I appreciate Bob's slow songs now more thanI I did when I was younger. What a story teller. Bob's productions of these songs were perfectly SYNCRONIZED.
Listening to Bob Seger on 8-tracks as a kid definitely made me a sauve with the girls in my late teens. He's my favorite singer by far, the GOAT of story telling and a master of music canvases... Best make out song EVER!!!!
This is a great man singing,to me about me and to me. Of course I will stay. Thank you so very much for deciding to be a BOB SEGER fan. If anyone listens to his words and music, they will be a fan !!
*I never thought of this song as a player just trying to get some, so thanks for that LOL. To me it's always been about him loving and wanting her so much, knowing she doesn't feel the same. So he'll take whatever he can get.. even if it's just one night. Bob Seger is a great story teller.*
I don't even think he **wants** her. I think he just needs some sort of human connection so badly that he's going for something that he knows isn't love or true affection, and will be forgotten (at least by her) as soon as they go their separate ways.
Most people do misinterpret this song, particularly on reaction channels. It's not really about a one-night-stand/hook-up...it's about two lonely people wanting/hoping/looking for someone and more. Most people don't consider the lyrics and longing/seeking in the melody and lyrics...and just come away thinking it's just a one-night-stand. It's a beautiful song.
My friend's and I saw Seger and the Silver Bullet Band in 1986 at Madison Square Garden. The concert was SO FANTASIC, we scalped the tickets and saw them again two days later at Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, NJ.
Bob Segar is a total star! His music and his voice are classic. I've loved him since I was a little girl. He went through some scary times with cancer. I'm so glad he's made it. Love my man Bob!!!!
I have always enjoyed pretty much everything that Bob Seger does, but this song is one of my favorites. There is just such a longing for a connection with another. Even if it isn't forever. Anyone can understand this, but the older one gets the more one can FEEL the truth of the situation! I enjoy watching your reaction videos and hearing your thoughts and insights! I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos!
Your reactions, your insights are going to the next level recently. It is obvious that the hundreds of reactions you have completed have polished the skill with which you practice your craft. EXCELLENT job on these Seger reactions!
Bob has a dozen massive hits...and this has always been my favorite. You got this song right...many mistakenly think it's about a hookup/one-night-stand. It's not...it's about lonely people and taking a chance...
The great Barry Beckett Beckett literally steals the show with his piano and organ. Rest in peace Barry. The people of Muscle Shoals miss you and Bob spending so many years in Muscle Shoals, making Gold And Platinum.
No one sings a story and emotion like Bob… he’s a legend. Haven’t listened to this in a while. Thanks Van for appreciating this man and his music and passing it on. Merry Christmas to you and yours 🎄
I saw Bob seger in 1972 in Ann arbor Michigan. A couple years before he created the Silver Bullet band. He was great then. He is still great now. it's sad that he retired. he was one of the most iconic storytellers of all time. you should check out Mary Lou or sunspot babe from his Night Moves album.
There's a video of Kenny and Dolly doing this in concert. There is a point in the song where Dolly is supposed to sing "who needs tomorrow" but she sings "who needs Sheena Easton" instead. Good stuff!
*Hey Van, this is a great song and one I'm sure a lot of us can relate to at some point. Bob Seger has such a huge list of popular songs* *Several of Bob's songs have been in commercials and movies and have been covered by other artists, check out Kenny Rodgers and Sheena Eastons cover of this particular song, it's nice nice because it highlights the song between the man and the woman* *Thanks brother, and thanks for the shout out on the Bill Burr (fail video), I saw no need to comment about being disappointed on your reaction* *Keep on keeping on brother* *PEACE*
He’s a master story teller, and the choir coming in is everything! Have you reacted to Taylor Swift? Talk about master story teller, and her videos are amazing. People might think she’s just a little pop star, but once you dive into her music, you realize Taylor Swift is her own genre. And sticking it to the greedy record label by re-recoding everything- she’s such a hard worker. There is now a before Taylor Swift and after Taylor Swift in the music biz. And covering her early 2009 stuff to 2014/15 to now is amazing as well. Compare Love Story when she was in her teens to Blank Space which is a few years old. Both great, but holy crap! Her songs are so layered and you can tell she puts so much work into her music and videos.
This was one of my favorites back in the day…but ya, I didn’t really “hear” it back then as a pick up by a smooth operator. I was in a place (major breakup of a 5 year relationship that I finally gave up on), so I was not looking for another heartbreak. This song spoke truth at the time as it described me. But NOW, I see this kind of nuanced approval of “free love” has led this nation into crisis on so many levels. 😬🙈
While this song is about a one night stand, for the guys who have been married for several decades - if you want to make your wife's knees wobble - listen to "Even Now" by Bob Seger with the lyrics nearby. She will melt into your arms once she realizes how meaningful and powerful the lyrics to that song are.
You’ve haven’t even played his live music yet he was absolutely phenomenal check out 1975 bob seger and the silver bullet band “live bullet” the best rock live album in history it is known!
I've been going to concerts and listening to good music since I saw Janis Joplin in the summer of 67. I've had the chance to see and party with some of the Greatest musicians of the last 60+ years,(Woodstock, Tanglewood,Toads Place,Shaboo Inn) anyone else remember? I was just introduced to another band that just blew me away don't care about a reaction but everyone needs to check out Black Top Mojo's video of It Won't Last !!! amazing guitar 🎸 and vocals. Another addition to my bucket list.
Love this one! Please react to Boz Scaggs “Love look what you’ve done to me.” Studio or live- I say live cause his 2 back up girls are phenomenal.. especially their endings notes at the end! PLEASE do that one- you’ll enjoy it! Another fantastic classic ! 💜👍✌️
Love Bob… Have you listened to Chris Stapleton’s music? Tennessee Whiskey, Sometimes I Cry, I Was Wrong… ANY of his music…. I predict you’ll love it~!!!
Seger fast “ Hollywood Nights” “Feel Like a Number” “ Makin Thunderbirds” “ Nutbush City Limits” classic slow Seger “ Roll Me Away” “ Like a Rock” so many more
Love this one. Man Bob Seger was the bomb back in day. Loved everything he put out. The sound of his voice isn't the same as Micheal McDonald from the Doobie Bros but in my ear for tones sounds and such those 2 are in a way similar but not. They have that idk what to call it but it's like the cusp that holds the tone idk but those to have that one thing I can hear in likeness just sayin'. This was one fine beauty of songs man I love it too💯🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I agree with Stephanie Clark..I believe the story is, he was in love with her and she really didn't want a relationship with him. He's just trying to convince her that it's OK if there's no tomorrow with them as long as he can have just 1 night with her. Not a player move at all. Van, you just a bad boy thinking that way lol!!!!
Great song. You have to check out Hall & Oates-"Sara Smile"...seriously, listen to it..don`t pause it too much because it is a very short song. And, you can thank me later for suggesting it a million times! :) It will instantly be one of your favorites...guaranteed. Straight to your playlist!
Hey, Mr. Van! Mr. Bob Seger is making love to this woman WITH this song. It's just as much 1 of his "night moves" as a kiss or caress. You're right - he knows what he's doing. So now LET'S do "Her Strut", please; "Kathmandu", please; & "The Fire Down Below", please! Thanks for waking me up EASY on a Sat. morning.
This is a another one of songs I heard the first time at the skating rink and when I got my first car Bob was always in tape deck when I had the girls with me In my 1977 Monte Carlo I would have Bob in the tape deck and my favorite Cologne on and the girls melting in my hands Cause I was about to hit that thang I had some bad ass rides back in the day Because back then not to many girls had a car of their own and if you did have a nice ride all the girls wanted to go out with you Man all of my black friends used to tell me I had the best looking cars at school and I kept all of my cars dead clean and the dam loved to talk about how clean my rides were Bob helped me say the things to the girls Because we stayed in the backseat as much as We did in the front Back in the day it was like all the girls wanted to see if they was next in line to get in my rides This is when I learned that girls talk just as much about hittin that thang as much as the boys But if you was lucky enough to have a car It was nothing to get a date with a fine ass girl and if you’re car was clean Because I kept all my rides clean and still do
That's one of the songs they used to play at the end of the night at the club to slow dance if you didn't have a women by then you went home alone🤣🤠🌴🇺🇸
The most underrated artist of the last 50 years
I appreciate Bob's slow songs now more thanI I did when I was younger. What a story teller. Bob's productions of these songs were perfectly SYNCRONIZED.

This song, to me, infers it's a win-win for both of them. ❤😊❤
Bob Segar is a total star! His music and his voice are classic. I've loved him since I was a little girl. He went through some scary times with cancer. I'm so glad he's made it. Love my man Bob!!!!
BOB Was smart he surrounded himself with nothing but the best in The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, efectionatetly known as The Legendary Swampers .
Seger not Segar!
His name is SEGER , THERE was a RUMOR that went around for YEARS BoB ( SEGER) had Throat cancer! It wasn't TRUE!
Another master piece by the master lyricist, singer, storyteller and entertainer, Mr. Bob Segar. And I always enjoy you analysis of a song.
I agree with you that he really knows how to use dynamics to get his message across.
For a true Bob player song, “Come To Poppa”. So many great Seger songs!
and bringing back good memories
this song rings for me for the ages
I’m so glad you’re enjoying bob

Icon. Career span fading 6 decades.
He’s putting it all out there and giving her the choice. He can sure tell real life stories that we can identify with.
Exactly. Bob Seger doesn't sing songs, he tells stories.
So romantic and so emotional, I could definitely have this song on repeat 🔁 ♥️♥️♥️
As a woman, I think this song is straight to the point. “We are both grown-ups and single. We’ve got tonight…who knows?”
I wish more (read:all) women were like you.
💐

You know music written in the has a definite rhythm. This is one of the slow, sweet songs that touch your soul.
Bob seger is one of the greats.
Thanks for the great music reactions , love the channel.
Bob Seger brings out the best in you, Van; thoughtful, appreciative, and eloquent reactions. My favorite kind! 💘
The great Barry Beckett Beckett literally steals the show with his piano and organ. Rest in peace Barry. The people of Muscle Shoals miss you and Bob spending so many years in Muscle Shoals, making Gold And Platinum.

One of the voices of my childhood, and from my home state.
Mmmm, lovin these 'oldies' you're playing!!! Bob Seger is an icon in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure the wacky wokies got rid of "baby It's cold outside."
And this is why I enjoy LFR Family. Your takes on every song are SPOT ON! I love your comments, definitely some deep insight.
Great song. I always thought it was saying everyone needs love, life’s got us struggling, tired and lonely so let’s just have this one night
