'm living in London since 2015 and I also feel that I don't belong here for almost the same reasons (money/family away/ loneliness/ work stress/ no real connections due to the cultural barrier). However, my reasons to bear with it till now is beyond my control. It may also be that London & Dubai are one of the loneliest cities according to surveys.
It would've been nice if you hold on there for a year (would look good on the CV). The Middle East is rewarding when you're senior in your job so you can enjoy the benefits.

I moved out from Finland to Amsterdam last year July 2020 and first couble of months it was great. Then the loneliness/homesickness hit hard. Now Amsterdam/Netherlands are still in full lockdown and everyone still working from home. I work in IT and working from my small place. Not able to go to the office or anything. So I totally understand what happened to you. Not been able to see any one or going really out during the weekend. Don't have many friends here and it's constant raining or cold wind. I am trying to say here that it takes a long time to settle in a new country. It really doesn't matter what country you are when you are in a completely new place. It can feel just too much to handle. It's not easy to be just you in a new place. Have a great New Year and hope you the best.

The rental income pays for kids education which is bloody expensive like 20k £ per year! But we save £100k every year which is amazing! Would never do that in London. Btw we dont spend much money in Dubai, we eat in cheap places and avoid tourist traps. The tax free salary for both me and wife is a no brainer when you can save £1m every 7 years 🤔

Now I'm in London and considering moving to Dubai. What attracted me the most is that you can get nice studio for London room in 3rd zone while your salary is higher. It's not acceptable for me that one of the highest paying job here in London is tube driver who's job is just about pressing door button (starting/stopping the train is automated in most of lines). This is one of the reasons why Londoners pay so much for tfl commuting. Guess what's the salary for Dubai's tube driver... Well, it's zero, they're all automated. Don't know what's your salary in London but what I realized working here as engineer is that it's kind of modern slavery considering rent, travelling and eating out prizes.

Dubai or UAE as a whole can get boring and repetitive extremely fast. Yes, Dubai is a very hyped city with a lot of events. However, the events can get you broke quickly. Other than Abu Dhabi, the other Emirates are just normal but boring all as well. The Emirate to live more comfortably is Ajman because the accommodations are cheaper.
In summary, the UAE is an extremely happening place, especially in 2022 right Expo 2020 finalized. HOWEVER, UAE is more of a tourist country or a country where third-world citizens come to get job.
Dubai is city for the RICH! If you're middle-class or poor and single, you are better to live somewhere else.
I will say this. The UAE was a very fortunate place to be during the Covid crisis. Tourist visas were free for a year for ALL FOREIGNERS! Vaccinations were free. You gotta give credit where credit is due.

So, I'm happy to read that actually you feel good there, hope all will be fine with me as well ;)

young lady clearly didnt socialise, there are sooo many travelers who are alone and looking for some company, shes sitting around alone and could have met like minded women and people and even travellers easily. Jobs a job and there are loads of decent jobs too. Your never going to get holiday vibes when you work but you have to balance the good and the bad. Agree about the summer months. Deffinaly visit a few times on holiday before you take the leap. But she will soon regret being back in the UK which is getting worse daily
